Thoughts on The Coming of Christ

Thoughts on The Coming of Christ

A reader raises some interesting questions about the return of Christ. First she says she thinks that he would come back as a male entity. I don’t recall ever reading any authoritarian source saying this before. Most people do, however, expect him to come back as a male, but there’s no revelation on this fact. He could certainly come back as a female entity, if he so chooses. I believe what I did say in the past is this that it is most likely he would come back as a male, because this would give him a strong sending energy which he will need. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t do the unexpected.

She later makes this statement:

From my understanding about male and female units, the male *sends* and the female *receives*. Therefore if Christ is in female form this time around, then she will be receiving from us and we will be sending to her. This might cause a bit of an upset, because we wont have much to teach her LOL.

JJ: The student cannot be polarized as a sender to the teacher. If Christ comes as a female his polarization would not be female energy in relation to us, but male. Instead, the female emphasis would be in relation to another entity still higher than himself, such as Sanat Kumara.

His situation as a female would be something like Alice A. Bailey or H. P. Blavatsky who send to their students, but receive from others higher than themselves.

Therefore, if Christ comes as a female his/her emphasis would be on the teachings and energy of one higher than him (as DK was to Alice A. Bailey), but if he comes as a male, the emphasis will be on his direct teachings as was the case with the Buddha.

Next she says that we expect Christ to be a prominent person for everyone would know his name. It’s true, of course, that when his mission is completed the whole world will know about him, this may not be the case when he begins his mission. It’s quite possible he could work for years in obscurity before he gets a lot of public attention. That this may be the case lies in the fact that the disciples of the world are currently having difficulty getting recognized, whereas the charlatans gain easy access to public attention

Next she indicates the Christ may have an assumed name. He will not come with the name of Jesus or Christ but could comes as John or Paul or Rick or some other name. Believe me, anyone that introduces himself as Jesus in this age is going to be laughed out of existence. When Christ comes again, he will have to prove himself by his works and by his intelligence, and by the power of this thought.

Next she asks, is he going to settle in a certain area of the world straightaway or will he be a wanderer?

Of course we’re not told many details about his coming mission, but I don’t think he will be wanderer. I believe he will have a base and from that base will operate and travel when necessary, and eventually have a strong influence over the entire world.

Next question. If you are true follower will you need to be right next door to Christ or in the same region as him?

No. Back in ancient times you had to be in his proximity in order to receive instruction from him. But this is not the case today with our improved communication systems, the internet and international media. There are numerous ways that he can communicate with disciples without being in their physical presence.

Then she asks, will he be able to move freely around the world gathering this flock or will parts of that flock be scattered all over the world?

The answer is both are correct. He will be able to move around the world in as he desires, with perhaps a few restrictions because of different laws of the various countries. I believe that when he comes he will apply the principle of the gathering and will have gathered around him quiet a few disciples and believers dedicated to his cause.

She wonders how many disciples he will have around him in this age. DK gives an interesting statement on this. He says that there will be 9000 disciples working around Christ. This will definitely give him more of a power base than he had last time around.

Will Christ work solely on the mental and telepathic levels more than verbal?

When he overshadows disciples, he’lll work more on the mental levels. If and when he decides to appear in a physical body of his own, of course, he will talk and teach just like you or I do.

The last time he talked about love and sacrifice as the central teachings. Will that be the case this time around, or will he teach something entirely different?

The answer is this: He will clarify many of this past teachings when he comes again. But in addition to what was given in the past he will present many new teachings. He will also elaborate on teachings that are not so new, but were not give entirely by him last time. DK tells us that one of these teachings that he will clarify what the reincarnation. He didn’t say much on this the last time around, but he will teach a lot about it the next time.

She ends with this statement – I just hope that when he is here in the physical, history does not repeat itself and humans assassinate him once again.

If any of you went to see the movie The Passion of the Christ I would think that if you put yourself in his place you wouldn’t want to go through something like that again. Instead, you would arrange this coming as an opportunity to concentrate on life, instead of death. I believe this will be the case. Last time he came he showed us how to die with courage. This time he will show us how to live with abundance.

The early bird gets the worm. Some reward! Bazooka Joe

The Visible Christ

The Visible Christ

An Alice A. Bailey reader asks whether the Second Coming would merely be Christ working on all levels but the physical.

Many students of metaphysics eagerly accept the idea of the Christ consciousness which is available to us all but have difficulty in accepting the possibility that the actual entity who is the Christ will soon make an appearance in the flesh. Now the member has read Alice A. Bailey and realizes that such an individualized entity does exist, but feels that perhaps he will only work with humanity from the subtle planes.

