I find it hard to believe that the creator of the universe had absolutely no purpose for doing so. Being a student of light, you surely know that the "chosen few" as some call them, have an absolute need for freedom, because they are their own masters. They define what is true, what is moral, what is high, for themselves. They are not unconscious parts of the group, submitted to the fear of being put out of the group. If need be, they are perfectly able to be out of any group, and roam the wilderness, and still have guidance from above. Other people are dying of fear of being out of the group. So just let me tell you that I understand perfectly why your son resists your orders, because these are plain orders, issuated from your motives, not his. If he don't see no interest in doing it, why would he? He's no slave. Things ended bad with my mom, I built a wall between her and me, and since then she is running somewhere to try to recover her son that she lost. But I didn't do it out of meanness. I just had to close a personal relationship that was only used to hurt me. When I understood, that because I was still desiring her love, I was letting her hurt me (and with absolutely no respect whatsoever) since about ten years, I realized there was no point in waiting anymore, and just closed the bill. Rest assured, we now have a relationship, but nothing personal. I'm no fool. I wont have personal relationships with people that don't stand free expression of feelings and thoughts, and try to control you compulsively. Let us say that a person identifies strongly with the emotion of anger and develops the habit of blaming all problems on others and always gets angry at someone outside himself when things go wrong. He thus develops habits of thought. When things go wrong he thinks of the cause as being someone out there. He develops habits of feeling: When things go wrong he feels anger at someone out there. He develops habits of action: When someone offends him he may make an aggressive physical move. Now let us suppose the guy makes some progress and he has a spiritual experience and the energies of the soul pour into him and the concepts of inclusive love become available. Will his old habits immediately vanish? No. When things now go wrong he will still instinctively react as if there is some enemy out there he has to blame things on, but when he does it will not be so satisfying. Now he will slowly work at tuning into the higher energies of soul and find the solutions by changing himself within rather than others without. Even so when we change sex with a new incarnation we carry over habits associated with the old energy. The entity may insist for some period of time that these are his energies but sooner or later as the new energies increase in power the person will have to yield to them and develop new habits associated with the new sex. One of the soul lessons of this crossing over is the lesson of letting go of what we were and becoming something or someone new. This is always difficult and many handle the situation by being celibate in the life of transition. Rob: "I'm still having problems with the Law of Correspondences. The physical correspondence of the life energy is indeed the physical energy transmitted to us through the blood and the blood is a symbol of the soul. As a result of this need being fulfilled, the 'seeker out of need' quite often, due to the reflection from the partner,learns to find what he/she originally needed from other ... within him/herself. (or it is awakened). This need for 'fulfillment' often acts as a 'blindfold' to other traits of the personality. Once the need is fulfilled, the blindfold comes off and other traits are more visible. If people could realise this pattern, they would look at the things they like in other as those things seeking expression within themselves and those things that they do not like in other as a reflection of aspects of themselves they don't like .. or as re-minders of something that was learned from the past which has not been let go of. Love has many definitions to the individual, depending on experience. To the body, Love is like a keyword in a web page. or internet search .. type in Love .. and all sorts of things come up ... say 'Love' to a dozen different people, and each will have a colour or definition according firstly - to their ideal, myth or fairy tale and after that wears off secondly - to the experience their body remembers as the feeling or memories associated to the keyword... and this may be a totally different experience. This is, I have found the reason why many couples who do not have the awareness of their own body programming, start out with an ideal .. something that fits the 'myth' or altruistic definition .. and end up continually in a 'destructive relationship' .. perpetuating their (unconscious or denied) self perception of victim. If, in a relationship, the partners look on each other as mirrors of likes as dislikes of self .. and work firstly to resolving the issues within self, I have found with the experience of working with many couples in this manner .. that the "disliked" behaviour of the partner is no longer a problem .. and often goes away. Its the story of "you can't change another .. but you can change yourself .. and in that way you change your perception of the other" and in that way, the other person is allowed to be something other than what he/she has been expected to be. This comes down to daring to allow the other to be the true expression of who they truly are .. without needs, wants and expectations being placed on them. What I write here, I am saying from my own experience within relationships ..and from taking that experience into working with couples ... Lets face it, my partner Fiona and I came into our relationship with a lot of uncomfortable experiences behind us ..and both of us have applied this philosophy to our selves .. supporting each other with the understanding I have outlined here ..and both of us are very, very content. Hard work? no, not really .. there has been a joy in the discovery of what lies under the masks we wear to hide our hurts from others. It is my awareness and experience that if two people are committed firstly to themselves and their own personal growth ..and the stronger the commitment to this the better, and they are prepared to allow one another to change, grow and evolve without the projection of need, want and expectation then any two people can come together in a relationship and make it work. The object of their love then becomes the divine essence they conjointly share. I feel this is the idealogy behind 'arranged marriages' in some cultures. Is there a way for this meditation to be easier for those who have imagination but not visualization? I was raised believing yoga and meditation were tools