The Seeker’s Guide to Soul Contact, Part 20

Day 240

Wholeness

The Seed Thought

God needs all Its creations for Itself to be complete for the ALL is God, not the All minus one.

You will often hear spiritual teachers say that we do not need anyone else to be complete, that we are complete within ourselves. Now I’m not saying that this idea has no truth in it for contrasting points of view are often merely two presentations of the various true parts of the elephant.

The truth in the statement is that the seeker must look to his own decisions and thinking if he wants to find fulfillment in life. No one else is going to come and do this for him.

The greater truth is that we do need each other. Perhaps nothing illustrates this better than stories of mentally ill parents who lock a child in a room and keep him alone there for years. If the child is placed there at the age of eight and discovered at age 12, 16 or 18 he will still see himself as an eight year old. Because of no outside contact is growth basically reached a standstill. The poor kid was definitely not complete with only himself as company.

The universe outside is important just as is the universe inside. The outside provides necessary stimulation and the inside provides the processing.

Now the seed thought takes our thinking a quantum step further. We not only need each other for completeness, but God needs us and God just does not need some of us, but all of us.

But why would God need all of us? Wouldn’t He be much better off to just scrap the negative people and assimilate the good ones into heavenly bliss?

Believe it or not such thinking is contrary to the teachings of the Bible which says that God “will have ALL men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” I Tim 2:4. God is called “The Saviour of ALL men.” I Tim 4:10. God is “NOT WILLING that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9.

God created us out of his own essence and thus we are all in his image. That perfected essence reflected itself into the kingdom of souls and our souls, or Higher Selves, further reflected themselves down to the human kingdom where we have forgotten who we are. In coming here for the great experience many wander on wayward paths, but their essential self remains in the bosom of God. We will all return to our point of origin, but some will merely take more time than others.

Today’s Seed Thought:

Many of those accepted by the masses as authorities today will be equated by future generations with the flat earth believers of yesterday.

So, what is taught by authorities today that is likely to be seen as obviously false in future generations?

Day 241

Future Consciousness

The Seed Thought:

Many of those accepted by the masses as authorities today will be equated by future generations with the flat earth believers of yesterday.

When I wrote this thought a couple years ago I knew that there were still a few stragglers who believed in a flat earth, but I never actually encountered one. I thought that the thousands of pictures from space taken by many nations as well as private business had settled the question forever.

In this I was mistaken as conspiracy ideas promoted on the internet media have captivated the thinking of many on this subject. A recent CBS poll revealed that a whopping 44% of millennial are now not sure the earth is round. Many of this group embrace the medieval belief that it is a flat disc or square floating in space and the sun and moon are small globes just a few miles above us in the sky.

Now science will have to prove the round earth all over again. When the ordinary citizen can travel to space or the moon on vacation and look back and see the globe earth with his own eyes the case should finally be settled for good. But even here the diehards will find some reason to still believe in a flat earth.

The point of the seed thought remains valid. Many things accepted by the authorities of the past are now seen to be quite ridiculous. For instance, medical authorities in past centuries did not think it was necessary to wash their hands when performing surgery or for childbirth.

It would indeed be interesting to go 100 or 200 years into the future, look back and see where the thinking of our authorities was astray.

Let us say that the climate actually got cooler over the next 100 years. How would authoritative views on global warming be affected?

Perhaps orthodox medicine will recognize the value of many alternative health treatments they now consider heretical.

Perhaps some political ideas will be proved right or wrong beyond a doubt and people will be much more united in thought and look back on our divisiveness as primitive.

Indeed there will be revolution in thought in education, science, finance, politics, religion and all areas of life. It is interesting to contemplate how they will manifest.

Today’s Seed Thought:

What better way is there to learn than from experience? — To painfully experience the effects of our own causes forces us to stare reality in the face.

There is a lot of truth to be gained by reflecting on this thought. How many times in your life have you suffered from bad decisions that caused you to stare a new reality in the face?

Day 242

Facing Reality

The Seed Thought:

“What better way is there to learn than from experience? — To painfully experience the effects of our own causes forces us to stare reality in the face.”

The biggest complaint against God, as well as the prime foundation argument against the existence of a Higher Power, is the fact that there is a lot of pain and suffering in this world. The conclusion of the lower mind is this:

“If there is a God then he is a mean and uncaring S.O.B. that I want nothing to do with.” The other is that, “There cannot be a God because if there were he wouldn’t allow us to have such pain and suffering.”

Most believers do not claim to understand pain and suffering but merely believe that all will be understood once they get to heaven. In the meantime they proclaim that “God works in mysterious ways.”

A book could be (and probably has been) written on this subject but I’ll attempt to reduce the explanation down to a greater seed where contemplation will reveal more light.

There is one great law, which co-exists with eternal Divine Intelligence and that is Cause and Effect. God Itself is limited by this co-existing force. We are in the image of God and as such are also limited by Cause and Effect. Once we make a decision we reap the benefit from it as well as suffer any consequences involved.

The problem is this. Each decision yields one of the following:

(1) Mostly benefits.

An example would be the choice of a healthier diet. This is mostly beneficial but there is still some pain in refusing that piece of chocolate cake.

(2) Mostly painful repercussions.

This could be a bad choice in a marriage partner, though after it is over the person did admit he learned some lessons.

(3) A mixture of the two.

This could be represented in a choice to go to college, which results in a higher paying job, yet the person had lots of painful experiences with finances and classes as he struggled to graduate.

Cause and effect governs our universe and it matters not if we be human, angel or God, each decision made has the result of some pleasure and pain, success and failure, good and bad attached to it.

To attempt to negate cause and effect is to negate life itself. If the seeker were to ask God to take away all possibility of pain he is really asking for non existence, for if he exists he must decide and if he has freedom to decide he will have to face the effect effect of the pain and pleasure that follows.

Pain teaches us the lesson of what needs to be corrected. It forces us to stare reality in the face so we can apply intelligence to make corrections so good will dominate over evil.

Today’s Seed Thought:

“The real path forward in spiritual evolution will demand all the talents, intelligence and strength the seeker has to successfully complete the journey. If you are not being challenged then you are doing something wrong.”

Day 243

The Path Forward

The Seed Thought:

The real path forward in spiritual evolution will demand all the talents, intelligence and strength the seeker has to successfully complete the journey. If you are not being challenged then you are doing something wrong.

It is common for us humans to work intensely so we can arrive at the day when we can just relax and enjoy life. We tend to see the easy times as the most desirable and do everything in our power to avoid difficulties that really challenge us.

On the other hand, look back on your life at an experience that was pleasant, but required no effort on your part. Then take a look at one that was a great point of tension that challenged all your resources.

If you had to give up the memory and learning from one, which would it, be?

If you are like most people you would give up the pleasant one, but not trade the difficult one for anything in the world. That difficult experienced forged by fire what makes up a valuable portion of yourself in this present reality.

Does this mean we should not have pleasant restful periods in life?

Of course not. Periods of rest and refection and needed, but the Biblical injunction to rest one period out of seven is a good one. In other words, six periods out of seven we should be laboring at a goal that challenges our abilities. There are two ways this will happen.

(1) The seeker will assess his abilities and choose a work which will challenge his resources and strength. If he succeeds he will experience great joy. If he fails he will reassess and eventually achieve progress and satisfaction.

(2) If he gets stuck in a rut and attempts to stay in the cycle of rest and pleasure the soul will step in to rouse him out of his spiritual sleep. His life path will then be set on one of difficulty that cannot be avoided and he will be forced to go back to work. If he accepts the direction he can awaken, achieve and have joy. If he resists he will suffer greater and greater pain until he finally yields in this world or the next.

Conclusion: It is wise for the seeker recognize correct periods of rest and labor, and during the time of labor seek to challenge himself to the maximum amount possible until the goal is achieved. At this point his rest will recharge the spirit within giving power to plunge into a new cycle of achievement.

Today’s Seed Thought:

There are two kinds of people in the world: Those who have a sense of humor and those who do not. We are attracted to those in the first category and tend to avoid the ones in the second.

Why?

What is the deeper meaning behind humor?

Day 244

Flexibility and Humor

The Seed Thought:

There are two kinds of people in the world: Those who have a sense of humor and those who do not. We are attracted to those in the first category and tend to avoid the ones in the second.

Humor is difficult to define. If it were just a black and white thing we could all be good comedians, but instead the art is very subtle. To add to its complexity what is funny to one person, race, party or national group may not be funny to another.

Humor that is mean spirited or truly insulting to many is limiting but more universally appreciated humor represent jewels in the use of words.

Humor also changes with the times. I have an old book of jokes I was recently reading through of which most would get you ostracized in politically correct circles today.

After much thought here is how I would define humor:

“Humor, or that which is funny, is created when the dialog takes an unexpected but pleasant twist. There is an element of mild, or sometimes outrageous, surprise, and often subtle truth, in those statements that make us smile or laugh.”

Notice that from this definition that humor requires a certain amount of flexibility. To appreciate a joke one must allow the expected flow of information to be interrupted with something unexpected. Now that something unexpected could even be interpreted as something insulting. This requires the hearer to be flexible enough to look at the words through the viewpoint or intent of the speaker.

The creator of humor should be very flexible. He must be able to look at the rigid thinking that prevails in the establishment and think of unexpected approaches that go against it.

In short them the two kinds of people are those who are flexible and those who are not. The flexible one will appreciate a wide variety of humor and the inflexible one will be very narrow in what is accepted.

The flexibility of humor is generally missing among those in society who cause us grief such as tyrannical dictators, abusive people and those who seek to destroy themselves or others.

Flexibility is a key characteristic for the seeker to acquire in maintaining soul contact.

Today’s Seed Thought:

It may take a thousand facts to create the understanding of one principle, but one principle can reveal a thousand facts.

Contemplation on this can bring much enlightenment.

Day 245

Principles vs. Facts

The Seed Thought:

It may take a thousand facts to create the understanding of one principle, but one principle can reveal a thousand facts.

A fact is merely a piece of information that anyone can incorporate into his or her brain memory. It can likewise be programmed into a computer. A principle is a different matter. A principle is the underlying truth that makes all facts valid. It requires judgment to use and cannot be programmed into a computer.

It takes a certain point in the evolution of the human being to comprehend the difference between a principle and a fact but when one does, and learns to go within and touch the soul, then all the understanding and vision of a principle is revealed in a flash. Sometimes a book can be written about a principle revealed in one instant.

A principle is that which demonstrates the intelligence of God and makes things in the universe work toward a dominating good.

Example of a fact. You are either male or female.

Principle behind the fact: Male and female are energy states corresponding to the positive and negative particles that make up the universe. They are both equal in importance. The male represents the sending, radiant, visible energy while the female represents the magnetic, receiving invisible energy that holds creation together.

Memorizing facts, especially those needed for regular use, is helpful, but the memory is limited in how many can be accurately retained. Fortunately, in this day and age search engines such as Google are a big help. Billions of facts are now available at our fingertips so we do not have to clutter up our computer brains with unnecessary details.

When a principle enters the consciousness there is a registration made higher than the brain. Principles are the language of the soul and, as such, when the seeker registers one it is synchronously understood by both himself and the soul. This imbeds the memory of this higher knowledge in factors that go beyond the physical brain to the higher mind that survives death. Thus, the understanding of a principle, will stay with us always, unlike facts that come and go.

Today’s Seed Thought:

To say that life is unfair is to say that God is unfair. When all things are considered throughout the life of the soul, all is fair.

Many today are complaining that life is unfair, but what is the real truth of the matter?

Day 246

Life is Fair

The Seed Thought:

To say that life is unfair is to say that God is unfair. When all things are considered throughout the life of the soul, all is fair.

When I was young, back in the Fifties and Sixties the idea of the fairness of God and life was in wide circulation. The basic idea accepted was that any unfairness is just temporary and that all things will work out fairly in the end – if not this life, then in the heavenly spheres.

Then one day (I’m not sure of the year) I heard someone in the media make the declarative statement that life is not fair and we must just accept this as a fact.

From that point until the present I have heard this repeated many times. The statement seems to have permeated public consciousness to make them face the fact that, as far as this one life goes, life is indeed not fair. Some are born into poverty, ill health and lack of opportunity whereas others are born into an advantaged life. Humanity seems to be facing up to the fact that there is lots of unfairness to go around.

Some seem resigned to the idea that God is unfair and that is just the way it is, but there must be a higher purpose in it.

Others acknowledge the unfairness of life but think things will be worked out in the next world so there will be no justified complaints.

When you think about it both life and God would both be unfair if there were only one life. To see this we can just look at the difference in the lives of three individuals who died at different times.

(1) A baby who died in infancy. According to most beliefs this individual will never know what it would be like to live a full mortal life, to select a career, find a purpose, get married, have children etc. On the other hand, if Hitler had died as a baby he would have escaped being history’s most infamous villain.

(2) Jim is 20 years old, in his second year of college, and is in love with a wonderful person. Just as he is looking forward to a great future he is involved in a car accident that takes his life. All his hopes for a productive happy life are taken away, whereas, many of his friends continue on and are able to follow their dreams.

(3) Albert lives to the age of 93. He has had a great life with mostly good health and an abundance of resources. He married the love of his life and has numerous great kids and grandkids. He feels very gratified with his life as it nears its end. Is this sense of gratification something Albert has by some random flip of the coin by God that Jim and the baby will never have for all eternity?

Fortunately for all this is not the case as each of us live many lifetimes in this life of mortality. If we lived only one life there would indeed be unfairness, but when we consider that we live many lives experiencing being rich, poor, healthy, unhealthy, advantaged and disadvantaged then at the end of our learning (for life is a classroom) each of us will be satisfied that our overall earth experience has been fair and that we have had a well-rounded series of lives that allowed us to reach a fulfilling liberation into the Kingdom of God.

If the seeker has not considered reincarnation, then this is the time to think about it, especially in relation to fairness.

Today’s Seed Thought:

If a teacher is right about everything, and you believe and follow the teachings without confirmation from within, you have found nothing.

Why would you have found nothing if the teacher teaches the truth?

Day 247

The Stopped Clock

The Seed Thought:

If a teacher is right about everything, and you believe and follow the teachings without confirmation from within, you have found nothing.

They say a stopped clock is right twice a day. He who accepts a teacher, or teaching, because it sounds good, glamorous or in agreement with his desire nature but does not check with his own soul is like a stopped clock. How close he is to the truth will depend on where he is at the moment just as with the hands of a stopped clock.

Those seekers with the stopped clock mentality will find themselves in one of three basic situations.

(1) He is fortunate to find himself close to the truth (symbolized by the correct time).

(2) He has a teacher who mixes truth and error.

(3) His source of knowledge is way off the mark.

Now you would think that the guy in category one would have a great advantage, but, unfortunately, the advantage is fleeting just as one looking at a stopped clock at the correct time of day only has the truth for a few minutes and then it is gone. The one who accidently accepts the truth still does not know how to find it and as soon as he moves on he will most likely glom on to a teacher full of errors that he cannot discern.

Soul contact and learning to trust and verify with the inner voice is the greatest step the seeker can take on his journey to the sacred feet of the Logos. If he places his trust without rather than within he will not be able to hold on to any spiritual truth that he comes across, as a new teacher, full of cunning, will be able to draw him away from it with a few enticing words.

Jesus advised the disciples to build on a foundation of rack rather than sand. Relying on the inner voice is the foundation of rock and the other voices are like sand that can be blown in any direction by the winds of glamor and illusion.

Today’s Seed Thought:

The principle of freedom is a key that must be understood before one can make a conscious decision for the path of light.

Why is this such an important truth?

Day 248

A Core Principle

The Seed Thought:

The principle of freedom is a key that must be understood before one can make a conscious decision for the path of light.

If one had to point to a single core difference between the path of light and darkness it would be the Principle of Freedom.

The problem though is that there are different understandings of what freedom is so the real principle is not realized by many who are thus captured by propaganda from the dark side.

Have you ever heard of any dictator, no matter how insidious, proclaim that he is against freedom? No. All leaders, good and bad along with their followers proclaim themselves as supporters of freedom. Hitler was big on stating that he was fighting for freedom along with most other dictator warriors. The Southern States, during the American Civil War, loudly proclaimed themselves as fighting for freedom as they struggled to maintain the institution of slavery.

Obviously, the light and the dark, both have a belief in some concept of freedom. The seeker must realize that it is of prime importance that the difference is understood so he can make sure he is on the right side. If he does not understand what that right side is then he may find himself unwittingly on the side of those who are attempting to push humanity toward the dark side of ultimate slavery, which would be the opposite of maximum freedom for the human spirit.

Here are the two viewpoints on freedom.

Light: Supports circumstances, laws, and viewpoints that promote maximum freedom for the largest possible number rather than the few.

Dark: Supports circumstances, laws, and viewpoints that promote maximum freedom for the elite leadership and select supporters at the expense of the many.

For example, if Hitler had won the war the Nazi leaders and some of the German people would have had quite a bit of freedom if they stayed in lockstep with the dictator, but the most of the world would have been enslaved.