Actually, if this were the promised second coming then nothing would change for he has been working with humanity in all planes but the physical for the past 2000 years.

The reappearance of the Christ will not be just a continuation of his work as is but a continuation of his work with changes. In other words, the principle of Becoming is involved here.

Let me quote several sections of Djwhal Khul’s writings through Alice A. Bailey to illustrate the point. The following quotes are all from The Reappearance of the Christ

“Today, humanity stands at a peculiar and unique middle point, between an unhappy past and a future which is full of promise if the reappearance of the Christ is recognised and preparation for His coming is undertaken. The present is full of promise and also full of difficulty; in the hands of human beings today and in the immediate present, lies the destiny of the world and-if it may be reverently said-the immediate activity of the Christ. The agony of the war, and the distress of the entire human family led Christ, in the year 1945, to come to a great decision – a decision which found expression in two most important statements. He announced to the assembled spiritual Hierarchy and to all His servants and disciples on Earth that HE HAD DECIDED TO EMERGE AGAIN INTO PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH HUMANITY, if they would bring about the initial stages of establishing right human relations; secondly, He gave to the world (for the use of the “man in the street”) one of the oldest prayers ever known, (The great Invocation). Reappearance of the Christ Pg 30

“The consequent point of tension is now controlling the affairs of the spiritual Hierarchy and its many groups of workers. The “point of decision,” as it is called in all hierarchical circles, was reached during the period between the Full Moon of June, 1936, and the Full Moon of June, 1945. The point of decision covered, therefore, nine years (a relatively brief time); it resulted in the decision arrived at by the Christ to re-appear OR RETURN TO VISIBLE PRESENCE ON EARTH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, and considerably earlier than had been planned.

“This decision was necessarily made in consultation with the Lord of the World, the “Ancient of Days” of The Old Testament, and the “One in Whom we live and move and have our being” of The New Testament. He is the Custodian of the Will of God. It was also made with the full understanding and cooperation of the Masters and the senior initiates. This was inevitably so, because Their participation and help were imperative. They also necessarily had to be with Him in thought, and cooperating mentally, because His reappearance connotes a great hierarchical approach to humanity and a great spiritual event.”

Reappearance of the Christ, Pg 69

“UNDER THE DIVINE WILL, HE HAD TO REAPPEAR ON EARTH IN VISIBLE PRESENCE. He had to preside over the materialization of the Kingdom of God on Earth, and He had to re-institute the Mysteries of Initiation in such a form that they would prove the basis of the new world religion. Above all, He had to reveal the nature of the Will of God.” Reappearance of the Christ, Pg 71

“His arriving at the conclusion that He must have more trained and dedicated workers and agents than at that time was possible, or has proved possible since. Hence the gathering out and the training of the New Group of World Servers. When there are enough of these servers and enlightened workers, He will come and nothing can arrest His approach.” Reappearance of the Christ, Pg 100

“The knowledge that He is ready and anxious publicly to appear to His loved Humanity only adds to the sense of general frustration, and another very vital question arises: For what period of time must we endure, struggle and fight? The reply comes with clarity: He will come unfailingly when a measure of peace has been restored, when the principle of sharing is at least in process of controlling economic affairs, and when churches and political groups have begun to clean house. Then He can and will come; then the Kingdom of God will be publicly recognised and will no longer be a thing of dreams and of wishful thinking and orthodox hope.” Reappearance of the Christ, Pg 163

JJ: Here we are told by a close physical and spiritual associate of the Christ that in 1945 (after the defeat of Hitler) he decided to return (or reappear) to the people of the planet in “visible” manifestation. This tells us that his contact with humanity will definitely go beyond mental and astral levels down to the physical. Even though he has decided to appear in such a manner that he can have physical and visible contact with humanity this still leaves us several different possibilities as to how he will appear. This is a great mystery to many for he has not spelled it out to disciples.

Here are the possibilities:

(1) He could be born as a babe again and go through the normal process of development.

(2) He could be a “walk-in’ and trade places with a prepared disciple.

(3) He could overshadow a disciple and share a body as he did with Jesus.

(4) He could return in his current physical body.

(5) He could create a special vehicle (body) of manifestation which is in the East called a mayavirupa.

It has been revealed that there will be an overshadowing, but the plan beyond this is not yet fully revealed.

The reader is right that his physical presence could create many problems for him, and this prospect does indeed create a point of tension within his own psyche to which it is difficult for us to comprehend.

It is doubtful that he will announce himself as the Christ, just as he did not 2000 years ago. Instead his works and the power of his words, plus the Holy Spirit will bear witness to those who are ready.