of the devil and those are fears that can be released, but not easily. My breathing has improved. That's another dream I had in which a Hindu teacher appeared and said "learn how to breath" and pointed to his solar plexus. Not that long ago, I learned the correct way to breath from my massage/Reiki teacher and all that time I thought I was breathing correctly. Looks like little by little I get a guide to teach me what is needed for my awakening. I live in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. I came across JJ's book through the Net. The website says "if you enjoyed books like the Celestine Prophecy, Conversations with God ....and so on".... and that caught my eye because the Conversations with God series impacted my life. Specially when I couldn't believe the part where it speaks about the creation of the opposite of everything. So, I decided to challenge whether that was true or not. I can tell you that I got a response alright and never again have I doubted that He created the opposite of everything. I also include JJ's book as another one that I've learned a lot from, or else I wouldn't be on this list. The following experience is the most precious experience so far. I had not shared it until now with everyone, but since you're asking ... I was reading the book and I was like, wow. This books is something out of the ordinary. But, I began to have a series of less than nice dreams when I was almost finished with the book, which I found strange because I had a bad dream every now and then, but why so many in a row? Then one night I was dreaming that I had gotten up to go to the bathroom in my house and saw, in the bathtub, a whole bunch of rats and flying roaches and other rodents that I am frightened of and seeing them in so much quantity only made me more scared. I quickly ran outside and closed the door. Then, I remembered that the book says that if you need protection you should ask for it. So I said, in my dream, "Ancient of days, please send someone to get me out of these bad dreams because I know you cannot come yourself and I am unworthy of it also, but please do send someone". I don't recall the exact wording (I was too scared to remember) but the wording was in that line of thinking. Then all of a sudden, I was awake. In my room and sitting on my bed. Happy to be awake. Then I heard a sound like a choir of monks singing the Om sound. It was beautiful. Then my room was filled with more light than the night light I have provides (call me a chicken, but I dislike total darkness). I did not see any light being nor anything, yet, I knew there was some presence there because I do not hear that sound everyday in my room. Then I asked, is that you? No response, but the pretty Om sound continued. Then I said in my mind "thanks for sending someone" (I was not really sure what Presence it was). Then I asked in my mind, "Why can't I see you?" No response, but then, I felt someone or something touch the tip of my left big toe and I felt a nice charge of electricity. I understood that it could have been Himself that arrived. Then yours truly, feeling very happy and joyful, went to sleep soundly, with the Om sound still in my room and did not have any more consecutive days of bad dreams. It is hard to describe with words the exchange of emotions and sense of joy I felt at that moment, but it sure felt great! Was it the Ancient of Days? I just could say this: Thank Goodness He touched ONLY the tip of my big toe because if it got to touch my entire foot, he would have fried me! The bottom line is: I just know I got help when I asked for it. Perhaps in the future I might not feel fear, but in that moment, I did and whenever I do I'll know I'll ask for Heeeeeellllllllppppp... About the keysters; there is a time and a place for everything, I believe. There is love for us all and we are worthy. Most definitely. This is a list of people interested in JJ's teachings. They also want a group of people to form a molecule. I would like to form part of anything that shares the goals of the light. However, I must confess I learn at the pace of a snail, but once I do learn I have the patience to teach others so I don't know how much of a good part of a molecule I would be. Honestly, I see a lot of wording that I sometimes do not understand in the posts. I come from fear based theologies background which makes it even harder. Perhaps the keysters would be more effective if we focus on the teachings rather than focusing on defending their point of views. For a living, I work performing clerical functions for one of the Johnson & Johnson facilities here at Puerto Rico. I forgot to mention, that I have a "big baby" (80 years old) to take care of. I cannot fly anywhere because she gets depressed if too many days go by and doesn't see me. She is very attached to me. She is my foster mother. She raised me since I was three months old. She still has lucid days and as long as she is lucid she will miss me. So, I am unable to go anywhere (to Idaho nor anywhere) until God has called her to his side. She needs me now. Perhaps, at this moment in time, I was not meant to be a part of the molecule, but that doesn't mean that I cannot help somehow. Like, for example, I helped translate the 144,000 song into Spanish and did not have to leave my house to do that. Each person in the mailing list, could contribute with something, even if it's something small to help the Light brothers in some way. Looks like I have many circumstances to neutralize me from following the path of light. First with the series of bad dreams to make me afraid of finishing the book, then this 99 year old lady (my foster dad's sister) was brought to my house and she fell and now I have two grown babies to take care of. But first let me say a couple words about myself to put this into perspective. I am organist and bell choir director with a small (Methodist) congregation and also lead singing with the jr. & sr.hi. youth groups. As the youth song leader I attend most of their meetings so I can wiggle in some good music, to which they are very receptive. 