Today we have the largest political division since the Civil War. The seeker must examine both sides and see where maximum freedom applies. For instance, who is seeking to limit free speech and who is supporting it? Who is seeking to expand restrictive laws and regulations and who is seeking to keep them to an efficient minimum?

There are those on both sides of the political spectrum who do not fully embrace the true principle of freedom and this causes confusion on the part of many. This also puts an added need for discernment and good judgment on the part of the seeker. He or she will only know he is on the right side when soul contact is achieved, as some are only right because they are stopped clocks. (See previous lesson)

Today’s Seed Thought:

There is a religion of peace. It is found deep in the human heart.

How is this a key to finding peace?

Day 249

Finding Peace

The Seed Thought:

There is a religion of peace. It is found deep in the human heart.

Everyone wants peace but few find that state of mind where the cares of the world and personality do not interfere. Still fewer find the “peace that passes all understanding.”

So, what is it that keeps the seeker from enjoying a peaceful state of consciousness that is essential to soul contact? There are a number of items with which to deal.

(1) Guilt. This is the biggest culprit. Any for of active guilt can rob the seeker of peace day in and out. Then there is suppressed guilt the person tries to put on the back burner. This robs the seeker of inner connections to the peaceful spirit and comes back later to bite him with a vengeance when consciously surfaced.

The solution to the problem of guilt was discussed in days 14-17 as well as to a lesser extent in later days. The seeker is advised to review these, especially if guilt is still a problem.,

It is absolutely essential that the seeker put guilt into its right place and context. This is a prime aspect of “salvation.”

(2) Personal problems, such as financial, job security, threat of loss of love, ill health and others.

These type of apparent problems from the outside can greatly affect the average seeker. Many of them could be quickly solved by an exercise of will and taking corrective action.

Then there are some that pose a real difficulty. For instance, it is distracting enough to suffer personal financial setbacks, but suppose you don’t have enough money to feed and house your children. How could the seeker be smiling in peaceful bliss while his kids are complaining they are hungry or homeless?

In these distracting situations the seeker must ask two questions. First, “How did I get into this situation and how could it have been avoided?” The second question is, “How can I get out of this situation so I can focus on higher things than mere survival?”

There is a solution to every problem. The seeker must realize this and dig his way out of the hole into which he has placed himself.

Even in situations of real concern the seeker must give himself some free time to push back all the cares of the world, no matter how severe, and seek that state of inner peace which is always available.

(3) Difficult Relationships. The seeker may suffer insults and attacks from family members, friends and business associates. These types of interference are under the immediate control of the seeker who has soul contact. An instant decision can neutralize any emotional attack and cause it to be as if it never was. On the other hand, if someone threatens something physically destructive appropriate action needs to be taken.

After appropriately dealing with these three problems the seeker, through the power of directed will, can then focus his attention on the peace of the soul, or the Christ consciousness, that lies deep in the human heart. Since the heart center has a reflection in the head and both are linked to the soul and vibrate with love energy we have an exceptional opportunity to access, not only regular peace, but the peace that passes all understanding.

An attitude of mind that can really help the s seeker here goes beyond inward thinking to outer service. If the seeker feels a love and connection to all people plus a desire to be of service to them he is creating his own path to peace.

Much more could be written on this but the seeker will greatly benefit from a periodic reflection on this seed thought.

Today’s Seed Thought:

Happiness is found in the quest for the good, the beautiful and the true. Peace and rest are yours when they are achieved.

 Day 250

The Journey and Destination

The Seed Thought:

Happiness is found in the quest for the good, the beautiful and the true. Peace and rest are yours when they are achieved.

It has been said that life, happiness, success and other positive things are found in the journey and not the destination.

On the other hand, it is the allure of the destination that motivates us to take the journey.

For the athlete it may be the Olympic medal and adoration that motivates him or her to expend intense energy to reach that end. But then on reflection he finds the benefits of the end result rather fleeting whereas his reflection on the struggle to attain is a great source of learning and satisfaction.

This same process occurs with one striving for financial success, developing a talent or any other path to a desired objective. The seeker may tell himself that when he achieves the goal he will be happy, but when all is said and done and reflection occurs he finds that the real satisfaction occurred on the journey. Each step forward brought a degree of happiness and fulfillment.

Does this mean that only the journey has value, but there is little to be gained from the actual destination?

No. Not at all, but it does mean this.

The positive results from the journey and destination are different and the seeker needs to realize this so he can take full advantage of both of them. What needs to occur in the mind is a correction of a popular illusion which is this:

The journey is hell and the destination is happiness and heaven.

As the journey begins many difficulties are often encounter which makes it seem like the journey is the unhappiness part whereas happiness will happen at the destination. What is overlooked is that, even though the journey may be fraught with difficulties, each step taken calls forth degrees of happiness and satisfaction to the pilgrim.

The destination may bring a few moments of fleeting happiness, but that is not where its virtue lies. If the seeker sees the destination as something final where he will obtain satisfaction for the rest of his life then this stopping place will turn from a place of fulfillment to one of dissatisfaction and misery, the opposite of what was hoped for.

How then must the seeker view the destination in order to receive maximum fulfillment?

In order to enjoy the full benefits of the destination he must not view it as an ultimate goal or achievement, but a temporary rest where he can enjoy peace and relaxation while he reviews his past journey and contemplates his next great adventure.

When the seeker sees the journey and destination as two parts of a great cycle and accepts the true benefits of each he will then have his mind prepared to receive maximum benefits of each.

Today’s Seed Thought:

Don’t trust a person who cannot (or will not) answer a simple yes or no question.

Thinking on this reveals some interesting insight.

Day 251

Yes or No, Please

The Seed Thought:

Don’t trust a person who cannot (or will not) answer a simple yes or no question.

Many times I have watched a political debate or interview and the guy is asked a simple question that can be answered by a simple yes or no, but instead of answering he changes the direction away from the it in what seems an obvious avoidance. When this happens I sometimes feel like standing up and shouting at the guy on TV, “Just answer the question – a simple yes or no, please!”

This avoidance happens with advocates in all walks of life. We see this in salespeople, preachers, educators, scientists, but it is particularly pervasive with political people.

And why is that?

Because political candidates and advocates will often say what we want to hear, and avoid telling us what they actually want to do.

For instance, he may be asked if his plan would cause a raise in taxes. He knows the answer is yes, but doesn’t want to tell us for fear of losing votes so instead of answering yes or no he will go off on a tangent explaining the benefits of his plan.

I have seen many an interviewer ask the yes or no question two or three times, but with no success. The person usually gives up after two attempts, but I keep thinking to myself, “Go ahead, ask again and again until the scoundrel answers the question.”

The basic principle behind this thought is this. He who avoids answering a yes or no question has something to hide. There is a reason he will not answer.

Does this mean that in all circumstances the person is in the wrong for avoiding the answer?

Usually such a person is in the wrong, but there are exceptions to all things as noted by Solomon.

For instance, if you were in Nazi Germany and the SS was searching for your child to torture and asked you if you knew where he was, there would be justification in avoiding a “yes” answer.

But if a crafty SS officer was aware of this principle he may figure the parent was avoiding the answer because he was hiding something and would be correct.

The scriptures tell us that God does not clearly tell us all truth in black and white, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing.” Proverbs 25:2

Jesus himself concealed many things and avoided clearly telling the people he was the Messiah, totally unlike the would-be messiahs of today. There is only one record of him being asked a yes or no question about his calling and this is recorded in Mark, the oldest gospel,

“Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” Mark 14:61-62

There is no record of him being asked such a question earlier though he went out of his way to avoid stating it to all but a few close disciples.

That said, nine times out of ten in today’s world the yes or no question is avoided because answering it will reveal hypocrisy and deception. The guy just doesn’t want his true motives revealed. When the seeker understands this principle he will have an extra tool in delving for the truth.

Today’s Seed Thought:

Those preaching religious or political truth generally only see a tiny piece of a jigsaw puzzle when thinking they have the whole picture.

Can you think of an example of this? How about yourself? Do you think you see more of the picture than you actually do?

Day 252

The Whole Picture

The Seed Thought:

Those preaching religious or political truth generally only see a tiny piece of a jigsaw puzzle when thinking they have the whole picture.

This parable may be the most effective teacher of this principle. Also there is an expanded version in my book, “The Lost Key of the Buddha.”

The Three Blind Men and The Elephant

A man of vision came across three blind men who were complaining about their limitations. “Follow me,” he said, and learn a great lesson from the elephant. He directed them to approach the elegant animal and give their description.

One man embraced a leg and said, “I perceive that an elephant is like a great tree.” The other man took hold of the tail and disagreed. He said, “No, my brother, I feel and know the elephant is like a rope.” The third man felt an ear and replied, “You are both wrong. The elephant is like a great carpet.”

After giving them time to digest their findings, the man of vision explained: “You are all correct, and you are also all wrong.” Then he took the three blind men and had each feel all of the three distinct parts. They responded in amazement: “Now we see that the elephant is a more complex being than we ever imagined. We condemned each other in ignorance, for one of us was as correct as the other.” Then they become curious and asked: “Tell us, Is there even more to the elephant than this?”

The man with eyes to see responded: “Yes, there is much more. You still have an incomplete view. I will take you around the elephant and you can feel the other parts.” To their amazement and joy, they discover that the elephant had not only one leg, but four and not one ear but two and many other previously unknown parts. He had a trunk, eyes, mouth, teeth and a large body they never realized existed.

After they felt all the parts, the blind men said: “We have now felt the whole elephant and our consciousness has greatly expanded, for we realize that before we knew nothing, even though we thought we knew all. Now we still realize that our understanding is imperfect because we do not see. Tell us, how can we see?”

The man with vision said: “I was once blinded as you are, but it does not have to be so. There is nothing wrong with your eyes. You merely have a film over them that needs to be washed off in pure water.”

He then handed them a pitcher of water and they each washed their eyes with it and the dark film dissolved. To their joy they found they could see. Looking about, they saw the elephant and asked: “What is that strange creature over there?”

The man replied: “Did you not recognize it? That is the elephant!”

Immediately, they realized: “Yes, of course, that has to be the elephant, but I never thought it was so large,” says one. “I never would have believed it was so small,” says another. “I never realized it was so beautiful,” says the third. But they all did agree that what they saw correlated with every previous fact they had discovered about the elephant. The discrepancies entered when they compared the way they felt and what they imagined about the elephant with what they actually saw. All Three of them admitted that they had erroneous thoughts and feelings about the elephant that were completely unfounded.

To their added joy they saw that there was much more to see than an elephant, but a complete new world to explore. Now that they could see they found that they were, in reality, just beginning to gain true knowledge. Everything else that they had experienced up until this time was merely a step to prepare them for true seeing.

Thus the three previously blind men stepped forth into the world of seeing. They explored, experimented, and begin to serve their brethren.

Today’s Seed Thought:

If the zealot holds sacred the idea that 2+2=5, then the one who says 2+2=4 is the enemy.

Why do you suppose this is often true?

Day 253

The Zealot Within

The Seed Thought:

If the zealot holds sacred the idea that 2+2=5, then the one who says 2+2=4 is the enemy.

Most of us have encountered a real zealot at one time or another. They are not only found in religious/spiritual thinking, but business, investment, multi level, politics and other mindsets.

These zealots are very proactive in presenting their ideas as if they are absolute truth, but many things in the presentation often have flaws seen by a person of reason.

When such flaws are pointed out the zealot will often stop in his tracks, pause, give a look of displeasure as if you have insulted his god or religion, and either defend or attack. Unfortunately, it will often be an attack or insult.

Rarely will the zealot consider reason, or even an established fact, as a reason to alter his thinking. 2+2=5 and that is it. Any evidence to the contrary is considered an insult or an attack.

Now the real zealot stands out like a sore thumb in a group, but the majority of people have parts of the zealot in them wanting to get out and proclaim something not in harmony with reason and ready to attack those who disagree.

The seeker must always examine himself, his motives and thoughts and neutralize these negative aspects of zealotry.

Take global warming for example. Maybe the guy has an illogical reason to support it or to be against it. A person can be right, but by accident, because he has assumed things rather than checking out the facts. So even if you think you are right (which all zealots do) you may be right for the wrong reason.

The seeker who has rid himself of zealotry will not be offended if he is challenged.

Neither will he automatically reject contrary arguments.

Neither will he refuse to examine data that does not seem in harmony with his thinking.

The seeker will be open to all things yet maintain positive discernment so real truth is not lost.

Seed Thought of the Day:

The person who can’t come up with good solutions to every-day simple problems ought to consider that he could be wrong on the big stuff as well.

Day 254

The Big Stuff

The Seed Thought:

The person who can’t come up with good solutions to every-day simple problems ought to consider that he could be wrong on the big stuff as well.

We’ve all seen this guy. He has big plans – maybe he even wants to change or save the world from itself. His mind is full of idealism and feels he knows how things should be. On top of that, he gives you lots of advice on what you should be doing and thinking. You should follow him because he will show you the way to greatness.

The strange thing about these individuals who are full of hype is that few have demonstrated success in their own lives with everyday problems, or even small things. The seeker needs to ask, “If one cannot demonstrate mastery over the small things then why should he be trusted concerning the greater ones?

If one cannot hold down successful employment so he can pay his bills then why should we believe he has a true once-in-a lifetime business opportunity – or the solution to the world’s monetary problems?

If a guy can’t hold together a romantic relationship, secure the love of his children or establish enduring friendships then what on God ‘s green earth gives him the authority to tell you how to run your life of establishing sound relationships?

Then if some guru has no original thoughts or principles of his own but only borrows from others then why should he demand to be respected as if he were the mouthpiece of God?

It is a natural human inclination to desire respect and to see our words be valued by others, but many prematurely expect this to happen before they have demonstrated any ability deserving of such respect.

For instance, the chances are over 90% that the last guy who called you up with once-in-a-lifetime money making opportunity was in desperate financial difficulties himself.

The seeker must examine himself for this flaw for it often manifests on very subtle levels and many are tempted to indulge in it from time to time. He must ask himself:

Do I seek to give advice that is beyond my knowledge and experience?

Do I want to teach when I really should be applying myself more as a student?

Do I want to tell others what to think when my own thoughts are unstructured?

Of course, there is nothing wrong with giving your opinion, especially if it is asked for, but the error made is in placing oneself as an authority when expertise has not been demonstrated.

If the small things in a person’s life are not under control then maybe the big things are not working either.

The Law of Correspondences applies here.

Seed Thought of the Day

Understanding and dealing with your weaknesses and limitations is a key to unlimited power.

Many ignore their limitations when seeking for greater power. Why is this a mistake?

Day 255

Limitations

The Seed Thought:

Understanding and dealing with your weaknesses and limitations is a key to unlimited power.

Let us say that you wanted to become a track star, but you have a recently broken leg. Would it do you any good to try and compete when on crutches? Of course not, you would be likely to do more damage to yourself and set back your physical condition even more than it is.

The wise thing to do is to come to reality with your limitation (the broken leg) do what you can to speed up the healing and next get yourself back in shape. Then, after you have removed the limitations that set you back you will be able to compete again.

Many beginners on the spiritual quest completely ignore their limitations and figure they can become a spiritual giant in one great leap. While there is nothing wrong with looking ahead to a finishing goal, it will not do much good if the seeker has a spiritual broken leg that needs healing.

Exactly what are some of these hindrances and limitations often ignored by the beginner? Here are a few.

(1) Some teacher may have told the student there is no such thing as limitation. Some gung ho students embrace this idea, but this is like a coach telling the athlete that there is no such thing as a broken leg. Not helpful.

(2) A teacher may have taught of a great shortcut. By embracing his teachings the student can be instantly saved with nothing further to accomplish, obtain instant godlike status or even skip over a thousand lifetimes.

There are no great shortcuts to achievement. Indeed, some paths are shorter than others, but the shorter ones usually require greater effort. For instance, the student may graduate from college in three years instead of four or five, but a greater effort is required, so even though the time is shorter it is not really a shortcut.

(3) The beginner often thinks the mind needs to be put aside and one must rely on the feeling nature to make spiritual progress.

This is a great mistake, especially for the seeker polarized in the lower feeling nature. The higher mind, capable of pure reason is essential in taking the seeker toward oneness with the Higher Self. He higher mind will also incorporate the best of the heart and love-wisdom energies.

(4) A lack of the development of talents which can be used in service to humanity. Many seekers overlook developing their talents so they can be useful instruments for service. This takes great effort which many do not want to expend.

Clint Eastwood was right when he said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

The seeker must find them, remove them and take the next step.

Today’s Seed Thought:

As below, so above but with a divine and rational twist.

This applies to the Law of Correspondences that we discussed earlier. Is the correspondence of the above to the below exact? Why not?

Day 256

As Above – Almost

The Seed Thought:

As below, so above but with a divine and rational twist.

We covered this in the series dealing with the Law of Correspondences on days 201-207, but this short seed thought gives the heart of the principle.