The Coming in Glory, Part 1

The Coming in Glory, Part 1

I was asked to elaborate on the coming of Christ.

The first point I would like to make is that when the Jews were awaiting the first coming of the Messiah they made the same mistake that the religious world makes today. They were expecting him to show up in great glory, probably in the clouds of heaven, and destroy all their enemies and establish the kingdom of God through the use of great fear and force. This Messiah would be so powerful that all would quake in their boots and none would dream of going against him.

Does not this view of a Messiah sound a lot like John’s description of the Beast:

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast:

Rev and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

This description of the Beast fits very well with the religious world’s current belief of how Jesus will impact the world when he comes in glory.

Here is what the believers expect in Jesus that fits John’s description of the antichrist.

(1) He will have great power and authority

(2) He will be so powerful that none can make war with him

(3) People will worship him

(4) Power will be given him over all nations

(5) He will do great wonders and make fire to come down – a possible description of a fiery appearance in glory

This antichrist messiah was the illusion that the Jews looked for 2000 years ago and now the world awaits again for the appearance of one with great power and authority to destroy the wicked and save the righteous. Of course, the righteous are always those who believe the same way as true believers.

Instead of a booming destructive Messiah what was given to the Jews?

The answer: A kind gentle man who taught: “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” Luke 9:56

If he came the first time to not destroy, but to save, do you think his mission statement will be that much different this time? I don’t think so.

Let me repeat a prophecy concerning his first coming from a source you accept:

“And I beheld that he went forth ministering unto the PEOPLE IN POWER AND GREAT GLORY.” I Nephi 11:28

Now some early seekers could have read that and envisioned Jesus going forth upon the land in a blazing chariot dazzling everyone with the brightness of his presence.

But instead, how was this prophecy fulfilled?

Jesus went forth as one of the people and the only ones who saw the “great glory” were those who “had eyes to see.”

The Jewish leaders saw no great glory at all, but a great disturbance.

Also consider this. How many do you suppose there were who were expecting the Messiah to come as he did?

I would guess it would have been a very small handful. If John the Baptist had not prepared the minds of his little group perhaps the number would have been close to zero.

That said let’s review the scriptures concerning the clouds of heaven

Here is a popular one:

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” I Thess 4:15-17

The religious world is waiting for this scripture to come to pass, but many will be astounded to learn that it has already been fulfilled.

Notice the wording – Paul says: “WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN unto the coming of the Lord…” Then WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Paul was not speaking of a coming which would happen thousands of years hence, but of one which would come in his lifetime. Jesus told the church “I come quickly…” Surely 2000 years is not quickly.

These early Saints expected Jesus to come and save them from the great persecutions which were forthcoming and because the time was short, and the message of Christ had to be spread abroad before he appeared, the early leaders thought it best that the saints should not marry, but totally dedicate themselves to spreading the word. The injunction to not marry was a temporary one due to the circumstances of the time.

This teaching of the early leaders was not without foundation for Jesus told his disciples: “Verily I say unto you, There be some (more than one) standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his Kingdom.” Matt 16:28

These early saints believed that the 144,000 would be a group of Christians who would be taken by the Lord.

Actually, there is some historical evidence that such a saving event did happen and it was recorded by none other than the respected historian, Josephus. He recorded a second coming of Christ on May 30, 73 AD:

“Besides these, a few days after the feast, on the one and twentieth day of the month -Artemisius, a certain marvelous and incredible phenomenon appeared. I suppose what I am going to tell would seem a fable, were it not related by those who saw it, and were not the sad events that followed it deserving of such signs. Before sunset chariots were seen in the air, and troops of soldiers in their armour running about among the clouds. Moreover, at the feast which is called Pentecost, as the priests were going by night into the inner temple, as was their custom, to perform their sacred ministrations, they said that first they felt a quaking, and heard a great noise, and after that they heard a sound as of a multitude saying, Let us remove hence.” The Jewish War, Book 6, page 106, Chapter 5, section 3.

This sounds like an early UFO sighting, but we also have a “multitude” that was removed. Was this Christ appearing with his hierarchy, or Kingdom, as he promised? After all, the saints were told: “Ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, and the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. To the general assembly and the church of the firstborn which are written in heaven…” Heb 12:22-23

Did members of the church on the earth join with the “church of the firstborn” in heaven? Or is it possible that they were merely transported to a different area for safety? Or did they join Christ and his hierarchy for a period of time?

Whatever the case we can see that a fairly literal interpretation was applied to Rev 14:4 in that age.