4 or 5 days ago I finished reading the archives of JJ's study of Revelations 13 -- the Beast, etc. After finishing that study I had thought to myself, several times, gee, wouldn't it be great to share this with the kids? (Does anyone see where this is going????) Now on to the good story . . . About 1:30pm Sunday the youth group leader called me and asked me, very apologetically, if I would mind leading the group at 6:30p that evening. I said I'd love to and she nearly dropped her phone. She started to share some ideas of what I could do with the kids but I told her I'd like to do a study of Rev. 13 and she said that would be great. (It turns out some of the kids had even mentioned their interest in studying Revelations.) So at 6:30p the kids arrive, 9th thru 12th graders, and it so happens one of them was joking about Revelations as he walked in. I said that it so happens that we'll be studying Rev. 13 tonite and, shock upon shock, they all sat down, immediately flipped to Rev. and started reading! Now I've worked with this age group off and on for 30 yrs., in school and out, and I am not used to such focus without urging!!! I was going to start with singing to get them quiet and centered but decided that would be too much of a distraction so quietly put my guitar away! Well, this could turn into a long story so I should probably shorten it for your sake. Let me say that the next 1 1/2 hrs. were jam packed with their earnest thought and attention. I used the same format JJ used, of asking questions and giving hints. And they identified all the major stuff: dragon, water, beast, 7 heads (they even named the 6 1st kingdoms w/o prompts from me except to say they had all happened at the time of the Revelation), 10 kingdoms (in duality -- they got that part really fast), etc. I kept bringing them back to 'what is the beast, again?' to be sure to emphasize the part about blind authority and giving away your power. We even examined school and how the beast is manifest there. They liked that part! As well as examineing the mortal wound and its healing and our current political system. We ended with identifying how one gets the mark of the beast and how one gets the name of God (from the 1st of Ch. 14). All of this thru my just asking open ended questions and them giving it some really serious thought. (Of course they're teen-agers, so when we were discussing duality and then giving examples and someone said male-female, we had to pause until the giggles died down. :) I found it fascinating that they quickly understood how one gets the mark of the beast, the number of man, but it was much harder for them to come up with how one gets the name of God. They would say things like, 'well, you have to find what is real...,' and I would challenge them with 'how do you know it's real...' Finally a young lady stumbled onto, 'you have to look inside, in your heart...' and I nearly whooped. So we wrapped that one up with confirmation with your own soul, living from your own truth, etc. The whole process was for me a clear demonstration of how much we DON'T teach our youngsters to live from their within -- just follow what you're told--follow the Beast. However they are aware they're doing that and don't like it. They just weren't as aware of their alternatives. Now they are! By this time we had run over by about 10 min. and parents had drifted in looking for their kids. But instead of grabbing their kid and heading home, they quietly stood and listened, probably mesmerized and impressed with the kind of depth of thinking their kids were showing. Then we ended the meeting by repeating the Song of 144,000 together as our closing prayer, including, at the kids' request, sending love and light to a neighbor who is dying of cancer. I share all this to point out how ready our youth are to hear this kind of thinking. It may seem like a stretch to some of us oldsters but these kids are already there. They just needed help putting the pieces together. It was just so natural for them. And I'm going to guess it generates a bit of discussion in their homes as well. If nothing else, I know we planted some good seed. I have a feeling that most of the young people incarnating today will be open to this kind of thinking and teaching. They're coming into physical form to help bring in the coming age -- they already intuitively know this stuff -- it just needs awakening within them and they'll be off and running. Which brings me to my 2nd topic -- Indigo Children. A great book for those of you dealing with kids or grandkids who seem a little too regal for their own good. The book discusses this new wave of children incarnating who have such a strong sense of themselves and who they are, and who often find it difficult living and conforming in our constrictive educational systems, etc. The book describes how we need to relate to them differently than we did to children and youth in the past. They must be afforded full respect because they already see themselves that way and won't respect you if you can't see it too. More detail in the book. I highly recommend you take a look at it..."Indigo Children, The New Kids Have Arrived" by Lee Carroll & Jan Tober. Which brings me to my 3rd topic -- Peace in the coming age. Will there be divine intervention? YES, through us, as we each live from the highest that we know. And that "us" is the multitude of "us" throughout the planet, young and old, some of whom are just now incarnating and are coming in well equipped, with memories much more intact than their elders, and are ready to move forward. Intervention in the sense of Christ or a great Avatar incarnating and leading us, yes, but probably not in our lifetimes. Later, after we have paved the way and made ready so they would be recognized, heard and appreciated. We need to finish working out the lessons Christ brought before we're ready for the next set of instructions! Could the age of peace pass us by? It could, but I don't think it will because I believe we are getting very close to the 100th monkey effect when the energy tide will be definitely turning in our favor. More and more people are becoming aware of pieces of the puzzle on different levels and there is greater and greater openness to considering truth, such as presented in the Immortal. I also agree with other keysters who have said that, should we miss on this pass, it will cycle around and we'll have another shot at it. We will eventually all make it. But I do truly believe we'll make it this time around. At least, that's what I've dedicated myself to. Well, I've probably rambled on long enough now. It is one thing to recognize that we are all equals before God. If I teach, I'll still leave them free will to try things their own way, yet if I see them going in a very inefficient direction, I will step in again to save one or both of us the added expense. That's a virtue. In my own case, clearly I am of a certain philosophical bent and introduce such thinking in countless ways to my daughter. She is very well informed of the sort of things talked of here and yet, owing to her own growing spirituality and the fact that her best friend at school goes there, she has been attending church and Bible study with a group that is about as far from my choosing as you could get. I do make it a point, just as Christ did with the Pharisees, to point out the errors I see in their teachings, however I don't stop her from going and even drive her to and from and provide money to throw in the basket. I feel I have a stake and responsibility in the outcome, but I'm