Most of us have heard the statement “As above, so below” and vice versa, but “with a divine and rational twist” adds a new thought which is necessary to see the whole truth.

For instance, the atom of the world below is said to be like a miniature solar system. There are indeed similarities, but there are also substantial differences.

The human cell has been compared to a great city, both having an electric communications system, transportation devices, garbage disposal and many other similarities yet there are again great differences.

Parts of the earth such as the great waters, land, oil and vegetation is said to correspond to blood, flesh, lubricants and hair in a human body. Again the comparisons point toward a truth, but are not exact.

There are two great truths revealed here.

(1) A black and white interpretation usually misses important aspects of the truth.

(2) God does not repeat Itself in creation but makes “all things new.” Rev 21:5 Just as we look around the world and the universe we see that everything is created with a difference, demonstrating great variety, even so, God creates differently above than below. There will be similarities and the seeker will therefore need to look on one level and use intuition to discern the truth on a differing level.

Seed Thought of the Day:

The person in your life who irritates you the most is your greatest teacher.

The truth behind this is pretty obvious when you think about it.

Teachings and Thoughtforms

June 25, 1999

Teachings and Thoughtforms

I was asked what the Masters do when the disciple they may be working with starts making mistakes or gets centered in the ego.

When this happens (as it often does) the Masters sit back and do nothing. They do not tell the disciple he is in error unless he sincerely petitions to know. Sometimes the disciple will discover his errors and sometimes he does not. If he does not he must come back in a future life and set things straight.

This is the reason soul contact is so important in any group. If a good portion of the group have such contact then they will sense that the teacher is in error and voice their concern and this will sometimes cause the teacher just reflection. If the teacher’s ego is in the way he is likely to turn into a dictator.

Many times with this group I have stressed that I could be wrong on any point that I present and the only way you will know for sure is through your own inner contacts. I can see why many teachers in the past have not done this – because there is always the danger that those who are in the personality will accuse the teacher of error and disrupt the flow when the teacher may yet be in the soul. Nevertheless, this is something that we must face in the great age that is approaching. It is a small price to pay for the group to seek and receive true soul contact.

I was asked to comment on the thoughtforms that the teachers of humanity make available for us.

Indeed the great ones do project inspired ideas and concepts our direction

Let me give you a couple of these.

(1) The concept that there are a group of disciples on the earth that are scattered among all people and groups, yet as a whole identify with none. The fact that there are this group of “new world servers” is a thoughtform available to the masses.

(2) The realization that we can hurt by attempting to help through wrong methods. From this comes the idea than an “enabler” may prolong pain rather than solve it.

(3) Over the past ten years the differences in political thought have been accentuated, forcing many people to formulate their beliefs in the light of day.

(4) Over the past thirty years businesses have become more group conscious and some see employees as an extended family giving more benefits through free will.

These four improvements are sample areas where the Masters send a general energy that can be picked up by those who are ready to help with the progress of the world.

On the other hand, specific teachings that stimulate higher evolution are not thrown out randomly into the ethers for all to pick up.

It is true that all truth is available through the soul when the disciple is ready, but as far as the work of the Masters is concerned, they are very discerning about the specific knowledge that they make available to disciples.

There is much knowledge, keys and formulas that have been sealed up for thousands of years that the Brotherhood will not yet release and would cause great harm if they did. It has been written that “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” Perhaps it should be written “a little premature knowledge is a dangerous thing.”

When new specific teachings are given out they are presented in an orderly manner with very little duplication. Duplication of efforts by giving the teachings to many would violate two laws the Brotherhood live by which are:

(1) The law of economy

And

(2) The principle of incorruption.

It is the disciple’s job to give the teachings to the many.

Let us take the keys of knowledge for instance. It would take a lot of duplication of effort to give them out to a dozen disciples. To accomplish this task the Masters would have to neglect other work, thus they rely on the law of economy.

Through following the principle of incorruption the Masters attempt to present new teachings in as pure of a form as the written word can be. If the same teachings were given to a dozen disciples they would all present them in a dozen different variations causing much confusion as to who has the best version. The end results is that there would be much division and no good version would be accepted by the masses.

The teachers of the human race must work with the limitation of words which often make the transmission of core truths difficult. This is why soul contact is so essential.

Let us take the teachings given through Alice A. Bailey with which I know you are familiar. The Masters picked one person for the above stated reasons. There was not disciple A, B and C out there giving out similar teachings. The teachings were uniquely given out through her and there was nothing out there to compete with them for the Brotherhood do not compete with each other in the normal sense.

The inhabitants of the Kingdom of God work like a finely tuned engine. Each entity has his part to play that is not in competition with the other parts. When each does play his part correctly the engine runs smoothly. The Masters do not say “we need a spark plug so let us make this known to a thousand disciples.” How then could the engine run with a thousand spark plugs and no spark plug wires or other parts?

There is a part for all according to desire and ability, but we all have different roles to play at various times. We do change roles from time to time, but when you move on your job must be replaced by another.

Yes, my projections on the group do sound visionary and possibly impractical, but there are two important reasons why it may just happen.

(1) The teachings I present are confirmed by soul contact.

(2) I will not take my attention away from putting energy into the group. the promotion of The Immortal Series and other writings to be published.

A Course in Miracles and other inspired books are often distorted by self deceived teachers to the extent that the general public receives a very erroneous impression of their true value. The teachers of the race do their best to avoid this corruption, but until the majority receive soul contact no inspired teaching will be correctly understood by the masses and many of the teachers.

254. A smile gives the receiver a glimpse into the soul.

255. Perception gives us data

Mind, organizing data, gives us understanding

Reflection on what is understood yields Truth.

Applying truth through the light of the soul manifests Wisdom.

256. If a light is slowly dimmed to 50% strength and then is instantly turned up to full strength, the person is startled as to the intensity. He had no idea he was missing so much light. Even so, with spiritual light. We are often not aware when we are losing it. The struggle for fullness of light, like freedom, requires eternal vigilance.

257. What good is it if we have light but keep it under a bushel? The bushel is composed of fear, inertia, ego, lack of confidence and dependence on unjust authority. Let us remove the covering and keep this a land of the ever present sun, in season and out of season.

258. When one places focused and consistent attention on the goal or creative effort an invisible magnetic power is generated that pulls together the elements necessary for success that goes beyond the power of individual action.

259. Do not give up your power of independent thought to any group, book, guru, prophet or master.

260. We complain about leaders of both parties yet they reflect the inward reality of our own thoughts. If we elevate our thoughts as a people we will draw to ourselves leadership that will inspire us.

261. He who seeks to know the truth but doesn’t tell the truth will never be the truth, or a light to the world.

262. Telling the truth takes wisdom, for there are many distortions in everyday conversation and media that must be discerned and not passed on.

263. An illustration of the One and the Many is the guitar string. When it is stationary we see only one string, but as soon as you pluck it, there is immediately produced the illusion of three strings. There appears to be three strings until the vibration ends. Then we see one string again. So also it is with God, the One, The Trinity and the Many. We are all linked to the one Sound or Word. The eternal cycle is the One becomes the Many and the Many become the One.

264. THE SONG OF THE 144,000

 We thank you Father

that you have revealed to us

your protective universal light;

That within this light

is complete protection

from all destructive forces;

That the Holy Spirit of Your Presence

permeates us in this light,

and wherever we will the light to descend.

We thank you Father

that you fill us with your

protective fires of Love;

That within this love

is complete protection

from all destructive

thoughts and feelings;

That the consciousness of Christ

is lifted up in us in this love,

and wherever we will

the love to be enflamed.

We thank you Father

that you are in us

and we are in you;

That through us

Your Will is sent forth

on wings of power;

That Your Purpose

is accomplished on earth

as it is in heaven;

That through us

Your Light and Love and Power

is manifest to all

the Sons and Daughters of Mankind.

265. Song of Eternal Life

I thank you Father-Mother-Spirit

For the energy of life which streams

From Universal Source to me

For the life that circulates through each atom and cell

Permeating my entire body and mind

Bringing health and vitality to all my living parts.

I bask in this life

I feel the life

I am the life

The life which knows not corruption

The life which makes all things new

The life which always IS.

I feel the life from my toes to the top of my head

And give thanks for its abundance.

I praise, and love my body and all of its parts

For receiving this Life and Spirit and Source.

I praise body, mind, soul & spirit

For receiving without ceasing.

266. Avatar of Synthesis Invocation

From the center where the Will of God is known,

let Purpose guide the little wills of men.

Let the One Great Life manifest Its Purpose

and send forth Its Avatar.

Let this Master of Purpose come forth

and amplify our wills to synthesize them

with his own, giving us power to serve.

Let the Avatar of Synthesis manifest

to the group of which I am a part.

That we may prepare the earth

for the Lords of Light and Love.

Let Will and Power and Purpose

manifest the Christ on earth.

267. Oneness

I am one with my fellow travelers.

All that I have is theirs.

I am one with Christ and all Divine Beings.

All that they have is mine.

I am one with the Creator of all there is

And from this point burst forth as a Sun

To share light, love and power to serve

With those who have forgotten their Source.

268. As Siddhartha Gautama, who became the Buddha, sat under the Bodhi Tree near starvation, seeking enlightenment, he heard some singing; the words he heard are said to be something like this:

If you tune the strings of a harp too tight,

the sound will not be right.

If the strings are too slack as they play,

a beautiful sound will not be made.

Neither too tight nor too limp shall be the strings,

If the player is to be worthy of kings.

The tension must be tuned by the ear

To fill the soul of all who hear.

When he heard these words, a light turned on in his mind. He realized that the first part of his life, where he dwelt in luxury, was likened unto a string too loose. The second part of his life, where he sought nirvana through starvation and austerity, was as a string too tight.

The vision of the true Middle Way flashed into his mind.

It is not what you think.

269. If you follow the highest you know there will come a time when you will be visited by a Presence, either visible or invisible. It will come at a time that you least expect it and a time when perhaps you feel the least prepared

spiritually, but it will come.

To dream and wish for the experience will only delay the happening. But if you take the highest you know and go forward in the vineyard of the Master and serve with no end in sight, in season and out of season, in good times and bad. If you serve with love in the dark of night with the same strength as in the light of day, if you continue with loving service through the fiery darts of hate, malice and betrayal and above all if it appears that even your Master and your God seem to completely ignore you as if you do not exist… Through all this you will continue to serve with the highest you know.   You continue even if God himself seems to be your enemy putting every obstacle possible in your path and laughing at you as you stumble and fall. You rise up and continue. The time comes that it will not seem to matter to you any more if friends, God or the Masters approve of you or not. It matters not if you are some great chosen one or are looked upon by the Master as the least and most needy of the brethren. You will now serve for the sake of selfless love alone because the need is out there and you sense the need. When this stage is reached in your being one of the Great Ones will take notice and speak: “Behold, the servant! He has become as one of us. Let us invite him into the circle of higher friendship, brotherhood and service.”

But even here the invitation comes not as you expected. All your expectations are shattered and soon replaced by newer ones and the groping in the dark is replaced by walking the path with vision. The reward for your selfless service is sight and as you see the path ahead your heart is filled with joy for that which you see is not what you imagined, but more than you imagined.

270. Imagination precedes reality, so imagine well.

271. When every day is the spirit of Christmas…

That is the threshold that will create peace on earth.

272. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. Therefore, focus on getting ready rather than just thinking one is ready. Find your next step.

273. Even the words of a great book, such as the Bible, can create a prison if they are not interpreted with a loving heart and discerned through eyes in tune with Spirit.

274. A prison of walls and chains is a terrible thing, but worse still is being a prisoner of your own thoughts and beliefs while thinking you are free. Unless the person wakes up there is no escape.

275. He who learns and applies keeps the knowledge. He who does not apply must learn again and again: “Ever learning and never coming to a knowledge of the truth.”

276. You find what you are looking for, whether it be good or evil, the true or the false, freedom or slavery.

277. The Universal Mind craves experience, and as it contemplates in its various energy states, it sees all possibilities. Each possibility is an extension of Itself, created in Its own image and becomes a point in the Universal Life. You are one of these.

278. Thoughts are powerful creators. If you expect good things to happen this year you are ten steps ahead of the guy expecting doom, or who thinks circumstances or the world is against him.

279. The road to perfection is paved with many experiments and mistakes. The ability to move onward after failure is a great virtue.

280. When the seeker says he has found the ultimate feeling, bliss, or God Presence, he knows not that he is only at the beginning of his journey. No matter how high the consciousness, bliss or joy, the seeker adjusts to it and eventually becomes ready for more. When he is ready, the more will come, worlds without end.

281. If you limit yourself to learning exactly according to the mindset of a teacher, you will also inherit his flaws.

282. There are two types of people. Those who are paralyzed by their fears and those who paralyze their fears and move forward as if they did not exist. The choice is always before us.

283. The false authority is he who cannot demonstrate the truth of that which he claims to teach or practice.

284. No one puts energy into an endeavor unless there is something in it for them. Even of Jesus it was written, “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross.” Heb 12:2

285. The only thing that does not change is the principle of change and the prime eternal law that governs this is cause and effect. The principles that govern this are formless and eternal, but even they are involved in the creation of change.

286. Guilt is pain caused by the worship of an artificial outer God or authority. True correction comes from inner vision directed by spiritual love.

287. Do not shoot the messenger or seek to destroy the message. The truth will prevail in the end no matter what you do.

288. Just as gold must pass through the refiner’s fire before it reaches its highest purity and value, even so must the disciple pass through every obstacle that can be thrown in his way on the path of service.

289. Most pain and disease has its root cause in resistance to taking the next harmless step in spiritual progression. Find out what that next step is, and take it; then a quantum of life energy will be released to circulate and heal your entire being.

290. The successful person must not only realize that common mistakes will happen, but must be prepared to handle acts of great stupidity and incompetence.

291. If you want to make your problems seem smaller, make your perspective bigger. (Artie Dewey)

292. An important key to spiritual progression is to make sure that every word you speak is true to the best of your knowledge. You do not have to reveal all you know, but what you do reveal should be true.

293. We often think we are creating cause when we are merely an effect of a greater Cause or Purpose. The quest is to find that Purpose and the spiritual reality wherein it resides.

294. True giving is like putting money in the bank gaining interest. You may withdraw at the right time and give again with greater power.

295. The pure in heart may veer some to the left or the right as they tread the straight and narrow path, yet will stay on the path because they are true to their highest light.

296. The swinging of the pendulum manifests among humanity by their swing to the left and right in their belief systems. As the pendulum swings among us, the masses swing with it, not realizing that they are following the energy much more than they are doing any independent thinking.

297. Many who believe in reincarnation say there is no hell. But what if you were reborn into North Korea? Would you not consider such a life as hell? What if you had to live most of your life as a paraplegic or a starving person in the third world? Indeed there are many hells right here before our eyes. This should give us incentive to live a productive life of service.

298. If a person’s conclusion is based on how he feels then the purest of reason pointing the opposite direction will have no effect.

299. We as individuals must become linked up as part of an eternal chain or vine where each of us reach out and grab another by the hand and take him or her with us.

300. Imagination stirs energy at subtle levels that can distill on to the physical plane if the focus is sustained.

301. Study your life to see where events are leading you so you can correctly anticipate and prepare for your future.

302. Unless one places consistent attention on staying in harmony with his highest inner source there will be spiritual amnesia and every communication will have some deception in it.

303. That which we were, always was

That which we are, will always be.

Even though location changes eternally.

304. Isn’t it interesting that the biggest problems we seem to have today are in finding the best pillow, the best designed shirt or best cooking utensil? Yet we march in the streets complaining at the drop of a hat. It is the best of times, but certainly not worst of times.

305. A broken promise is serious because it is a breaking of the will, your will. You have willed to do a thing and your will was broken by the only person who can break it, yourself.

306. That point at which one feels the most confident and self assured is the point of the greatest danger of retrogression.

307. It is most important that when we make a commitment and we are aware of such commitment, that we do all in our power to be true to our word. If we do this consistently then our vibration moves in harmony with the vibration of Spirit, which is truth, and the door to higher contact opens wide.

308. To heal others you must heal yourself, to inspire others you must elevate your own thoughts, to see the good in others forgive yourself.

309. Worry, fear and inertia are the three great enemies for the seeker. They must be overcome through the focused attention of the will toward the peace of the inner Spirit.

310. The idea that truth is relative is illusion. Only perception of truth is relative, but truth itself is always true. That which is true cannot change to that which is not true.

311. When the seeker learns to be true to his word the Word within will be known, and the Word will be made flesh in him.

312. Many speak when they should be silent and are silent when they should speak. Others speak too often using many words when few would suffice. Quality and timing of speech or of silence are a mark of wisdom.

313. Perfection needs an imperfect world in order to manifest.

314. The undiscovered country lies within our own souls. Seek and find unlimited gifts.

315. When people recognize you have authority they will immediately give you power, but if they see that you have power, but with no authority, many will seek to take the power to themselves.

316. Freedom of action for the lawless and violent few must be restricted by law to insure the greatest possible freedom of speech and action for the many.