looking at a much bigger picture, so it really doesn't matter what church she chooses, for now, because one day we will all be in the same church. I am working on building the foundation of that church which all of us will one day belong to. She and others may not always be able to see that, because she cannot possibly share all with me nor I with her. It is not possible to share without limits. Unfortunately, I do not have time to do them justice with my comments, but even so I'm sure each of your postings had meaning and aid to someone else on the list. Travis gave a good practical answer, Laura's five rings were interesting, Chris gave some fine poetry and there are other fine comments I know I will leave out. I will give three quotes here from the many I liked: Judith: "The likelihood of the Age of Peace becoming a reality, is in direct correlation with the becoming high intent and integrity of each man and woman throughout the world." Good statement and fine post Judith Marylin writes: "I think we must all do as much as we are able to do. When we reach the max of what we are able to do, then we may ask (key word here, ASK) for help. If it is done with sincerity and faith, it will come about." If we put these two ideas together we arrive at a good plan. Live up to the highest we know and then do all within our power to change the world for good. Then when we have done all we can on our, own higher powers will step in and help. Here are the questions under consideration: Question 1: "Is it going to take some great divine intervention to create a new age of peace or are we expected to do it on our own (with guidance from above)?" Answer: We pretty much answered that with the last statement. It seems that most agree that there will be divine help, but it will likely materialize through us individuals taking responsibility. Someone accurately mentioned that God will not do something for our good that takes away the power of free will. I liked Adrian's comment here: "Maybe there will be a kind of divine intervention - of a kind that most people will not recognize as such." When everything is said and done there is a strong likelihood that this will be the prevailing hindsight. By the way, I'm sure many feel for you in having your laptop stolen. Question 2: Is the coming age of peace a sure thing or is it possible that it could pass us by if we do not do our part? Most seem to be of the opinion, as I am, that an age of peace (at least for all) is not a sure thing, but we all have to do our part. The only time a future event will be a sure thing is when a great life that has power to create the event has made a decision in that direction. There are also certain cycles that if known can predict a future event (like spring following winter), but these are effects of laws set in motion eons ago. The guiding lives of humanity desire an age of peace and prosperity for us, and are guiding us in that direction, but we have full power to decide to go in a direction that would prevent its materialization. That great entity which occupies planet earth, however, deserves a rest that peace will bring and this planet will have its rest whether or not mankind goes along with it. If we do not cooperate, great destruction will occur and God will "destroy them which destroy the earth," (Rev 11:18) as was written by John. If we do cooperate in the plan for peace and goodwill that will allow a rest for the planet then we can move into the predicted great age quite gently. It is up to us. Question 3: What are some steps individuals and groups can take to help bring peace and stability into reality? This is the only question that I feel was not covered on all the bases. The theme "let peace begin with me" seemed to be a common and correct thread with the group. If it were true that everyone on the earth was peaceful and refused to use aggression to promote his belief system then we would have an abiding peace on earth, but unfortunately such is not the case. There are also many peaceful people who are under the authority of the Beast and will blindly follow orders of some authority that takes them away from peace. Let us take the Iraqi people during the Gulf War. On an individual basis most of the soldiers were nice peaceable people, but they were under orders to invade Kuwait and if they did not cooperate they would be shot. This type of situation in greater and lesser degrees forces many peaceable people in aggressive directions. To bring out the best from the general goodness that permeates all the people of the various nations, the whole of individual nations and the planet must be influenced in the ways of peace. Another problem is that many peoples are conditioned by their national media, religion and traditions to hate certain people of other nations. This negative illusion of these otherwise peaceable people must be broken down as well as the changes needed in the governments themselves. Nevertheless, if the people themselves learn to love and accept people of neighboring nations it will only be a matter of time before the governments follow suite and war no longer becomes an option. The question to consider today is what can a nation and its people do to befriend the people of a potentially dangerous nation such as Russia or China? How can we make friends with the people themselves and eventually generate a feeling among the general populace that war with us should not happen because we are friends? I used this practice during the last 12 hours of Mum's life and continued it for the 7 weeks. My children do this practice with me whenever we are called upon and I know they loved doing it for their Gran. They have no fear of dying and are so open to the angels (as are all children), that they are very powerful in this practice. "One of the most moving experiences I had was doing this practice in the bathroom, minutes after I had miscarried my baby 15 weeks into my preg. If we can convince the vast majority that we are OK, and we think that they are OK, then it is done. The ball is rolling, people just need to give it a push now and again. Much of the anti-American sentiment around the world is caused by US Government interference. We need to get back to our roots, and be the America we used to be. We need to stay out of everyone else's business, and allow them to do as they please. It all depends on the target nation. In China the Internet is strictly regulated. Their government doesn't allow free access to information. This is to keep their power. It will help us create a truly universal community. As long as the transport remains low cost. The primary reason the phone system and air travel didn't do this was that the cost was so high to use it. The Internet is cheap compared to other things. As a result of the currents of changes peace on earth is as