317. Too much speech suppresses hearing that which is needed. Too much silence prevents giving out the Words of Life. The master soul balances all polarities.

318. The light in you is the same as the light in Christ. Focus, therefore, on the highest you know and be a light to others causing them to thank God for what they receive.

319. We see through a glass darkly to comprehend the universal laws that must be realized to save us from ourselves. Grant us, oh Lord of Hosts, that our vision be clarified.

320. When we awaken from a dream we have a greater awareness than when in the dream. We are now in the dream world of the soul, and when awakened after death, we will make a similar leap in consciousness.

321. Many truths are hidden in plain sight, the last place many of us are willing to look.

322. There is no such thing as unconscious thought. Thought only springs from consciousness.

323. The tendency of the many is to lean increasingly with age upon that which has been embraced in the past rather than considering the new which may lead to greater light, life and fulfillment.

324. We make our own reality within the limits of our own consciousness. Beyond that limit reality is determined by intelligence far beyond our own.

325. Words draw powerful forces that can destroy, build or protect. Choose them carefully.

326. A true disciple is one who disciplines himself and uses the power of will to focus on the light until truth is revealed.

327. The most harmless path often involves breaking a few eggs. The most loving one will sometimes hurt feelings and the most helpful may draw complaints that you are getting in the way.

328. Be aware of your past, but do not turn around and focus there. Look forward and always move on into the greater light ahead.

329. You have an earthly family and a spiritual one. When you meet a spiritual brother or sister you will feel like you have taken one more step to arriving at your true home.

330. Much can be written about the Divine Will, but it is not understood until it is touched.

331. An expansion of consciousness occurs when the seeker focuses on the good of the group, or the whole, above the separated self.

332. If the seeker wants a true answer to a petition to a Higher Intelligence then he must ask with more in mind than a benefit to his separated self. The answer must provide a benefit to the many, not just the one.

333. Seekers complain of loneliness and the dark night of the soul. Both are illusions. You are never alone and the inner light is ever shining bright to those who look.

334. Consider the messages of life. The vegetable kingdom is happy in feeling the life of God. Animals are happy seeking it and the birds are happy expressing it in their flight. Fulfilled humans possess all these qualities.

335. As the seeker may be painfully struggling through a crisis, his own soul may be experiencing joy in heaven over the foreseen positive outcome.

336. We mercifully forget our dreams shortly after waking. It would drive us crazy to have them circulating through our minds during the day. Similarly, we forget our past lives shortly after birth which allows us to focus in the present.

337. Silence, space and stillness are not what they seem. In silence you can hear, in space there is energy and in stillness there is activation of all creation.

338. As the seeker moves forward on the path of liberation the light ahead becomes brighter and his power to move stronger as he assists those behind him. But if he fails to assist, then the path ahead is darkened and his strength evaporates. He becomes lost while another dedicated to serve takes his place.

339. “Love sets my tone, light is my vision, reason is my guide and higher purpose motivates me,” says the true servant on the Path.

340. Signs of an Old Soul

  1. Does not hear in black and white but correctly interprets between the lines.
  2. Looks at evidence on both sides of a controversial situation
  3. Questions most everything, including settled science, settled politics, settled religions etc.
  4. Makes productive use of time and wastes it not.
  5. Will have a reservoir of original ideas.
  6. Will generally give more than receives.
  7. People seeking help will be drawn to him or her.
  8. This soul will not retaliate in kind no matter how great the insult.
  9. Rather than attack those in error this soul sheds light on the problem.
  10. The old soul puts much more weight on that which is verified from within than expressed by authorities without.
  11. Has a history of correctly perceiving truth rather than illusion.
  12. There is life in his words and love in his actions.

341. Consistency in the dark or the light, in peace or during the storm, while enduring hate or basking in adoration is the quality looked for by those who watch.

342. Most realize that we gain through painful experience, but unappreciated is that we also gain through joyful activities and associations. The problem is the tendency to feel we deserve the pain, but are unworthy of happiness. This illusion must be dispelled. Joyousness is our birthright.

343. When reborn in a future life you will lose all data to your conscious mind, but you will take with you all gained intelligence, wisdom and understanding of principles. Indeed, Solomon spoke wisely: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7

344. To see you must look, to hear you must listen and to feel you must reach out and touch. Many who complain of no spiritual experiences have not done these things.

345. Some people can be happy in the rain, others miserable in the sunshine – like the old adage says: “People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

346. You Be May Risking the Dark Side IF:

(1) You are willing to deceive at the drop of a hat to get what you want.

(2) You will enter a state of denying wrongdoing when your controversial acts are brought to light.

(3) You accuse the innocent of wrongdoing

(4) You support taking away the freedom of the many to support a power base for the few.

(5) You are willing to manipulate law, authority and regulation to enforce your ideal of what is righteous.

(6) You support lawlessness and violence to get what you want.

(7) You present yourself as in harmony with those who you want to forcibly change.

347. If one has a false foundational belief then even the finest logic will be flawed and destroy that which is real, or true. To find the real one must build on a foundation of truth.

348. Chances Are You Are Headed for the Straight and Narrow Path IF:

(1) You contemplate the will of God and try to manifest it.

(2) You look beyond obnoxious personality traits to see the Christ within others.

(3) You are motivated by love of others above love of the material self.

(4) You attempt to give more than you receive.

(5) You attempt to be as harmless as a dove and wise as a serpent.

(6) You thirst after light, love and knowledge.

(7) You are an example of goodwill to all.If one has a false foundational belief then even the finest logic will be flawed and destroy that which is real, or true. To find the real one must build on a foundation of truth.

349. Energy follows thought. Thought follows directed intelligence. Intelligence follows light. Light follows our Source to God.

350. It is interesting how happy people look when they are in motion, exercising, dancing or playing. Then when the mind is in creative motion the same thing happens on a higher level. Perhaps we could say that happiness is life in forward motion.

351. The only way to harmonize with the Word, which is pure Truth, is to become the truth ourselves. When all the words we speak are words of truth, and promises which come true, then the barrier between man and God evaporates.

352. Light is something, darkness is no thing; light is manifestation, darkness is unmanifest; light reveals, darkness hides. Eternity is the recycling of these two.

353. Dedicate a space you occupy most often while in thought or reflection. It could be an easy chair, the place where you sit at the computer or even a bare floor. That space can then become holy to you so when you occupy it, your mind will be at peace, as if in a temple of the Most High.

354. When we have the choice to find the truth of a thing then we must find that truth or take a step backwards into darkness.

355. You know you are a reasonable person if:

  1. You do not dismiss facts that disagree with your belief system.
  2. You do not distort reality, as it has actually transpired, to support your belief system.
  3. Your beliefs have evidence or good logic to back them up.
  4. You are willing to consider that many of your beliefs are incorrect.
  5. When someone disagrees with a cherished belief you respond with calm reason making no personal attack.
  6. You seek to understand the other person’s argument when he disagrees with you.
  7. You will not assume something is true because of anecdotal evidence.
  8. You’ve read material on both sides of various issues and beliefs.
  9. When referring to a point of argument you quote it accurately, as it was intended to be understood.
  10. You realize that most people agreeing on something, even within your chosen group, does not make it true.

356. When the seeker fulfills outer responsibilities and creates a rhythm so energy is not wasted there is an inner reflection where focus on the light becomes easier and natural causing a subtle rise in consciousness.

357. Change is coming to your life. It will either come from past causes beyond your control, or decisions that guide you in the Present. Take charge now; make a decision and act upon it.

358. When the power of Attention is one with the Purpose of God all things are possible and the magical power of the soul is manifest.

359. It is important to realize that many are happy with the level of truth they have attained. If someone presents to them a greater light than they are ready for, it will be like a great light in a dark room and a painful experience for them. They will often fight against it.

360. Only the weak who lack reasoning ability and a center of truth demand censorship or restrictions on freedom of speech for others.

361. As the seeker unveils truth after truth he enters a lonely realm, leaving many friends behind who cannot see through his eyes. Then at that moment where he seems alone in the universe a door is open and he is engulfed by a multitude of new friends of celestial presence, invisible to carnal eyes. He never feels alone again.

362. The greatest hell is to have nothing new to create. Hell is creating that which has been over and over until boredom becomes so great that the life force flatlines.

363. Oneness through understanding and free will is divine; whereas oneness forced through authority is a source of great evil.

364. That which is done can be undone, that which is destroyed can be made anew and dreams which have never been, can be.

365. Sooner or later each person’s belief will come in conflict with maximum freedom for all. The choice will be more freedom for the whole, involving some sacrifice, or less freedom and a temporary free lunch at another’s involuntary expense.

366. Two groups may have similar goals and be of similar quality, yet both destroy their effectiveness because of attempts to establish superiority for ego’s sake. So much more could be accomplished if they worked together on points of agreement.

367. Be not discouraged by the difficulty in bringing light to the world. A small seed properly planted and generously nourished can multiply a hundred, a thousand or a million fold in short order. Therefore, plant what you can in good ground, nourish with love and stimulate with light.

368. Beauty, intelligence and spirituality are all judgments of the mind, but without such judgments we would be a savage lot.

369. Many there are who claim to be great ones, or speak for God, but have done nothing more than restate teachings of others while adding no new principles.

370. Emotions are not to be denied or suppressed but communicated with as much honesty and harmlessness as possible, else many physical and emotional problems will occur.

371. When you find the good, the beautiful and the true in others you can then find it in yourself.

372. There are degrees of freedom just as there are degrees of consciousness. He who discovers the inner spiritual world opens the door to a greater realm of choices.

373. Most people can be manipulated by pressing emotional buttons. The few decide for themselves even when unjustly attacked or insulted.

374. When humanity is finally governed by the principle of goodwill to all, we will have arrived at the greatest advance in life since consciousness itself.

375. That which is most feared, and avoided like the plague, is the truth.

376. People of goodwill often feel powerless, as if they are having no effect. This is not the case. A good seed grows and a bad one does not. Plant 1000 bad seeds and one good one, then, after a period of time, the only one that multiplied is the good – a hundred, one million and one billion fold.

377. The fool believes what he wants, ignoring the facts, the ideologue rejects obvious truth, but the true seeker accepts truth as shining gems that light his way to paradise.

378. Blessed are they who make others aware of the unseen sun behind the clouds, of the goodwill in the hearts of the many and that peace on earth is in our future.

379. It is a natural tendency to rest after achieving a difficult goal. An error made by many is to rest for too long. The problem becomes devastating for progress when the rest continues without end.

380. Adjust consciousness to the truth instead of distorting reality to a mindset.

381. Attention must be placed, not on the body, but the life within the body; not on stone temples, but on building living relationships, not on the forms of the world, but the divine intelligence that creates them.

382. Hate and anger as well as love and goodwill are contagious. Let us therefore infect all we contact with the positive emotions and let the negative die through lack of attention.

383. You are in the right place at the right time so focus on the right decision.

384. A great mind will listen to all, great and small, but does not let outward pressure force upon him careless decisions. His prime guidance will be from his own mind, heart and soul, no matter how loud the outer voices may be.

385. The majority seek peace and goodwill, but a minority desiring power bring hate and destruction. It is time for the many who are reasonable to control the few who are not.

386. The wise student (or one who is truly learning) does not see himself as on a lower level than the teacher. Instead, he sees himself as a fellow traveler who is progressing to a higher level.

387. As the seeker progresses, he moves away from outer material controls and subjects himself to inner spiritual ones. The one with no control, high or low, is lost.

388. Three things turn words from fading vibration into words of power. First, they must be spoken with purpose and understanding. Second, the speaker sends them forth riding on the power of his will. Finally, he must perform whatever action is necessary to see them manifested.

389. To give credit to God for all good things is right and good. However, it is a slothful servant who turns over to God things he should be doing himself.

390. People come into our lives because their consciousness shares a certain note with our own.

391. A thousand mile journey begins

Not with the first step

But with the thought, the intent

The first step is inclined

By a journey out of sight

Ten thousand miles of light

In the mind.

392. To see no evil when evil is opening the door, committing violence and shutting down free speech, creates a darkening that will blind the eyes to new vistas of light and love.

393. Every virtue must be applied with good judgment else it will turn into a vice.

394. The beginning of the quest for spiritual liberation did not begin in some ancient past, but right here, right now. It is only in the present where the next step must be taken.

395. Anyone can claim revelation by giving data that could be easily supplied by the imagination. What the false prophet cannot do is enhance true principles and give out consistent words of wisdom.

396. To be unchanging is good if it is referring to reliability, but evil if it implies doing the same thing over and over which leads to eternal boredom and death. Even God says: “I make all things new.” Rev 21:5

397. Through united activity strength is multiplied. Add union of emotional support and power is multiplied again. Even greater multipliers are union through love, understanding and reason. When to these are added union through spiritual vision all things become possible, even if the numbers are small.

398. If productive service to humanity conflicts with a belief, then let the seeker alter that belief, not the service.

399. There are always two paths before us; one is always higher than the other, but sometimes the choice is not clear. Choose well and reflect. If your choice is in error make corrections and choose again.

400. Only make promises you can keep. The key to this is to look at the worst-case scenario and ask yourself: “If this occurs, can I keep my word?”

401. Recognizing failure and correcting it often produces more progress in the life of the soul than attempting to take a giant leap forward into the light.

402. “I love you,” said the soul as it looked upon the soul of the adorable one as well as the despised.

403. There are three types of people on the planet. Those who seek to expand human freedom and work actively toward this. Those who are willing to restrict freedom to advance their beliefs, and, finally, neutral ones who proclaim freedom and peace but refuse to engage in the struggle that is required.

404. A little of something being good doesn’t mean a lot is better.

405. Be inclusive rather than exclusive, unite rather than divide and accept rather than reject whenever wisdom allows.

406. Serving self for the purpose of self is the dark path, but taking care of self to maintain vital strength to serve is the path of light.

407. To diminish freedom of innocent people so that good may come is illusion and the foundation of great evil.

408. We pray for many things of which we are not willing to pay the price. No wonder the heavens seem to be sealed.

409. Truth is distorted by attachments to illusions that must be dispelled before it can be clearly seen.

410. Those who try to be neutral in the face of aggression are not neutral at all but lend power to the aggressor.

411. There is no one else like you, there is no other day like today and never before an opportunity as is now set before you.

412. The soul is the dream of God and we are the dreams of the soul.

413. Each life that manifests here does so in the hope of Becoming that which it has never been, but without the loss of that which has forever been.

414. In the past age great lives have taught the world by sacrifice even to death and Imprisonment. In this age the keynote will be to teach the world through their creative and inspiring lives.

415. Without duality there can be no love. There can be no love unless there is two or more of something. One of the great purposes that God created the universe was so love could become manifest. If God had not created us there would be nothing to love.

416. It is only after we have done all we can do that we can expect Divine help to assist us to the next level.

417. Many disciples in the world are looking for a revelation leading to shutting the door to evil, opening the door to the new age of peace and plenty, while ignoring inspired steps already revealed. The first step on the ladder must be taken before the third or the fourth.

418. A grand key to freedom is self-sufficiency. The more you depend on other people, groups and government the more power you give away. Therefore, take control of your physical needs, your health and your destiny. When you remove yourself from those who can command you against your will, the path to happiness and freedom become open.

419. You learn to do by doing, to think by thinking and to love by loving.

420. Many highly educated people are not as good at getting truth from data available as the average construction worker.

421. The natural and eternal interplay of cause and effect creates light, and light is the foundation of all life, intelligence, gods, angels as well as physical life.

422. Time is a measure of motion. Motion is a quality of form. Form is created by thought. Thought is a manifestation of light and light leads us back to our Source.

423. Idealistic peaceful and loving thoughts will not counter a definite physical aggression against the innocent with intent to diminish freedom. Such force must be met with greater force until the door where evil dwells is shut and sealed.

424. People fear taking risks, but the greatest risk is to fear them too much.

425. When the many say “do not” that is the time to do; when they rush forward is then time to pause and reflect. When they all agree is the time to question.

426. Humanity stumbles along and finds indications of truth here and there but remains largely in the dark. But when it puts those pieces together and begins to see the whole picture the world will be transformed with light.

427. There are no limits to consciousness unless you think there is.

428. There are the many who plan their lives as if present conditions will continue indefinitely, and the few who weigh the influences on the horizon and adjust their lives accordingly.

429. A falsehood is repeated many times to trick the sleeping masses into acceptance. Truth only needs to be spoken once to the soul of one who is awake and listening.

430. Many with good intentions inadvertently support darkness rather than light, slavery instead of freedom and destruction over creation.

431. Seek as if there is infinite knowledge, work as if the world depends on you and love as if there are no limits to what you can give.

432. A true friend is one that will not complain if you wake him up at 3 AM with a problem.

433. It often seems that we as individuals have little power until it is realized how few use the individual power we have. The individual has great power when moving forward with confidence.

434. As a parent you expect your children to obey your commands, largely for their own safety. When they mature you no longer give commands but expect them through their own initiative to overcome life’s obstacles to joyful living – just as our Father/Mother God, does with us.

435. The truth can make you free, but if it is rejected when staring you in the face the bonds of slavery are made strong.

436. Every once in a while you meet someone who vibrates harmoniously with an inner chord in your breast. Make this person a part of your life.

437. One looks at a flower and sees a flower. Another looks and sees unfathomable beauty.

The master of wisdom contemplates and sees a divine creation holding the secrets of the universe.

438. Focused thought in the few is powerful, but in the many it is unstoppable.

439. We live in an age of hypocrisy. The loudest voices for peace are often the most destructive. Many who proclaim love have a seething hatred of those with a different view. Those who clamor for equality often support division and favors. It is time to remind ourselves to practice what we preach.

440. Be still and know that God is in you.

Be silent and hear Her voice.

Be willing and do His will.

441. The degree of happiness attained is largely determined by the depth of oneness shared with other individuals as well as your own soul.

442. Let your light shine from the internal fire and embrace the burning with joy.

443. Without someone to see them; there would be no stars.

444. If a truth, sincerely presented, offends, then the problem is with the receiver, not the messenger.

445. Good dominates where there is freedom, openness, light and truth. Evil will dominate where freedom is suppressed and darkness hides the real. Let us therefore be vessels of undistorted truth.

446. Fulfill the dreams of others and you will fulfill your own.

447. When mediocrity becomes a standard for praise then those great souls who reach for greatness will be trampled under foot.

448. The road to success is paved with stepping stones of failure which have been learning exercises to make us stronger.

449. If that which is desired determines what is accepted or rejected as true then the belief system will be a distorted mixture of truth and error – in other words, a fantasy existence.

450. Truth is best understood when it is seen in the greatest of simplicity, but when applied often multiplies into immense complexity. The seeker therefore must break down the elements of distortion in this world into its simplest parts to discern the real from the unreal.

451. The desire for power, when not tempered by love, can never be quenched.

452. Light and truth bring complete understanding whereas illusion creates gaps in knowledge that cannot be explained.

453. Ask not as if you are poor seeking from the rich, but realize you have the wealth of heaven now and affirm that which is a correct desire.

454. You cannot see unless you look, or hear without listening or feel without touch. The taking in of knowledge, both visible and invisible, requires focused attention.

455. If two disagree one or both is in illusion. If illusion is dispelled they will both see as one.

456. Contrasting shades of darkness can give the illusion of vision to those who refuse to look and see the light within.

457. When you choose a path you choose its destination; therefore look not only at where you are, but where you are going.

458. Many borrow the words of angels yet think the thoughts of devils. Thoughts are more powerful than words – therefore always look to the heart of the sender.

459. Those with a high degree of spiritual focus have amplified power in their words and thoughts. Therefore, speak up for the cause of truth. You are more powerful than you suppose.

460. Truth only needs to be communicated with quiet reasoning. It needs not force or the clamoring of mobs to make its point.

461. There are those who know, those who think they know and those who definitely know not. Choose today the category to which you will belong.

462. Harboring ill feelings toward another is like attacking yourself. Forgiveness is the sensible thing.

463. Common sense beats no sense every time; reason always trumps the thoughtless and truth remains when error is long forgotten.

464. All fear is related to concern about loss. When the seeker reaches the point where the focus is on the eternal invulnerable self he will have mastered fear.

465. Experience is the desire of all life. Even when we are asleep, we dream and when we think we are awake we still dream.

466. Total honesty cannot be achieved unless one’s limitations are known. People often lie at a point of tension when they thought they would not.

467. A thought is never completely hidden. Each thought produces ripples in the stream of universal life and can be assimilated by those who know.

468. A thought is never completely hidden. Each thought produces ripples in the stream of universal life and can be assimilated by those who know.

469. The seeker who makes the most progress takes one doable step at a time. The path is lined with failures that attempted many steps in one, faltered and became discouraged.

470. Your progress toward Spirit is not determined by the data in your head, but by your ability to sort out truth from error and act upon it.

471. Those who love and seek truth find peace while those who attack, deceive and distort create storms engulfing their own lives.

472. There are many things people do not see because they do not look and they do not look because they do not want to see or understand.

473. All beings who have reached the God consciousness identify with the One God and share a oneness of thought. Innumerable beings in the universe share this consciousness which we seek to attain.

474. To find the truth we must be willing to let go of the “familiar spirit” and become open to accepting that which is not familiar.

475. Many dogmas and illusions force us toward belief systems with no appeal to common sense or logic of any kind.

476. The decision between good and evil is not a decision between blissful love and demonic madness. If the choice were that obvious, then all would choose the path of light. Instead, many are deceived in thinking they are doing right when they support harmful acts and loss of freedom toward those who do not support their beliefs.

477. Feelings, both positive and negative, are there for a reason. To allow them harmless expression and release brings peace, health and vitality.

478. The strongest prison bars are created by our own thoughts.

479. You are an idea in the mind of God. It is therefore your responsibility to become a good idea.

480. Thoughts produce ideas, ideas create plans, plans manifest purpose and purpose gives meaning to life.

481.  Heaven or hell is created by the company you keep.

482.  When humanity learns to harmonize their actions with the kingdom of God within, then the wondrous kingdom of God without will manifest.

483. Being in the image of God you have all the powers of godliness lying unrealized within you. If you decree that you are separate from God then it will seem as if God has spoken it. Retract that command and discover your true oneness with All That Is.

484. We are creators in the image of God. This gives both love and fear great power. Choose which one you want to manifest.

485. The truth will make you free, but a good falsehood will make you think.

486. The Hebrew word for God in the Bible is Elohiym which means “Gods,” plural. This is because God is a shared group consciousness, something which we hope to attain.

487. There are things in life over which you have control and others that you do not. Forget about those that you cannot control and concentrate on those that you do.

488. Create a time each day where your mind pays no attention to the troubles of the world, or your personal problems, and see where your inner life takes you.

489. To take offense when no offense is intended is offensive to civility.

490. The difference between success and failure is often measured in inches, not miles. Some of the greatest successes have been achieved by just pressing forward only by a small degree more than the many who failed.

491. Material inertia is always there, pulling us toward inactivity in Spirit. The disciple must use the force of will to counter it. If he ceases this he will crystalize to stagnation in older age.

492. Look for Christ in your neighbor and you will find Him, but seek for the devil in his heart and it will be there too.

493. If, in order to fulfill his own desires, one supports that which will limit the freedom of others, he will be reborn in a situation where that which is important in life is kept from him because he has diminished freedom to pursue.

494. Each life in its own way sees the birth of innocence, the influx of evil, the birth of Christ, the miracles of Christ, the resurrection of Christ and, finally, the end of the world at death.

495. An honest disagreement or question is different than a mean spirited attack and should not be discouraged. Sometimes such questioning will cause a change of direction for the better.

496. Each belief system has its own language and to reach those trapped within it one must discover, adapt and speak their language.

497. The gap in understanding of language from one belief system to another is as great as from one national language to another.

498. The sin of separateness will not be solved by force but by raising the light of truth and understanding above our heads for all to see.

499. Many of those who pray for God to appear and destroy their enemies would find themselves to be the enemy to God if He did just that.

Discovering the New Age, Part 1

Discovering the New Age, Part 1

There has been a lot of talk in new age and esoteric circles about Piscean and Aquarian qualities and aspects that surface in our society. The Piscean is generally associated with the old that is passing away and no longer applicable and the Aquarian with the new that will be a part of the new age of peace, prosperity, love etc.

The problem with numerous assumptions made is that many tend to associate their own ideals and bias with the coming great age and associate all they dislike with the passing age of Pisces, generally seen as a pretty bad age that we should be happy to leave behind, or bury with the dead bones of the ignorant. Nowhere is this attitude more prominent than in the political world. The political view that is supported is seen as Aquarian and the opposing side is seen as old age or Piscean.

Let us attempt to put aside prejudices and do our best look at this subject objectively. The first thing we must do is draw a demarcation between Piscean and Aquarian characteristics so we can spot them in today’s climate. Without doing this it is pretty meaningless to just state that Joe the bartender’s views are old age with no light to them.

In examining the two ages we must not only take into consideration the astrological aspects, but also the Rays. The rays three, five and seven are active and closely linked to mind and harmonize well with Aquarius which is an air sign. Air is a symbol of the mind. Ray seven will produce the greatest changes in the near future and it is associated with Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius.

Just as Pisces is passing away so is the dominating ray of that age which is six. Pisces is a water sign, symbolic of emotions and ray six is the most emotional of the rays, governing the solar plexus. The water influence of Pisces with the idealism of ray six makes for a very emotional age where the people will often follow a course that runs contrary to logic.

As we read the history of the past two thousand years we indeed see that strong illogical emotions often governed the day rather than the voice of reason.

That said, let us tabulate some of the qualities of the passing age as well as the new.

Pisces

Strong emotional dominance, often powerful enough to override reason, logic and facts.

A focus on an ideal that stirs the emotional center. This causes people to emphasize perfection and is why there has been so much attention placed on Jesus as the perfect man who is linked to a perfect God.

A focus on sacrificing for the ideal in hope of benefiting in the next world.

An emphasis on strong authority that takes the place of analytical thinking.

Seeing things in black and white rather than the nuances in between.

A willingness to put individual freedom aside and be controlled by external powers. Slavery was widespread during the past age and individual freedom suppressed and often seen as heresy.

Strong judgmental approach. The Inquisition was an example of this.

Aquarius

People will switch from an emotional polarization to a more mental one. Logic and reason will play a much lager roll in decision making.

Growing focus will be placed on service for the good of the many.

Less emphasis will be placed on the ideal and perfection and more on what works and benefits humanity.

Using sacrifice to achieve a goal in hope of benefiting in the this world.

An emphasis of questioning authority and finding out the truth for oneself through his own efforts.

There will be a moving away from the black and white judgmental attitude and people will attain a broader scope of vision, seeing many shades of gray.

Maximum freedom will be sought and secured by the establishment of just and fair laws supported by the will of the majority of the people.

The seventh ray, which governs business, will influence business to continue to evolve. We will see more employee owned businesses and various types of cooperatives surface. Law, which is also seventh ray, will begin to adhere to the Law of Economy and assist business and the people rather than creating unwarranted obstacles.

If I had to distil the differences of the two ages down to a paragraph it would be this.

Decision-making in passing age of Pisces was governed by emotion and influenced by strong authority. In the new age it will be governed by mind, putting logic and reason ahead of feelings.

Right now we are between the two ages. The emotional control of Pisces still dominates over mind. The reason for this lingering of emotional control is that there are still many sixth ray egos incarnating and, according to DK, we’ll still see a lot of them for the next 120 years. After that, the sixth ray will be mostly out of incarnation and we will see the rise of a humanity that is capable of being polarized in the mind, which makes logical decisions rather than feel-good emotional ones that often lead to disaster.

Let us hope that civilization holds together until that day arrives.

Many of the things that have been accepted by the majority of seekers as positive change are correctly seen as Aquarian, or new age, in tendency. Here are a few:

(1) The shift away from authoritarian rule toward democracy. There is still way too much authoritarianism, but we are much better off than was the world in the midst of the Piscean Age.

(2) The shift toward the scientific method and acceptance of proven scientific discoveries.

(3) The shift away from absolute control of the church and religious authorities.

(4) The shift away from teachings that have no foundation in logic and common sense. There are still a lot of non-sensible teachings afloat, but humanity has taken a few steps toward the more logical side of things.

(5) The abolition of slavery and the shift toward greater individual and group freedom.

Wendell Phillips reminded us that this shift could be temporary. He said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty; power is ever stealing from the many to the few.”

Indeed we always have the power hungry seeking to control the many for the benefit of the few.

(6) The rise of charitable and service organizations that help those in need.

(7) The rise of spiritual investigation not connected with any church or dogma.

(8) The dramatic increase in technology, including. Technology involving air and space travel is particularly Aquarian, though technology as applied to business is strong also.

Now let us examine the controversial items on which there is much division, not only among spiritual seekers but all classes of people.

Paramount among them are:

Which political candidate to support?

Since both sides of the equation represent numerous issues, examining the choice becomes complicated. To determine whether one is Pisces or Aquarian in approach he needs to ask himself this question.

Is my decision on which party or candidate to support based on emotion or mind, reaction or reason, the good of the whole or satisfying the part?

The tricky thing about sorting out those who make decisions based on emotion is that many emotionally based people are found on both sides of the political equation. An emotionally based choice that is the better of the two is generally based on luck, but it often happens. They happen to get their data from a correct source or authority and it feels right to them so they go with it because of how it makes them feel. Without using the weight of mind though they will often make the wrong choice in other matters. Only through the application of mind, reason and logic can humanity as a whole consistently make the choice that is the greater good.

Another problem is that the person who makes a choice because of emotional polarization doesn’t see it that way. Many such people are very intelligent with good memories and have lots of facts, statistics and talking points in their computer brains. Almost all people whether they be polarized in the mind or emotions see themselves as following the path of reason and common sense. No one likes to think otherwise, no matter how unreasonable their conclusions may be.

If many of those making feeling based decisions are also intelligent then why would they stay with the emotional decision over the reasonable one?

The answer is that the emotions are very powerful. Everyone perceives the emotion of love on some level and feel that if their decision is based on this then it is the most reasonable in the end. The problem is that there are many glamours and illusions in the way of seeing perfect love, so being motivated by the emotion of love, especially solar plexus love, is not an accurate guide for decision making.

First, one must go though the avenues of the mind and learn to see the wisdom aspect of the heart center to see reality as it is. When the seeker has done this then he can make wise decisions as well as do that which is in harmony with inclusiveness and loving our fellow men and women.

Here is how it works for the intelligent, but emotionally polarized person.

He examines the surface of the issues and one side just feels much better than the other. From that point on his feelings cause a possible open mind to shut down. Instead of looking for the truth wherever it may lie he only looks for facts and reason that will verify his original feeling. He then proceeds with all the resources of a mentally polarized person to gather information to prove to himself and others that his feeling was correct.

An example of this we can all relate to is the illusion prevalent for thousands of years that the earth was the center of the universe with the sun and all the stars circling around it.

Now, all things considered, there was only a 50/50 chance that the sun circled around the earth. It was equally possible that it was the earth that circled around the sun. Why then was it that over 99% of the population believed the illusion?

The answer is simple. Each emotionally based person feels himself to be the center of the universe, so naturally the earth on which he resides is also the center of all things.

The idea that the earth is the glorious center of all creation harmonized with feelings of the Piscean aged people. We, as a people, had to be dragged away from this idea, kicking and screaming, until realty stared us in the face with such power that we were forced to acquiesce.

Today, both the emotionally and mentally polarized yield to the proof that it is the earth that circles around the sun.

BUT… that old idea still has residual power causing many intelligent, but deluded people to believe that:

  • The earth is the only planet in the universe with life.
  • The earth is special in God’s eyes and is the crown jewel of the universe.
  • The earth is the center of a great battle between the forces of good and evil in the universe.

The truth is that earth is only one of trillions of planets in the universe with various forms of life. It is more beautiful than most, but not unique or the center of anything except from this point of view. Every creation and life in the universe is a center from which all things in its periphery must be discovered.

The Kingdom of God, Part 1

The Outer Kingdom

Let us take a closer look at the parables of the mustard seed. Many people look at this and other parables and figure there is only one true meaning that needs to be discovered. Then when an interpretation is found that seems to work many will figure that is one is correct and all others are false.

This isn’t really the way it works. All inspired teachings contain true principles and true principles can manifest truth in a number of different ways.

On the other hand, any old interpretation will not work, but must correspond to the ingredients of the parable or teaching. In other words, the interpretation must have an internal harmony. If two interpretations have this harmony then they could both be true representations and beneficial for the receiver.

Here is the mustard seed parable:

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. Matt 13:31-32

The standard interpretation by the Christian community is that the Kingdom of heaven here was the gospel which had a very small beginning but now has many millions of believers.

That works for their belief system but the correspondence is somewhat flawed. The “gospel” is generally defined by them as the “good news” of the resurrection and not as the kingdom of heaven.

The kingdom of heaven has two aspects, the inner and the outer.

Many New Agers believe that the kingdom of heaven (or God) is only within us and has no external manifestation and quote this famous verse.

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21

Jesus was placing emphasis here on the inner kingdom which he said would not be discovered throught outward observation. Some think that this means that there is no such thing as an outward kingdom, but Jesus never said such a thing.

We know he acknowledged an outer kingdom. In his response to the Jewish leaders he said:

“The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.” Matt 21:43

A “nation” is an outward manifestation.

The Gospel of Thomas in the third saying supports the idea of both an inner and outer kingdom:

“the Father’s kingdom is within you and it is outside you.”

Jesus was asked about the outside kingdom just before his ascension:

“When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” Acts 1:6-7

The apostles, who had been with Jesus from the beginning of his ministry to Israel, obviously still believed in an outer kingdom. It appears that Jesus taught them nothing to negate this thinking. As further evidenced of this, notice that in answer to their question he did not say something like: “You are in error in looking for an outer kingdom because there is only an inner one.”