uncertain as variables on all sides. As planned however peace on earth is a certainty overriding all choices of human free will. Free will is to be upheld as sacred; it is however subjected to the free will of spirit or the spiritual will. As an emanation of the spiritual will human free will is being realized in accordance with the spiritual will. The predestination of the spiritual will is then being implemented in actual events by the free will and the free choices of humanity. Peace on earth therefore is in the most important sense a certainty. Only in a secondary sense is it considered an uncertain. From the viewpoint of the big picture of the plan the illusory perspective of uncertainty is not to be held as of importance as it is of necessity. Now that makes me a Taurus and I think a typical one if there is such a thing as a typical Taurus. BTW, in Chinese astrology I'm a monkey and a very energetic monkey at that. A bit conservative but at the same time bursting with new ideas and projects! Many years ago (about 20), before I came out of the closet as they say, I was married to a gal and we had a daughter, Karen (who is 19 now), which I always call my heaven-sent. Now I'm married to a guy, Marteinn; one has to try everything in this life! We have same sex marriage laws in Iceland like they do in the other Nordic countries. I have two cats. My partner is not as enthusiastic in spiritual matters as I am but listens to me talking on and on about spiritual subjects and then he just gives me a loving smile (I don't know how the cats feel about this). As for a working partner that's something I'm thinking of...one day he will turn up, of that I'm sure! Now I live in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland. I live in the city's center because I love the buzzing life around me. Many of my friends live there too. And what's it like to live here in Iceland. Well, let's just say we have lots of clean air and water, beautiful scenery, long dark nights in winter and long bright days in summer. For example, how will you cope if they go through the common stage of rejecting your values and beliefs in order to forge their own? (Or will you have ingrained in them since birth 'your way', just as the Catholic Church inculcates their way in their young.) Don't use your children as objects through which you prove the validity of your beliefs, because it will be awful for them if one day (and such a day is bound to come if they have minds of their own) they let you down or they feel your beliefs are more important than them. It will be also be awful for you if you find your approach might have had a few flaws. Why should we expect to have perfect children, for that matter perfect relationships, when we are not perfect ourselves? Also how will they handle the isolation of being so different to their peers? I'm not arguing against the value of you encouraging their potential to a greater degree than is the norm, but I do think you are going to have to give thought to helping them integrate the way you are raising them with the world they find themselves in. (Disintegration is not good for mental health!) Also, just as it isn't wise to put negative labels on children it is not wise to put positive labels on them. I know - I had to come to terms with the fact that I was not 'special', any more than the next person is, after years of having been fed a diet of it. When (and if) one wakes up to the fact that one has held an unbalanced or extremist position, it can seriously shock the system. I know there is crossness in what I have written, but there is also a genuine concern for the well-being of your children. Especially if the insensitivity you have shown in the past towards what others have said to you on this list, is duplicated in the way you communicate with your kids. Being so enamoured by what you have to say, and defensive of it, makes you a little deaf to what others are saying. Sometimes you completely miss genuine, harmless humour. Kids need joy and silliness in their lives too. (Example. I used to be so serious about eating the right food, that it was downright unhealthy. Better to eat junk food with a balanced attitude than biodynamic vegetables with seriously intense righteousness which will give you spiritual indigestion)! On another tack, I can't speak for Alice Bailey but for me, to reduce the Soul to an aspect of the Mind is incorrect. The reverse is true in my book. You also seem to glorify the body as greater than either of these. Granted it is an amazing thing but it is after all just a physical vehicle that goes back to the earth and is not enduring. I find your emphasis on the carnal way out of proportion to tell the truth. Could you elevate your focus a little to spiritual matters now that we've got the message you repeatedly send? If you and I allow another person in an insane moment to blow us off the face of the Earth with nuclear or other weapons, similarly, he is not the one to be held responsible. Instead, it is those who know better: general humanity - you and 1. Many parents cry about the mistakes of their children and blame the little ones for their misfortunes, but it is no more ridiculous for humanity, the parents of government, to cry over the possibility of their leaders destroying them, than it is for parents to cry over their children because they have made mistakes through lack of discipline. You and I, common ordinary people, are the ones who have the supreme power and responsibility, and we must now awake to the fact that we can, will, and must subject the leaders of the nations to discipline so they will lay down their terrible toys, and cease their childish threatenings of desolation, and follow the peaceful way. From the heart of humanity comes the Plan for Peace - a physical peace that will also lead to an inner peace of mind. Imagine how much better the parents of the world will feel knowing that their children will surely grow to maturity and face a life full of opportunities, a life that will not be cut short by an insane atomic war! The Plan must not be identified with a political party, else the opposition, in their pride, will oppose it. Neither must it be identified with a religion, race, creed, or nation. Indeed, it must come from the midst of common people: neither the famous, nor wealthy, nor powerful, but a true representation of humanity itself. Only thus initiated can the Plan have the necessary power and momentum to synthesize the people and consummate the great words which are the hope of the world: PEACE ON EARTH; GOODWILL TO MEN. Project Peace and Goodwill is thus initiated to achieve this very end, which end must be reached by humanity itself through the use of its own freewill. We recognize that no outside power will force man to live in peace, but he must make that decision for