Instead he said, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.”

This is interpreted by most students to mean that a physical kingdom was in the plan, but its timetable was not revealed.

At that time Jesus was emphasizing the inner kingdom so that is where he wanted them to place their attention. Creating an outward kingdom within the Roman Empire was not feasible in that age

Jesus did look forward to an outer kingdom and told his followers to pray for such a thing as follows:

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt 6:10

Here he prays for the kingdom to come on “earth.”

Ad what would cause that to happen? If the will of God is “done on earth as it is in heaven” then there will appear a physical kingdom on earth where that will is carried out.

This is only good logic. In history there have always been a few who have discovered the kingdom of God within, but there has never in recorded history been a significant gathering of such people. But what would happen if the numbers of such people increased and they gathered together? We would then have that which is the kingdom within manifesting as the kingdom without and fulfilling the words of Thomas:

“the Father’s kingdom is within you and it is outside you.”

Jesus lamented that an outer kingdom was not able to manifest:

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” Matt 23:37-38

Obviously, Jesus yearned for a physical gathering of lights and was disappointed that the times and seasons were not in alignment for such an event.

Now we have established that there is an inner and outer application to the meaning of the kingdom of God, let us see how this applies to the interpretation of the mustard seed parable.

The Outer Interpretation.

The parable begins saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field.”

Notice that Jesus did not limit the manifestation of the kingdom to just the mustard seed for in the parable of the sower generic seeds were used. Jesus said:

“The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.” Matt 13:24.

From this we gather that any “good seed” makes a usable correspondence for the kingdom of God.

So, what are the attributes of a bad or good seed?

Attributes of the bad seed:

(1) They produce a plant which is of little use or obnoxious and takes nourishment from the good plants.

(2) The seed may be dead and have no prospect of growing.

(3) A seed that may have good potential but doesn’t have the strength to mature and be of service.

Attributes of the good seed:

(1) It produces a plant that provides a good service or nourishing fruit.

(2) The seed is alive and able to grow.

(3) As it grows it gathers the strength to mature and be of service to humankind.

The mustard seed was not only a good seed, but unique enough to be singled out by Jesus. And why did he do this?

Because the mustard seed grew proportionally more than other seeds. It started out as something very small and grew into a very large and useful plant. It corresponds to the physical kingdom as predicted by Daniel who spoke of a “stone that smote the image (the kingdoms of the earth) became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.” Dan 2:35

He clearly speaks of this physical kingdom:

“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever… the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.” Dan 2:44-45

It is interesting that Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a small seed that became a great plant and Daniel compared it to a small stone that became a great mountain. Then it is interesting that Jesus talked about one who has the faith of a mustard seed being able to move either a mountain or a great plant.

Obviously both a mountain and a plant are symbolic of the Kingdom of God.

That said then how does the physical kingdom correspond to the parable?

It corresponds on two obvious levels. On the first level we correspond the seed to the word, or the message about the kingdom of God. This started as a very small thing with one man, Jesus, teaching the principle. Now the basic idea is understood in some form throughout all the earth.

The second level refers to the gathering of those who have the Word or seed planted in their hearts. According to Daniel, this will only materialize after the coming and going of other plants or kingdoms. In other words the seed will be alive but not nourished enough to sprout for a significant period of time. When it does sprout, however it will multiply and not only fill the earth, but replace all other kingdoms.

It is indeed a true principle that when a better idea is introduced that, even though it may be resisted at first, that it will eventually be embraced by all.

The time will indeed come that the song of the angels will become manifest – “Peace on earth, good will to men.”

When peace, good will and brotherhood start to manifest and grow as a wonderful plant then eventually all people will want to participate.

When this occurs “the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”

The birds represent freedom of thought and those who value freedom of expression are attracted to the kingdom of God and seek to join with it and rest under its protection.

Even the physical manifestation of the kingdom will not come in such a way that people will say ,”lo here” or “lo there!” It will develop as does a plant over a period of time, taking centuries to perfect.

Just as civilization developed over a long period of time and there is no single date that we can point to and say, “lo there” is when it appeared, even so will there be numerous stages in the manifestation of the kingdom of God on the earth. The journey for the lights is long and difficult, so let us begin.

The Kingdom of God, Part 2

Blayne:

It’s taken me a life time to come to grips that it will take generations and I may not see what I would like to see in the way of significant changes in this life time but I have made a decision that I am in it for the long haul and actively working toward that end with the highest I know. Hopefully I can live up to that in this and subsequent life times…

JJ

That is the attitude the disciple must have. Those who make plans for their part in the Great Work with only one life in view make a great mistake in planning. Unlike us mortals who have plans with a beginning, middle and end that can be accomplished within a lifetime, the great Plan of God for humanity is ongoing and spans through many lifetimes.

It is human nature to desire to wrap up a work or project or to see the fulfillment of a dream in one lifetime. This is why, for 2000 years now that Christians have expected something like the end of the world or the coming of Christ in their lifetime. In each age we think we are living in a special time where the most significant events in history are happening. Now it is true that some periods of history are more crucial than others but so far we haven’t seen anything close to the end of the world.

Unfortunately we do live in a crucial age where we have weapons of mass destruction that have the capacity to destroy civilization so let us hope we can navigate through the next couple generations holding civilization intact.

Barring mankind making a huge blunder, a couple hundred years from now historians shall look back on this time and see it as an interesting time, but probably no more crucial than numerous other time periods of history. When you think of it World War II is hard to beat as far as significant time periods go.

The U.S. presidential elections bear out this thinking. Every four years, as we approach the election, we begin to hear that this election just may turn out to be the most important in history. Then a decade or so after the election we look back and have a much better perspective. The election was important but no more than were many others.

It is interesting that Jesus said this to his followers:

“For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” Matt 13:17

So even Jesus saw his time as a significant one, but the significant part was his appearance more than any other event.

The outer kingdom of God was often discussed by the disciples as evidenced by the Gospel of the Nazirenes Chapter 91, verse 3

And Yeshua answered and said, “O Mary, I tell you, and to each of my disciples, the kingdom of heaven is within you. But the time comes when that which is within shall be made manifest in the without, for the sake of the world.”

The disciples seemed to be of the opinion that this event was going to happen soon:

“And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.” Luke 19:11

It has been two thousand years and the world has greatly changed but no acknowledged outward kingdom has manifest.

But let us suppose we took one of those disciples from the time of Jesus and transported him to our time and let him have a look at the life through the eyes of a typical American.

The guy wakes up in a quality mattress in a quality bed that is heaven to sleep on compared to anything he has experienced.

He gets up and turns a light that burns like the sun, but has no flame. This is an amazing sight.

He then showers using some unlimited source of heavenly hot water. He then flushes his waste down this magical device that makes it disappear with no unpleasant odors involved.

As he explores the dwelling place of this guy 2000 years in the future he is amazed at the spaciousness. It is an average home of a couple thousand square feet but it seems to be built for a king.

He sees the guy turn on the stove which supplies unlimited heat to cook up a meal suitable for a king. He puts leftovers in this strange refrigerating device that keeps it fresh for many days.

Next he watches the guy get in his car and speed down a wonderfully made road. This car doesn’t need horses and can go at unheard of speeds. In no time he arrives at this large building and begins his work day. As he enters his office he first makes a couple phone calls to clients thousands of miles away. The disciple is flabbergasted at this miracle.

Next the man turns on his computer and Googles for some needed information. This really seems miraculous. At the click of a button humankind in this age can discover almost any piece of knowledge on the earth.

He then contunues to observe and discovers other miracles such as television, movies, iPhones, iPads, video games, air conditioning, central heating and much more.

So what does the disciple conclude?

This has to be the manifestation of the Kingdom of God. What else can it be when an average man lives like a king?

Of course, we know that after the guy gets a better look at the planet as a whole with billions of people going hungry and wars and rumors of wars he would realize that we still have a ways to go.

Even so, I think the disciple would realize we have indeed made some progress and would probably figure that the vision of the prophets would more completely manifest in another couple thousand years.

Actually, the next couple centuries should transition us into a great new age that will have many elements of the kingdom of God as envisioned by the prophets.

The Dominion of God

The phrase “kingdom of God” or “kingdom of heaven” is found nowhere in the Old Testament. The New Testament indicates that John the Baptist and Jesus were the first to use the terms and teach about it. It is of course, possible that the kingdom of God was a common phrase before Jesus and John, but they are definitely responsible for bringing it to fruition in the public consciousness.

The Book of Daniel tells is that God will set up a kingdom in a future time so one would assume that it could be referred to as he kingdom of God.

The Old Testament also talks about Zion where the people will “see eye to eye.” Predictions of Zion seem to forecast an outward kingdom of God.

As we said some think the kingdom of God only refers to an inner consciousness, but we gave numerous references to prove that the kingdom will be something outer as well as inner.

One of the best is found in the Gospel of the Nazirenes Chapter 91, verse 3

And Yeshua answered and said, “O Mary, I tell you, and to each of my disciples, the kingdom of heaven is within you. But the time comes when that which is within shall be made manifest in the without, for the sake of the world.”

The word “kingdom” comes from the Greek BASILEIA which means the foundation of power, or dominion” and the Hebrew MALKUW which means “a rule or dominion.”

The most consistent one word synonym for “kingdom” would be “dominion”. The kingdom of God could be called “a dominion by those who recognize the presence of God within them.”

The Kingdom of God within would be a consciousness dominated by the God within and the kingdom of God without would be a kingdom dominated, or ruled, by those who have the kingdom of God within.

Jesus didn’t really give many details about what the kingdom of God would be like once it manifested on the earth. He did give numerous parables starting with “the kingdom of God is like…” But these just pointed seekers in the general direction or gave a glimpse of meaning.

The kingdom would make a good point of contemplation for the group. Consider these questions.

(1) What are the ingredients and attributes of the outward manifestation of the Kingdom of God?

(2) How would it be different living in the kingdom of God compared to where you are living now?

(3) Are we closer to living in the kingdom of God now than they were 2000 years ago? What progress have we made?

The Kingdom of God, Part 2

Good group comments on the questions. Here are my two cents:

(1) What are the ingredients and attributes of the outward manifestation of the Kingdom of God?

Perhaps the most obvious ingredient will be in the quality of the leadership. In the kingdom the leaders will be people who have soul contact and realize that the kingdom of God is within as well as without.

During the history of civilization most of the leaders who have surfaced have been selfish and dedicated to the lower personality. Once in a while a leader with spiritual qualities will pop up, but such a thing is a rare occurrence. Usually when an advanced soul gains prominence we see that he has to work outside the system. This is what Jesus, Paul, Buddha and many other spiritual leaders had to do.

Rare examples of evolved souls working within the system would be some of the founders of the United States such as Washington, Jefferson and Franklin. And even here they didn’t exactly get their places in history by being team players with their mother country.

Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill are two men who did work within the system yet helped to take us a couple steps closer to the manifestation of the kingdom.

If the kingdom of God is a dominion of God then the spirit of God must prevail and it can only prevail in a government where the leadership is in communion with the kingdom within.

It is not as essential that the inhabitants have soul contact as much as the leaders, but a certain percentage of them having contact is important. At least a third should have some degree of soul contact to insure the kingdom is not corrupted. If 50% achieve it then the kingdom will be stable.

The second prime ingredient is freedom. Freedom and the personal responsibility that comes along with it is the principle that separates the light from the dark as far as the consciousness of humanity is concerned. Only in an atmosphere where the maximum freedom is encouraged can the light of consciousness expand freely.

The next prime ingredient is goodwill. This was part of the song that the angels sang at the birth of Jesus.

Goodwill is contagious just as are negative feelings. Enlightened leaders will be agents of goodwill and cause the populace to see the benefits thereof and adopt the same attitude.

Abraham Lincoln was a good example of this. After the brutal civil war when many wanted to make the South suffer for what they did he wanted to accept them back in as brothers and not seek to punish the leaders of the rebellion, but extend the hand of fellowship.

Unfortunately he was killed before this unusual approach could be carried out and the South wound up being treated harshly which left behind bad feelings that simmers to this day.

The Allies did carry out the Lincoln approach to some extent with Germany, Japan and Italy after World War II and we have reaped the benefit of now having them be close allies.

The fourth ingredient is peace, the other key word sang by the angels.

The peace that is essential is within the kingdom itself. They shall “see eye to dye when the Lord shall bring again Zion” will be the keynote. Outside the kingdom may not be so peaceful but within the kingdom a fair degree of peace and stability is important. If the inhabitants are true ambassadors of goodwill then peace will follow.

(2) How would it be different living in the kingdom of God compared to where you are living now?

There will be a much greater sense of freedom than now exists and a lot fewer laws and regulations. The people will largely be governed by being taught correct principles and then governing themselves.

There will be greater stability. The inhabitants will not worry so much about an economic collapse. There will be little crime and violence. Citizens will feel safe walking the streets at night.

There will be an abundance of food, goods and services. People will have more free time to dedicate to creative endeavors.

A book could be written about this, but this will have to suffice for now.

(3) Are we closer to living in the kingdom of God now than they were 2000 years ago? What progress have we made?

We have definitely made some progress. Many religious figures say that the world now is more wicked than ever, but they are wrong. If one could time travel back to the days of Jesus he would be instantly convinced.

Back then slavery was accepted as being essential to civilization. All the governments were dictatorships. Rebels were publically crucified. Gladiators fought to the death for entertainment. People as a whole were unconcerned with the suffering of animals. Torture that makes waterboarding look like a picnic was common.

Overall, we have made a lot of progress in treating other humans as brothers and in honoring the value of all life. We are not perfect, but have moved forward.

We have in recent times taken two great steps that moves us closer to the kingdom. The first is the establishment of the U.S. Constitution with a government of the people. The second is the virtual elimination of slavery.

It is interesting that on the Great Seal of the United States appears these words: Novus ordo seclorum which means, “New order of the ages.”

Indeed the Founding Fathers did take us a great step further toward the manifestation of the Kingdom of God on the earth.

We still have a long way to go, but for initiates the joy is more in the journey than the arrival, so let us go forward with joyful spirits having peace and brotherhood in our hearts.

Is Peace a Bad Thing?

In response to some of my writings on the coming Kingdom of God Allan writes this on his forum;

If there was peace, then this world would be worthless to fulfill its purpose and objective.

This is actually a good thought for us to analyze. Here are some questions for the group.

Is there some truth to this statement? What is it?

Does this mean that it is fruitless to try to improve circumstances on the earth and we should only focus on inner development and ignore the outer?

Is there illusion in Allan’s view? What is it?

How does the Middle Way of the Buddha apply here?

The Question:

Would peace and goodwill on earth frustrate the plan of God?

On the surface most people would think that God would want such a thing but others have a different view which is this.

They conclude that the earth is a school and the conflict, pain and suffering that exists here are essential for us to learn our needed lessons when we incarnate. If we didn’t have to struggle and deal with a lot of conflict and discomfort then there would not be many opportunities for growth. We may want peace, but if we had it our growth would be stunted and the plan of God would be frustrated.

So, is this a correct view or not? If it is then should we not seek peace, not seek to cure cancer, and not seek to help the downtrodden? After all, we may be taking away the opportunity of others to learn by suffering. If this doctrine is true then maybe those we think are bad guys causing suffering are really good guys because they are providing opportunity to learn and progress.

So, what is the real truth behind this idea?

It is true that this planet is a great school and we do learn by struggle and hardship. The state it is in now does provide many opportunities for learning that does not exist on other planets with more peaceful societies.

But does this mean that we should not seek to improve it so we can keep the wars, disease and suffering available as lessons for us?

Anyone buying into this train of thought is caught in illusion on this matter.

The first point to understand is that students do not remain in the same class. When Algebra I is learned then they move to Algebra II. When high school is finished they move on to college.

During most of out history slavery was the norm. Did those who incarnated as slaves learn some lessons from this situation?

Yes, they did.

So, were we wrong to abolish this? Is the plan of God frustrated because we can’t be born as slaves in this age? Are Christians denied their learning because they can’t be crucified or thrown to the lions today?

The truth is that we were right to establish basic freedom just as we are also right to seek for peace and goodwill upon the earth.

While it is true that the hardships that exist on the earth provide good fodder for human lessons, it is also true that mankind is evolving and moving forward in their learning. Among the greatest of lessons we have to learn are those involved in moving society from a primitive state to an advanced state. Those who worked to abolish slavery advanced much more than those who were the slaves. Those who cure disease learn faster than those who suffer from them. Even so, those who work toward peace and actually make progress in that direction accelerate their progress and learn many wonderful lessons. They learn more than foot soldiers fighting for their lives.

So, what would be the situation then if we did finally secure peace on earth where “they shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Isa 11:9

What would happen is what happened before. In the past we learned certain lessons by being slaves, but now we are moving on to a different class with different lesson materials. When physical peace is established on the earth so nation does not take up arms against other nations then we will move to the next class.