himself. We believe that humanity has come of age and the majority of people want the nations of the world to lay down their desolating weapons and never take them up again. Many there are who deeply desire to trust their fellow men and live their lives without fear - for nations must learn to tolerate each other, make compromises, and spread goodwill, just as a men and women must deal peacefully with their neighbors. Most individual human beings have become mature enough so they have no desire to store explosives in their basements for possible use against their neighbors. It is time that the nations as a whole rise to the level of the common man and with one accord covenant to make harmless their weapons of desolation and never seek to again threaten the destruction of humanity. Project Peace and Goodwill is to be the most cosmopolitan group ever established for its goal reaches into the hearts of men in every nation: PEACE ON EARTH, GOODWILL TO MEN. Who would want to argue with it or fight against such a lofty ideal? The words sound good and strike a chord in even the basest of mankind. Indeed, it would be criminal for anyone to lift a finger to discourage such a project. Nevertheless, there will be many who will arise with objections. Some of the objections to be expected are: (1) Such a goal is impossible and can never be accomplished. The leaders of the nations are too corrupt. (2) Only God can bring peace on the Earth and cause men to lay down their arms. (3) The world is doomed to destruction by God and there is nothing anyone can do about it. We will briefly counter these three objections. Objection One: There are always those laggards who claim that progress is impossible. They heckled Columbus, the Wright Brothers, Edison, and every other visionary thinker who ever walked the globe. Their watchword has always been: "Impossible". It's as if their sole purpose is to try and discourage those few who would work to benefit humanity. "Impossible", said Napoleon, "That is not good French!" Another named Napoleon Hill said: "That which the mind of man can conceive and believe - it can achieve." Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men has been conceived, and it is believed by many, so there is no reason why it cannot be achieved. Disarmament and peace become possible when men believe they are possible, not before and not later. The truth is that mankind tries to limit itself to the eternal hostile atmosphere of the beast. Instead he should set his limitless vision on the peaceful horizons and proceed. Project Peace and Goodwill now sets that vision and men everywhere are called to set their sights on it and accept the possibility so the only barrier - man's limited thinking - can be removed. Project Peace and Goodwill is a ship with not one Columbus, but many. With such power none can stop it from sailing over that ocean called "Impossible". Objection Two: Many sincerely religious people adhere to objection number two: that only supernatural interference can bring peace on the Earth. Project Peace and Goodwill is not a religious organization and makes no pronouncements about God, for both believers and non believers must work together in the light of reason to accomplish its great goals. We will, however, point out that there are many who have an unrealistic dependency upon the supernatural that is not supported in any of the world scriptures. For instance there were many near the beginning of World War II who believed the Allies should not fight Hitler, that God would take care of him. It wasn't long before the pacifists in England woke up to the fact that they and their countrymen must immediately ACT or live under the power of the ruthless dictator, and that God was not going to do for them what they had to do for themselves It should be obvious to believers and non believers alike that the responsibility for peace rests upon man alone for the only way God or anyone else could cause mankind to live in peace when he is not ready is to play the role of a ruthless dictator, take man's freewill away, and force him to do right. History does not record any such event happening nor do we expect any Divine interference that destroys the freewill of man. The third common objection or problem is that there are many who believe unalterably in a doomsday. Many there are who believe the world will soon end and there is nothing anyone can do about it, but accept it. About once a year from time immemorial a significant new group has arisen preaching the end of the world and setting a date. Periodically the newspapers record how the groups sell all their belongings and retire to some designated place where they alone will be saved from the end of the world. Without exception each of these groups have been sadly disappointed. Nevertheless, a doomsday is possible now we are in the nuclear age, but it is only a possibility and it can be avoided by the thoughtful will of humanity. Indeed it is something that MUST be avoided at all costs. If an all out nuclear war were to occur about the best we could look forward to would be the preservation of some human life. If some were to survive these would undoubtedly revert to tribal living and civilization could be set back a thousand years or more. Doomsday does not have to happen. If humanity accepts the goals of Project Peace and Goodwill then the great holocaust will be proven to be a mere madman's dream and future generations will look upon this point in time as a great turning point for the human family. (btw .. they are not my biological children .. they were born to people in my group and in the group are three school teachers psychologist, child social worker .. a number of other mothers as well a people you would not be able to separate from a crowd if you saw them in the street) I do understand your interpretation of what I write, however, because there are no text books written which cover what the children are showing us. (Or will you have ingrained in them since birth 'your way', just as the CatholicChurch inculcates their way in their young.) Funny ... My values and beliefs .. as you put it ... are the values and beliefs formulated from interacting with the children, allowing them to forge their own experiences in life ... and silently observing what they are able to achieve .. and tell all of us .. as they are brought up in the freedom of establishing their limitations by exploration. The professionals and the other mothers are also observing what these children are showing us .. and applying similar principles in their own private and professional circumstances .. with exactly the same results being shown ... This has gone as far as school teachers trying these methods in the class room with statistically verifiable improvement in scholastic achievements and behavioral norms. For several classes, there have been no further reportable severe disruptive incidents from children who had been previously classified ADD(h) "Don't use your children as objects through which you prove the validity of your beliefs, because it will be awful for them if one day (and such a day is bound to come if they have minds of their own) they let you down or they feel your beliefs are more important than them. It will be also be awful for you if you find your approach might have had a few flaws. Why should we expect to have perfect children, for that matter perfect relationships, when we are not perfect ourselves?" BTW.. for your information, I do have professional qualifications in the work I am doing (Transpersonal Psychology is one of them) "Also how will they handle the isolation of being so different to their peers? I'm not arguing against the value of you encouraging their potential to a greater degree than is the norm, but I do think you are going to have to give thought to helping them integrate the way you are raising them with the world they find themselves in. (Disintegration is not good for mental health!)" Interestingly enough, I have found the opposite is true .. that they are seen as an object of adoration by other children with who they meet and interact .. and have demonstrated the ability to communicate with all ages .. male and female. There have been a number of reactions from other mothers to them .. but the children are ignoring these. "Also, just as it isn't wise to put negative labels on children it is not wise to put positive labels on them. I know - I had to come to terms with the fact that I was not 'special', any more than the next person is, after years of having been fed a diet of it. When (and if) one wakes up to the fact that one has held an unbalanced or extremist position, it can seriously shock the system." The one thing, from birth, that I have held out to the parents, and the group was that these children were ordinary children ... In not putting labels on them, in not labeling them as special, in not putting expectations that they will behave in any way, in not projecting our own childhood traumas and experiences on them as a basis as to how they will behave or perform, I feel they probable have a greater chance of showing us what is possible from an "ordinary child" because the projection of preconceptions onto a child makes that child extra-ordinary .. my parents did that to me .. "I know there is crossness in what I have written, but there is also a genuine concern for the well-being of your children. Especially if the insensitivity you have shown in the past towards what others have said to you on this list, is duplicated in the way you communicate with your kids. Being so enamoured by what you have to say, and defensive of it, makes you a little deaf to what others are saying. Sometimes you completely miss genuine, harmless humour. This reminded me that a group of psychologists are investigating statistics of behavioral problems in children and child suicides. They have discovered a disproportionately high figure for children of returned servicemen. The term they are using .. "Inherited Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome" The Government is trying to change the terms of reference for this work, and many details have been repressed. The question I would ask here .. in relation to what JJ is putting forward ... If ... Psychology and research is able to substantiate that behavioural problems in children .. especially aggression and violence can be statistically linked to children of veterans ... and if the algorithm that it is genetically inherited can be substantiated ... How do we handle the children ...? working with the children in the way I am, we, our small group are achieving results .. but there hasn't been sufficient time to measure the long term results of what we are doing .... But how do we - general public - overcome the inertia of a system that represses this sort of information. There has been a lot of press from the US about Gulf War Syndrome ... if what is being put forward in Australia is valid ... what about the children from the Gulf War Veterans ..? Maybe Project Peace and Goodwill should think about what war does to the children not yet born and how we can best overcome the inherited post traumatic stress of the generation that is being born from servicemen. It takes a generation to make a change so I will target the children. I write children's stories in book form, I'm writing my first screenplay, hopefully a Disney cartoon, and I tell stories in person. They call me the story lady. If my life is an example of peace and goodwill toward all men (including my ex's :)) then I will be in a position to teach others and make peace desirable. I recently had a dream where I was in a room with about 20 other people. Every move I made was mimicked by the others in the room. I found it very annoying. If I raised my hand everyone else did too. If I took a step everyone else did too. It was like copycat hell. I finally got the message that I was the leader and everything I did was being followed by others. I had to be very careful to do only those things that would benefit myself and others. It became clear to me that not everyone was walking in the same direction I was but if I took a step forward on my path then everyone else took a step forward on their path. If I was willing to risk a jump then everyone else would risk one too. If I sat on my butt and did nothing, nobody else moved either. So, translate that into today's lesson, if I don't harbor hurt or ill feelings toward any of my fellow human beings or doings, and I live my life, I am an example, then I have the authority to teach what I know. I tell stories to children. They understand. Then from where ever they are, they can take their next step into peace and goodwill. This is my part. Despite the obvious enthusiasm shown by many of the keysters i cannot help thinking of late that this is an experiment that JJ is engaging in -- an experiment that 'if' a minimum amount of success is not achieved then the experiment will come to an end and JJ will be 'required' to move on to a new project -- many of us would loose the close relationship that is currently 'enjoyed' - and this particular experiment will be confined to history. I cannot help feeling that it is a bit like having a brilliant teacher -- and we the pupils are currently half way through the academic year with this years exam is fast approaching -- if we do well in that exam we will be allowed to continue into the next year keeping the same teacher -- if we don't do so well in the exam then the teacher will move on gathering new pupils to him, the goal he has 'agreed' to work towards will not allow him stay with those who do not make the grade