It is important to realize that the end of physical conflict does not mean there will be an end to all conflict. When physical conflict is transcended then the focus will be on the astral/emotional plane. In fact, this transition is already in the process of happening in many countries. We see this playing out in the emotional battles between conservatives and liberals in politics. They do not fight each other physically, as did some politicians in the old days, but have heated emotional debates.

The next step forward (after the astral) in establishing peace is to move to the mental plane. Today non physical conflict is on a very emotional level and often neither side uses much pure reason. When humanity moves to the plane of the mind disagreements will be expressed without hate and anger but as one reasoning person sparring with another while actually seeking solutions.

There are many advanced classrooms waiting for us in the future of this planet. We will advance from one grade to another until 60% of humanity attains to peace, abundance and tranquility in the physical, emotional and mental levels. These 60% will achieve a degree of soul contact. These 60% will move on to more advanced classes, as we never stop learning.

The 40% remaining will have failed to learn the needed lessons from suffering and conflict. So, just as some are held back in our society and have to take classes over, even so will these students have to be sent to another planet where pain and suffering prevail to learn the lessons that they failed to take in during their time here.

Indeed the plan of God is not frustrated by the establishment of peace. Accomplishing this allows us to learn our lessons and advance. Those who are slow to learn and need more pain and sorrow will always have a place to go. There are worlds without number in this universe and as planetary classrooms are needed they will manifest. The Great Plan is never frustrated by students who assist their brothers in moving toward greater peace, abundance, learning or spiritual power.

The Kingdom of God, Part 3

There are those who rely heavily on Old Testament predictions, such as Daniel and Isaiah, and teach only of a coming kingdom that is without and visible. Then there are others who quote Luke 17:21 which says ‘the kingdom of God is within you.” Some of these maintain that there will be no outer kingdom, but the Kingdom of God is only within us and that is the only place we’ll ever find it.

As usual, the truth is somewhere in the middle, as expressed in the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of the Nazirenes.

“the Father’s kingdom is within you and it is outside you.”

The Gospel of Thomas saying three

And Yeshua answered and said, “O Mary, I tell you, and to each of my disciples, the kingdom of heaven is within you. But the time comes when that which is within shall be made manifest in the without, for the sake of the world.”

The Gospel of the Nazirenes Chapter 91, verse 3

We have touched on the idea that the kingdom will manifest without. Now let us look at the kingdom within,

So, what is the kingdom within? Some seem to think it is only one thing such as Nirvana, merging or being one with the soul or Higher Self or maybe some specific state of consciousness. These miss the point of a teaching given by Jesus:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions…” John 14:2

Indeed the kingdom within has many mansions, or states of consciousness. It is interesting that several of these states has to be accepted by even the hardened atheist.

That got your attention, didn’t it?

So where are these states of consciousness that even the non believer has to accept?

First let us clarify. The many mansions within are states of consciousness within us, not constructed of physical matter. There are two general states within that we all recognize.

The first is the emotional world. The feeling world within has no physical form, but only exists within us. The feelings consists of positive feelings such as love, hope, happiness, aspiration etc. Then there are negative ones such as fear, hate, greed and loathing.

These and numerous other feelings directly affect our state of consciousness and well being, and they all reside within us and have no outward form that can be photographed, yet even the staunchest atheist acknowledges they exist.

Within this emotional kingdom are many mansions. Some experience love, peace and joy whereas others dwell in hate, disgust and rejection.

The next kingdom within is the plane of the mind. Again the world of thought cannot be photographed but dwells completely within us. All people, believers and non believers in God and his kingdom, will admit that they do some thinking and they have to admit that it happens within them and has no physical form.

Again, this kingdom within has many mansions. The lowest aspect of mind are the calculations made by the computer brain. As we go higher in this kingdom we move into areas of thought that go beyond the range of even a supercomputer. We move into logic, reason, the grasping of ideas, which have never been seen before, the merging of thought and feeling, discernment, judgment and much more.

There are seven main mansions in the plane of the mind within.

(1) The first is linked to the center at the base of the spine and is focused on survival. The need to survive and make the best of what life has to offer has called forth a powerful application of mental powers over the course of our evolution.

(2) The second is linked to the sacral center governing sex and physical form. In this mansion we focus our minds on the sexual nature and physical form, wealth and creation. Creating the best physical mansion we can have is accomplished with this aspect of the mind.

(3) The third level is linked to the solar plexus, the seat of the emotions. Here a merging of mind and emotion takes place and too much focus on this mansion causes the pilgrim to lose his way for a time and be led astray by the world of feeling. He is often deceived into believing that feelings are thoughts that must be followed.

(4) The heart center is the midway point. The scripture says that “as a man thinketh in is heart, so is he.” Even so, when the seeker arrives at this level of mind he reaches a fork in the road. One choice takes him back into the lower mansions and the other opens the door to the higher. If he chooses the higher he then knocks on the door of the soul which opens the vistas of the higher realms which are denied by the materialistic mind.

If he decides to dwell in this mansion his mind then explores the two major aspects of the heart. The first is true spiritual unselfish love as opposed to selfish possessive love that he knew in the lower mansions. The second is the discovery of wisdom. He finds that true wisdom can only be attained when spiritual love is comprehended.

He discovers this truth: For a person or thing to be loved, it must first be understood. He finds joy in this mansion when he realizes that love, wisdom and understanding are a trinity of building blocks in this breakthrough realm.

(5) Even though the throat is fifth as we proceed upwards in the body it is not considered to be of a higher order than the heart. Humanity as a whole corresponds to the throat center of the earth whereas advanced humanity, who have achieved soul contact and discovered the spiritual kingdom of God within, are considered the heart center of the planet.

The throat governs creative consciousness and the creative consciousness can be used by the mind for purposes very devious to the sublime. Whereas the spiritual essence of the heart can only be directed toward things that will benefit others, our creative consciousness can direct intelligence to make weapons of mass destruction, torture chambers, creative methods to cheat, steal, etc.

There are many highs and lows in this mansion as evidenced by observing creative people. They are among the happiest and most miserable on the planet. The suicide rate among them is high yet when they succeed and tap into some of the consciousness of the heart they can live very fulfilling lives.

The inner mansion of creativity is indeed overall a gift to the world and from this invisible inner kingdom has come great works of art, literature, movies, architecture, technology and many other endeavors.

The next inner mansion is linked to the sixth center which lays between the eyebrows and is often called the third eye, but is technically known as the ajna center. In this mansion the consciousness can see with higher vision, things that are not visible to the material person. He can see into the world of ideas and principles and bring concepts from higher mansions and apply them within the lower, even the physical plane.

In this mansion higher vision is unlimited and with focus the seeker can discover anything he wants. Part of this higher vision can be shared with all, even the non believer of spiritual things, but then as vision expands he leaves behind the doubters and finds that much of the knowledge he gains can only be understood by others who are seeking to dwell in this mansion.

Eventually the seeker becomes one with his Higher Self and sees through eyes of higher being.

Finally, we arrive at the seventh mansion connected with the center at the top of the head. It is called the thousand-petalled lotus representing a thousand different mansion attainments. This center links heaven and earth and connects us with divine purpose.

Even though all of these inner mansions have ingredients that escape the understanding of the average person they also all have aspects that both believers and non believers accept as being a part of reality here on earth. Such people even embrace energies from the higher mansions such as unselfish love, creativity, ideas and some aspects if purpose and will.

So what does it mean then to find the kingdom of God within us? Is all there is to it is getting in touch with feelings and thoughts.

No.

But that is where we start. “Know Thyself” was written on the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi and has been a maxim since ancient times. To discover the mansions of the kingdom within we have to start wherever we are on the path and know and understand all the parts of ourselves. We begin with the part that is in contact with this physical world then move up to the invisible emotions and then to the mind. As we look within and discover how the inner world of feeling and thought works, and can be directed, we eventually open doors to new mansions of consciousness.

The breakthrough comes when we move from the lower levels of thought, governed by the lower centers, to the higher, governed by the heart, the ajna and the center at the top of the head. Higher mind, which operates with pure reason links heaven and earth and overlaps that which reaches down to the physical plane, yet extends up to the unseen worlds where dwells the soul and advanced entities.

Those who tell you to not use the mind are misled. We should not throw away the use of mind, but merely quiet mind chatter as we seek to commune with the higher realms. Mind must be with us as we seek the kingdom of God else we can fall into the many traps set by illusion, which can lead us on many false detours.

Energy follows thought and if the seeker continues to follow the highest he knows while focusing his consciousness on the highest he is aware of that dwells in him, then, after a time, he will sense movement. When the movement and the new is sensed he must put sublime attention toward it to see where it leads. Eventually, he will catch the attention of his Higher Self and be led to attain full soul contact.

There are many in the world who teach of some great shortcut that ranges from just believing in Jesus to be saved, to waiting for aliens to pick us up to take us to the kingdom.

There are no shortcuts. DK says it well – that students “have wisely learnt that enthusiastic rushing forward and a violent energetic progress has its drawbacks, and that a steady, regular, persistent endeavour will carry them further in the long run. Spasmodic spurts of effort and temporary pressure peter out into disappointment and a weighty sense of failure. It is the tortoise and not the hare that arrives first at the goal, though both achieve eventually.”

Treatise on White Magic, Page 54

I have already written extensively about making soul contact that opens the door to the inner kingdom. If readers will go to freeread.com and type “soul contact” into the search feature much reading material will be discovered.

Cremation

Alex asks for our views on cremation. I agree with DK that it is a beneficial thing to do, though it may be temporarily disturbing to those who are too attached to the physical form.

I am including some quotes from him on the subject at the end of this post.

The atoms that compose the physical body are greatly stimulated in their evolution after having the privilege of being a part of the most evolved physical form of creation in this system – the human. Then, after death what do we do with those atoms? We place then in a steel tomb where they will be imprisoned for thousands of years.

The elements of our bodies are the most evolved on the planet and deserve to be set free to seek any form that suits them.

The scripture says:

“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose.” Matt 27:52

One meaning of this scripture is a prediction that one day humanity will open the graves and free the advanced elements of the imprisoned forms.

I’ve told my wife that if I die before her that I want her to cremate my body and raise tomatoes with the ashes as fertilizer and the eat them and share then with my friends. This way the most advanced elements of my body can move on and aid others in the refinement of their own bodies.

Claude Nowell, the founder of Summum has a different teaching on the subject. He thinks the Egyptians were on the right track with mummification and advocates this. He thinks it will enable him to split his soul so there can be two of him to evolve along two different paths. I believe his followers had him mummified after he died.

Here are some quotes from DK which make more sense to me.

I would like to add one or two comments which will be of general or rather modern interest. I have said that these taints to which humanity is prone are found in the soil, and that their presence there is largely due to the burial, down the ages, of millions of corpses. By the increased use of the processes of cremation, this condition will be steadily improved. Gradually, very gradually, the taint will thus die out. It is therefore highly desirable that there be as much propaganda as possible for the use of this method of disposing of the discarded physical vehicles of the souls who are passing out of incarnation. As the soil becomes less tainted, and as soul contact is established, we can hope to see a steady decrease in the number of those who succumb to the inherited taints.

definite and rapid cures for the sexual diseases are being discovered, and these may tend to make people more reckless. When, however, they are perfected, they will in the long run safeguard the race and will return bodies to the soil after death freed from the plague which has contaminated the earth for endless ages. There will thus be brought about a gradual purifying of the soil. The growth of the practice of cremation will also aid this process of purification.

Much good will be brought about through the growing custom to cremate those forms which the indwelling life has vacated; when it is an universal custom, we shall see a definite minimising of disease, leading to longevity and increased vitality. The factor of resistance or the process whereby a form renders itself immune or non-responsive to the planetary pull and urge towards reabsorption requires the expenditure of much energy. When the life increases in potency within the form and there is less reaction to disease-conveying factors, the soul within the form will have fuller sway and greater beauty of expression and usefulness in service. This will be true some day of all the kingdoms in nature, and thus we shall have a steady radiance shining forth in the mounting glory of the Life of God.

The act of restitution is accomplished. This entire process of the focussing of the spiritual elements in the etheric body, with the subsequent abstraction and consequent dissipation of the etheric body, would be greatly hastened by the substitution of cremation for burial.

Two Main Reasons for Cremation

Occultly speaking, cremation is needed for two main reasons. It hastens the release of the subtle vehicles (still enshrouding the soul) from the etheric body, thus bringing about the release in a few hours instead of a few days; it also is a much needed means for bringing about the purification of the astral plane and for arresting the “downward moving” tendency of desire which so greatly handicaps the incarnating soul. It can find no point of focus, because essentially fire repels the form-making aspect of desire and is a major expression of divinity with which the astral plane has no true relation, being created entirely by the human soul and not the divine soul. “Our God is a consuming fire” is the statement in the Bible which refers to the first divine aspect, the aspect of the destroyer, releasing the life.

Esoteric Healing, Page 471

***

By the use of fire, all forms are dissolved; the quicker the human physical vehicle is destroyed, the quicker is its hold upon the withdrawing soul broken. A great deal of nonsense has been told in current theosophical literature about the time equation in relation to the sequential destruction of the subtle bodies. It should be stated, however, that the moment that true death is scientifically established (by the orthodox doctor in charge of the case), and it has been ascertained that no spark of life remains in the physical body, cremation is then possible. This complete or true death eventuates when the thread of consciousness and the thread of life are completely withdrawn from the head and the heart. At the same time, reverence and an unhurried attitude have their rightful place in the process. The family of the dead person need a few hours in which to adjust themselves to the fact of the imminent disappearance of the outer and usually loved form; due care must also be given to the formalities required by the state or the municipality. This time element has reference mainly to those who are left behind, to the living and not to the dead. The claim that the etheric body must not be rushed into the cremating flames, and the belief that it must be left to drift around for a stated period of several days, have also no true basis at all. There is no etheric need for delay. When the inner man withdraws from his physical vehicle he withdraws simultaneously from the etheric body. It is true that the etheric body is apt to linger for a long time on the “field of emanation” when the physical body is interred, and it will frequently persist until complete disintegration of the dense body has taken place. The process of mummifying, as practised in Egypt, and of embalming, as practised in the West, have been responsible for the perpetuation of the etheric body, sometimes for centuries. This is particularly the case when the mummy or embalmed person was of an evil character during life; the hovering etheric body is then often “possessed” by an evil entity or evil force. This is the cause of the attacks and the disasters which often dog the steps of those who discover ancient tombs and their inhabitants, ancient mummies, and bring them and their possessions to light. Where cremation is the rule, there is not only the immediate destruction of the physical body and its restitution to the fount of substance, but the vital body is also promptly dissolved and its forces swept away by the current of flame into the reservoir of vital energies. Of that reservoir it has ever been an inherent part, either in form or in a formless condition. After death and cremation these forces still exist but are absorbed into the analogous whole. Ponder on this statement, for it will give you the clue to the creative work of the human spirit. If delay is necessary from family feeling or municipal requirements, cremation should follow death within thirty-six hours; where no reason for delay exists, cremation can be rightly permitted in twelve hours. It is wise, however, to wait twelve hours in order to ensure true death.

Esoteric Healing, Pages 483-486

Another point, growing out of all the above, indicates the all-inclusiveness of the divine Life, for the lunar lords are aspects of that Life as much as is the energy of the soul.

It is therefore of prime importance that cremation should be encouraged, and not the present method of burial. Cremation returns the life of the lunar lords more rapidly to the central reservoir of life than any other method, for “our God is a consuming Fire” and all fires have affinity with the central Fire.

Permanent Atoms

Concerning those who take the left hand path and create a barrier between themselves and their souls Ruth asks:

So in essence, the person who ends up confined in this mental construct then reverts back into the lower elementals and is no longer self consciousness or self less.

JJ

Yes, he would go back to his essence and lose his self consciousness as an individual entity. DK tells us that in a future system he would start his progression all over again. This would probably involve fragmentation with parts of himself progressing through all kingdoms of nature until they are reunited again as human.

Ruth

What happens to the permanent atoms of the physical body and astral body etc? Is this still trapped within that mental construct also? Or are these taken back and absorbed back into Spirit or to the Akashic Records?

JJ

The permanent atoms remain in the causal, or soul body until the person is either liberated or takes the path of destruction

Here is DK’s words about those who misuse the inner fires.

If a man persists from life to life in this line of action, if he neglects his spiritual development and concentrates on intellectual effort turned to the manipulation of matter for selfish ends, if he continues this in spite of the promptings of his inner self, and in spite of the warnings that may reach him from `Those who watch, and if this is carried on for a long period he may bring upon himself a destruction that is final for this manvantara or cycle. He may, by the uniting of the two fires of matter and the dual expression of mental fire, succeed in the complete destruction of the physical permanent atom, and thereby sever his connection with the higher self for aeons of time. H. P. B. has somewhat touched on this when speaking of “lost souls”; we must here emphasise the reality of this dire disaster and sound a warning note to those who approach this subject of the fires of matter with all its latent dangers.

A Treatise on Cosmic Fire Pg 127

On the other hand here is what happens to the permanent atom if one achieves liberation:

The physical permanent atom absorbs the entire life force of the physical body, and its inherent heat and light is thereby increased until at the fourth initiation the seven spirillae are fully vitalised, and vibrant. The internal heat of the atom, plus the external heat of the egoic body wherein it has its place, produces then that which destroys the permanent atom. Temporarily, and just prior to destruction, it becomes a tiny sevenfold sun owing to the radiation and activity of the spirillae. So with the physical sun of the system; it will in a similar manner become seven suns, when it has absorbed the life essence of the fully evolved planes, and of the planetary schemes thereon. The ensuing conflagration is the final work of the Destroyer aspect. It marks the moment of the highest development of deva substance in the system, the consummation of the work of Agni and his fire angels, and the initiation of Brahma. Atomic substance will then individualise (which, as we know, is the goal for the atom) and after the great pralaya the next solar system will start with the threefold Spirit manifesting through substance which is essentially distinguished by active intelligent love. This is necessarily incomprehensible to our fourth round minds.

A Treatise on Cosmic Fire Pg 741

Ruth

Is the Mormon and Catholic establishments able to become restored to their original Note or Word? Or are these establishments also entrapped within a mental construct which will seal up their fate, and these foundations will eventually disintegrate?

JJ

They are both like entities, such as us humans, with a mortal life span. Neither have been successful enough for the greater lives to restore, but will live their lives onward as long as they have some usefulness. Then they will disappear or be reincarnated in another more advanced form.

Astrology

Here’s some highlights of a post I made on Allan’s list about DK’s teachings on progression through the signs of he Zodiac.

The Bailey writings on the progression seems to deal with progression related to the sun. This doesn’t mean the planets do not have influence.

No astrologer would ignore the sun sign as it is by far the most powerful influence in the chart. I’d say it would make up at least a third of the total influence of the natal chart.

The configuration of the heavens have changed somewhat over the centuries, but three things make astrology an accurate art.

(1) A thoughtform is created around various interpretations that have a strong influence even if the alignment of the heavens is not accurate.

(2) Astrologers over the ages have adjusted somewhat to the changes in alignment.

(3) If the individual astrologer has a good sense of intuition he can receive accurate impressions by focusing on he chart in relation to the vibration of he individual.

The Bailey writings introduce esoteric astrology promoting the idea that the planets that rule for those who have shifted consciousness from the personality to the soul are different as the soul conscious individual is not affected much by the thoughtforms of the past. For instance, the ruler of my sign, Aquarius, is Uranus, but the esoteric ruler is Jupiter.

Now when the Bailey writings talk about the progression of a soul, first clockwise and then counterclockwise through the zodiac we are not talking about one natal chart but many would be involved over many life times.

Bailey doesn’t say how linear this progression is, but I have developed my own views on the subject.

My personal investigation into past lives indicates a trend toward a step-by-step progression through the sun signs, but this is far from black and white. Often the incarnating soul will jump over a number of signs.

The reason for this is threefold.

(1) Before the lesson of the next sign can be properly learned the seeker must first be strengthened in other areas of his life. Hence, instead of incarnating into Capricorn he may take on Cancer influences.

(2) There are other influences besides the sun so maybe a Libra sun with lots of Gemini influences would count as a Gemini incarnation.

(3) Sometimes the seeker will not learn the needed lesson and have to repeat it. He may need a change of pace before this happens so he may jump over several signs and then come back later to tackle the lesson. Like they say a change is a rest.

In the final turn of the wheel the disciple must master and perform the twelve great labors. The key to mastery is shown in internal growth and even though twelve steps are involved all does not proceed with black and white precision, but proceed he must nevertheless.

If you are going to learn Algebra and it takes four classes to become proficient then you will need to start at Algebra I, not Algebra II or III. You will then need to move step by step through the classes. Even so, there are a number of approaches one could take. After your first class you could take a break with a class on basket weaving. You could also get materials for an advanced class to get an idea of what you will learn in the future. You can work hard and get through a class early or take it easy and spend more time on the subject. If you are doing well in Algebra I you might find some materials from Algebra III to be useful and do some advanced study to prepare for a future class.

All is not black and white but the principle of moving from a lower level to a higher one definitely takes a number of steps.

Principles of Prediction

ImAHebrew wrote:

Just exactly what is FULFILLMENT, and the Spiritual Principle behind it?

When I began reading his post I though he was talking about personal fulfillment or satisfaction, but as I read on I realized he was talking about fulfillment of prophecy, quite a different matter.

The fulfillment of prophecy is not a principle in itself but several principles are involved that can make it happen.

First, I need to make a clarifying point about prophecy itself and that is this. It is a mistake to think that any being, whether it be man, angel or God knows every detail about the future.

Here is a previous statement I made on the matter:

Many believe that God knows every single thing that will ever happen. Supposedly a thousand years ago God knew I would be writing this very sentence I am finishing now. He not only knew I’d be scratching my nose right now, but He knew who I would marry and the exact number of calories I would consume today.

The trouble is that the only way that God could know such things is if everything were predetermined and we had no free will to change it.

For those who think that God knows every detail that will ever happen I would ask why He would even want to know.

Does it not make much more sense to see that God knows his plan and what the end will be, but is unconcerned about the minutia.

When Leonardo DaVinci envisioned the Mona Lisa he undoubtedly had an idea of how he wanted the finished product to look. There was no way he could have predicted each brush stroke as the work progressed. Yet he had free will to make whatever strokes he wanted or any mistakes that happened along the way.

Even so, it is with God, and man who is in the image of God. We can plan the future but wouldn’t want to know all the details about it, even if such a thing were possible.

LINK

If we want to understand how the mind of God works all we need do is examine how the mind of man works. Why? Because we are created in the image of God.

When we create, as did DaVinci, we make a plan and know the end from the beginning, but do not know what all the happenings will be in between.

The same principle applies with higher lives. They make a plan and have a vision of how it will turn out, but do not know all the details that will unfold and neither do they want or need to know.

Many see the scriptures as a flawless guide to the future. The truth is that the words are a good source of meditation and contemplation and some glimpses of the future can be had from them, but in most cases specific predictions gleamed from them are far off the mark.

For instance, hundreds of sincere people have predicted either the end of the world or the coming of Christ over the past 2000 years and all have been wrong.

Those who are impressed with predictions that have come true always have to cite past events that seem to correlate, but rarely can find a prediction someone made from reading the Bible that came true.

The Bible Code has this same problem. Data can be found that seem to correlate past events to code in the Bible, but they can’t seem to use it to predict future happenings.

The writings of Nostradamus offer the same problem. Almost every major event, including the fall of the Twin Towers, is found in there after they occur, but no one can use his writings to consistently predict future events before they occur.

Of course, a stopped clock is right twice a day so some may come close once in a while.

That said, there are times when the future can be accurately forecast. We therefore, ask, what are the principles that will make this happen?

Here they are:

(1) Decision

If an intelligent being decides that he is going to make a thing happen that is within his power to achieve then he can successfully predict the event. For instance, if I decide to get up at 8 AM and set the alarm for that time then I can fulfill my prediction and make it happen. If I decide to build a house and have the money to finish it then I can also make that happen also.

The more evolved the life the more power at his disposal and the greater will be his range to control future events and make predictions about them.

Using this power he does not know the future because of psychism, but because he controls it.

(2) Receiving from Higher Intelligence.

We as humans are limited in our control over future happenings, but greater lives than ourselves have more power and foresight. If Higher Lives share with us some details of a planned future event then we can know some details with accuracy.

(3) Cycles

They say that history repeats itself. The repetition is never exact but the principle of cycles is always at play and by studying them one can often see the general direction we are headed.

(4) Common Sense and Reason

By studying trends and all the information at hand about them a savvy character can often predict what is coming. This is not an exact science, but is helpful. Investors spend untold amounts of time studying the stock market trends, commodities, real estate and other items. The wise ones can beat the law of averages, but none can predict exactly what will happen in the markets.

If a seeker wants guidance as to future events it is best to stay away from black and white interpretation of prophecy, as I have rarely seen such an approach bear fruit. Contemplate all the facts of the matter at your disposal and listen to the inner voice. When you choose the correct path it will just feel right.

JJ Quotes:

“Love is very closely associated with dark, but is the highest correspondence of the female polarity just as divine light is the highest correspondence to the male polarity.”

“When a light is turned on in the darkness, the darkness is no more. Darkness cannot extinguish light, but light can cause darkness to immediately disappear.”

Blayne

I think I understand what you are saying, however correct me if I am wrong. You are looking at light and dark more as positive and negative? I point this out because Love associated with the dark kind of rubs me the wrong way. I know that is because the more general consensus of dark being associated with being bad or the left hand path etc.

Actually those are two quotes written several years apart. The first is from archive #1258 written in 2001 and the second #318 from 1999. The first, as it reads, could cause one to be a little perplexed. I didn’t remember writing it and when I read it again I had to digest it to recall where I was coming from. I’ll post the original context at the end of this post to make it available.

The point is that the true duality of light and dark is different than commonly understood. Dark as is generally understood is a negative thing whereas true dark is the opposite of light and works with it to make creation possible. Light is outgoing, radiant and easy to see. The qualities of love are hidden in darkness for most people and cannot be seen but must be sensed, felt and magnetically pulled toward. The aspect of light functions in the visible world whereas love comes from the invisible and is esoterically dark to us.

Finally when the disciple balances the light and love within him he becomes a co-creator with God and his words and works are seen and felt as a blending of light and love.

“the Sun of righteousness (shall) arise with healing in his wings…” Mal 4:2

Except from post # 1258

Actually Dark appears to be the opposite of Light, but because of distortions in this physical world Dark is not a true opposite.

For instance, you can shine a Light and dispel Darkness, but you cannot shine “Dark” and dispel Light.

You can dispel hate with love, but you cannot eliminate love through hate.

Light is that which reveals (or that which is visible) and Dark is that which hides. Reality can exist in Light or Dark in the seen or unseen. Light in its highest essence is the radiation which is seen whereas its true opposite Love is not visible, but lies hid in the “esoteric dark” of life. Only by descending into the darkest depths can the fullness of Love become known.

Note what was written of Christ:

“Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.” (Eph 4:9-10)

Christ had to descend below all things so he could rise above all things and manifest the invisible love of God to us.

Love therefore is very closely associated with Dark, but is the highest correspondence of the female polarity just as Divine Light is the highest correspondence to the male polarity.

All these polarities are opposites in the general sense of the word. All these opposites work in partnership with the Divine Midway Point. Without opposition there is no creation, nothing “to act or to be acted upon.”

To say opposition is not the same as saying conflict. Conflict is the lowest correspondence of opposition, but creation is the highest. It just happens to be that conflict is sometimes an ingredient of creation. The higher correspondence of conflict is cooperation.

Opposites in conflict produce destruction and reorganization.

Opposites in cooperation produce creation and take us toward the dominating good.

Example: Male and female in cooperation create new life — a child — a product of Light and Love to fulfill Divine Purpose.

Aligning the Centers

Allan:

In the majority of the Eastern paths there is an attempt to suppress the lower centers, in order to focus on the upper centers — and this does permit the disciple to gaze at the Light of the Soul in meditation.

JJ

I’m sure there are some that may fit this description just as there are Christian teachers who seek to suppress the energies of the lower centers creating the same effect. However, this is not what the Bailey writings teach and neither is I what I teach.

All the centers are divine and in the perfected man they will all be properly tuned and vibrating in perfect harmony.

The problem is that the average person misuses the energies of the lower centers and these must be set on the right course through higher mind and will.

We agree with you about the importance of mind as mind is the essential link between heaven and earth.

DK though Alice A. Bailey said that the plane of the mind is where the masters can be found – as well as the Higher Self up to the even the Solar Logos.

The New Age

Book Of Quotes

Inspirational, Spiritual & Metaphysical Quotes

From The Discourses Of JJ Dewey

1  We are moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius. We will be securely into this coming new age in about 150 years and most expect this to be an enlightened age of brotherhood and peace as well as human advancement. Right now we are in the transition phase and the division between the old age and new age thinking is coming into greater contrast.

2  We are in the twelfth hour of the labors in the vineyard and many new workers are being hired and coming forth to serve. In many ways their labors now, for this one hour, are considered as valuable as that of the older laborers over thousands of years. Why? Because many of the older laborers are expecting to be the new gurus who will be served and respected. Consequently, they are of little use in the present. The new workers will wind up performing a service of equal value to the combined value of the seasoned ones.

3  Those who are caught up in the glories of the past and sacrifice the possibilities of current joy to the authorities of the past will only enter the New Age kicking and screaming.

4  Those on the cutting edge of the age past are often left behind as the new age begins to dawn.

5  From this time to 2025-30 the seekers will embrace various stages of New Age thought and present it to their peers in an acceptable manner. Some time after 2025-30 will begin the seven years (or periods) of burning the weapons of Gog. During this time the old emotional fires which fight the new age will be consumed and Gog and his armies will find that they are void of instruments with which to fight the Christ consciousness. After the seven years burning, the fundamentalist clinging to a certain creed or dogma will be an oddity for the ignorance of old dogmas will be clearly manifest.

6  The Christ is the building stone of the New Age.

7  If the lights bringing the dawn of the Aquarian Age are to be successful, they must first and foremost survive and stand in their rightful places until the sun arises and shines forth in its strength.

8  Many call the coming age, the Age of Peace, and this will be true on the physical plane, but not on the emotional and mental planes.

9  The New Age will see conflict through debate and discussion as never before, but physical conflict will eventually be seen as primitive and beneath the dignity of the human race.

10  Think you that when Christ comes again He will be the lone teacher here on the earth? Far from it. To usher in the New Age we will need thousands of teachers and many of them need to be here before He manifests again.

11  The shift of attention by humanity from an emotional base for decision to the mind will insure the stability necessary for an age of peace to prevail.

12  Some of the philosophies that will be popular in the New Age are now permeating society to a greater extent than was even hoped for by the disciple of the mid twentieth century.

13  The Aquarian Age switches from water to air. Air is the symbol of mind. The beginnings of this age were manifest at the writing of the Constitution of the United States. We are now about half way into the full manifestation of the New Age.

14  The New Age will be ruled by mind.

15  To move to the Age of Aquarius we must free up the mind and the mind is freed up as freedom itself abounds. This is why basic democratic rights had to be established on the earth before the New Age could come in.

16  In the New Age brought by the Prince of Peace and His disciples the focus will be taken away from mean spirited competition and refocused on cooperation and the cities (polarized systems) will fall and be transformed.

17  We may be entering a new age, but let us not leave behind the basics that many souls have fought and died to preserve and demonstrate.

18  Because Pisces is such an emotional energy and Aquarius so mental the resistance to the New Age by the accepted teachers of the world will be very strong.

19  The natural resistance to the energies of the New Age must be dropped and a new understanding must come.

20  A critical mass composed of the brothers of light must be gathered together to produce the chain reaction to usher in the New Age. As with atoms, so with humans. Without the critical mass almost all the radiating energy is of minimal effect.

21  Without the law of mind, the laws of order, we will have no new age, no order, but only confusion and disorder.

22  I do not know if one can increase public involvement through law, but this certainly needs to be taught and encouraged in the new age.

23  Laws producing an orderly society will not pass away in the new age, but will be refined until they work so efficiently that the whole world will become stable and live in peace.

24  From the New Jerusalem (teachers of light) will go forth with the revelations of the New Age which will be the foundation of the new order of the ages. These revelations will also include many new scientific inventions, healing techniques, mysteries explored and New Age teachings.

25  If mankind changes not and does not shift its thinking to the higher level of the New Age, then physical destruction must come.

26  Those who make right use of sacrifice will make an easy transition into the service of the New Age.

27  One of the important teachings of the New Age will be the restoration of knowledge of the power of female energy, for it is as mysterious as gravity; no form can be held together without it.

28  Pisces is also on the mutable cross which causes a “go with the flow” attitude as far as energy goes. The funny thing is that we often hear this phrase from new age people, not realizing that this is the mantra of the passing age and not the Aquarian Age. Thus the energy of the mutable cross caused the people of the last two thousand years to go with their feelings with very little thought involved.

29  Physical presence establishes a very necessary link for the new teachings and energy to be transmitted.

30  Service in the New Age will be seen in the light of the LAW of cause and effect and karma.

31  Many other sources of energy will be opened up for us in the New Age including the application of the theories of Nicola Tesla.

32  The basic seed of the New Age Plan was presented as far back as the days of Moses and the working principle behind that plan was the gathering principle, or the synthesis of Israel into a greater working whole.

33  Nothing can hold back the establishment of the coming age of peace save our own lethargy.

34  Just as freedom and democracy had to struggle for existence in the midst of totalitarian governments, so will the principles of the New Age have to struggle for a foothold in our present society.

35  Many of the gurus and new age people we see around sway people by their personalities. The New Age Disciple must get beyond the personality and what we need to look at is the pure words and how they affect your spirit.