this time round --no matter how much - on a 'personal' level he would like to do so. I apologise JJ if i appear to be putting words in your mouth and i will humbly accept your rebuke if you see fit, but this is something that as been coming and going in my mind now for a month or two -- sometimes it is quite intense and then it recedes to a 'small' room in the back of my mind. I would just like to relate a 'general feeling that i have often heard Jack relate when he has talked about his war time experiences --- for example when he came across the so called 'enemy' on a personal level they were on the whole Jacks quote ) '' Great People ''. We often hear that the victors in war write the history -- but i would just again like to quote from my friend's experiences in the second World War that he often observed 'our' troops acting in a totally inhumane manor -- in that groups would often refuse to take prisoner, enemy soldiers who had clearly surrendered -- rather they would shoot them --- perhaps it would be better to say 'kill' them rather than take them prisoner --- The point i am trying to make is that the so called 'victors' in such conflicts are by no means lily white ( as i am sure many of you will already agree ) --- but do we 'REALLY' understand -- on a personal level just what impact 'we' could have --- Just imagine back to Jacks youth --- in the mid to late 1930's -- communication was a marvel --- but by toady's standards it was so limited --- we are today able to communicate 'almost' world wide --- if we have the 'real' desire to do so --- but isn't our inclination still to leave such things to our governments --- just as in Jacks day..... Or do we truly realise that our governments are 'our' representatives --- and should be made to act as such. in fact surely governments can now be by passed to such an extent that they 'have' to follow the lead of the people -- 'us' -- if we have the motivation to take up the reigns.... so i am sure to answer JJ's point re the internet that this will in fact play a prominent part in the future. Regardless of whether or not we can make direct contact with individuals in other countries, via the internet, we can still meet people that are from those places and still have family and friends back home. We can get to know them and ask them how certain ideas are accepted, where they come from and have discussions about the things we talk about, on list. Show them you are interested in them by learning words from their native tongue and learning a little about the geography and politics of their home. Where I live, we are considered an international city. I have met and worked with people from all over the world. Since we are already in the position of working together, it is fairly easy to ignore the national differences. Other locations may not have this advantage, but the same dynamic takes place on the internet. Through mail lists, ICQ, IRC, etc. we can all find ourselves among people of different nationalities but similar interests. It always amazes me, just how much we all do have in common. Everybody really does want peace and inroads are slowly but surely being made in various governments. Witness the collapse of communism in Russia and just recently I read that the President of China, while on tour in France, stated that their government is working on becoming more democratic. Something each and every one of us could do, to spread world peace, is to contact our local newspapers and see if there is anyway to get them to print JJ's "Project Peace and Goodwill". I notice too that when you go to Spiritweb's home page, they have a sort of newsletter going, with letters from various authors. I think if JJ submitted his essay to them, they would post it there for all to read. That one page is seen by thousand of people, all over the world, all of whom promote world peace. I think if we take the first step toward the understanding of the cultures of other nations, it would make the creation of friendship much easier. Back in the middle 80's when I was working at a library, CETA folks were brought in to help with the work. In the technical department where I worked, we had a very nice American girl with two disabilities, loss of hearing and very close to the loss of her eyesight. We also had a young man from Laos, a very pretty little gal from Thialand, and an Asian/Black gal from Vietnam. All of them really great young people. The little gal from Thialand had had a stroke in her right brain that occurred during the war and her left arm was useless but we gave her tasks that she was able to accomplish with one hand. The young man from Laos, Pan was his name, I had a lot of lunch hours to talk with. He told me about their life in Laos, how kids were raised, how, when a couple got married, they moved in with the wife's parents and took over all of the chores of the parents. (Boy, what a life that would be.) I asked him about the kind of food they ate and he said they grew all of their vegetables and raised their own sheep (or was it goats) and they also have a kind of "thanksgiving" at the end of the growing season. He hated one think about that thanksgiving, though. They had pumpkin for seven days.....pie, mashed, baked, boiled, as soup.....He said he was sick of pumpkin. Can't blame him. Hey, they are regular people just like us. "Is the Internet likely to play an important role? How?" I believe the Internet is already playing an important role in connecting people. I would give you credit, of course, as the author, but I would also add my 2 cents about how I, as one of their constituents, would like to see them work toward this goal. I wonder what would happen if all our states' senators and congress-people received e-mails of this sort? It would need to come from one of their own constituents (be sure to identify yourself, complete with domicile address in your e-mail), but I'm sure it would cause a ripple in Congress. They do indeed notice their constituents opinions and the squeekiest wheel certainly gets the most attention. What if a grassroots campaign were started in each of the countries represented on this list, to influence their respective governments toward a more peaceful agenda??? But this is not my complete answer to what we can be doing. I think even more important is the totality to which we each one commit ourselves to living, in the world, from the highest that we know. By constantly living from our own highest truth, we become beacons set on a hill and the appropriate opportunities of what to do unfold before us. Living from our highest truth also means we have the courage to follow those opportunities when they emerge, which might entail some scary soul-searching, change of directions, risk-taking, etc. We each have a special part to play and will only know what that is when we a
