This was confirmed when I read book 2 as well. I suppose you can say it's going inside ones' self and asking for verification. The only times I go wrong with this is if I go against my initial feelings on a subject. So now when I have a doubt about something I know to reject the idea or decision and that way I can avoid making a big mistake. Boy, did I ever learn that lesson the hard way. Another thing that I've learned is that if the same things keep occurring in my life, that I haven't learned the lesson that is presented. When I am able to learn that particular lesson, I am able to continue on until the next lesson is presented to me. Over 30 years ago I vowed to dedicate myself to learning and following the TRUTH. During much of that time, I was a one-man-band. The cosmology that I was uncovering was at odds with the religion of my fathers and most of the contemporary "new age" philosophies. During the last year, I have been a member of a number of mailing lists. This was very helpful, for me, because there are so many way out philosophies out there that I was forced to master a certain level of tolerance and patience, to keep the natives friendly enough to listen to what I felt I had to share. And every time I thought that nobody was listening and I should move on, a bunch of people would write to me, in private and say things like, "your stuff rings true and we love your stories. If you leave, tell us where you go so we can join that list too." So, then John Winston (bless his busy heart) starts posting chapters of "The Immortal". I had long heard the stories about the Disciple John and for some reason have always hoped they were true. So, this boy back tracked through his in-box to find the post that gave the www for the whole free book. I downloaded it and then sat in front of the screen 'till 4a.m. and finished it. At the end, I was laughing and crying tears of joy. I knew I had to read the next book. The description of book 2 contained a word that made me stumble. A teacher, in my past, had said that this word could imply Dark associations. I should have gone to bed, but stayed up later still to write a letter to JJ. I told him what a beautiful story it was, then how I found the end to be disturbing. I figured that if this guy was just the newest new age huckster, he would just ignore me as the sucker that got away. The next day, after work, instead of taking my usual nap before getting on the computer, I felt compelled to check my e-mail. Sure enough, there was a letter from JJ, at the top of the stack. Thousands have read the book already. Surely he is a busy man, and yet he has the time to write me personally. His letter was very friendly, but shot strait for the heart. He said that when we rely on the authority of others, instead of listening to the God within, we give power to the Beast. I wrote back immediately that he was right and that even if the book wasn't true, it was still the most moving story I had ever read and I'd go right out and get a money order, so I could order book 2. As soon as the order form and check were sealed in the stamped envelope, I got back on line and told him the checks going in the morning mail. I said I'd understand, if not, but if he wanted to trust me, he could go ahead and send the book now. Next day he wrote that the book was in the mail. We have written back and forth, often, since. Some of you have seen pictures of a 3D model that I created for the Lemuria List. They are on Samu's web pages, in Finland. When I finished that project, my first ever with that software, I was so encouraged by all the fan mail that I just had to come up with something great for a second project. When I read JJ's description of the City of New Jerusalem, I knew what I must do. The book of Revelations has always been my favorite, but the description of New Jerusalem was hard to visualize. If a guy like me, with a highly rated aptitude for mechanical and spacial relationships, can't see it, then what hope is there for the other 99%. So I start building this model and every so often send a picture of it to JJ (and one for Samu) and I get a few more hints, each time, to help it along. I should be done, with the basics, early next week. When it's done, I'll find a way to let everybody see it. JJ said that book 3 will talk more about the City and we've talked about a cover illustration. I'll tell you more about that next time. Last time I looked there were 12 of us on the list. Hi Rick I think you are right. It must have been temporary. I went out for a little while and just now saw that it's working just fine. I kept getting an error when I input the password, immortal, earlier. I had a question that perhaps someone has an answer for. In book 1, JJ hears bells and discovers that the bells match the ones by a bell ringer at a store. I have heard on several occasions a voice saying my name while I was asleep or not quite awake. It would sound quite loud and I would immediately wake up after hearing my name called. Does anyone know who could have called my name? It seems like a male voice as I recall. I have not heard this in several years now. Could it have been my higher self trying to get my attention? I know it was from the dream state rather than from anyone in the physical world. Both you and JJ describe sounds heard when you were between being awake and asleep. I heard this called twilight sleep. Our consciousness is between two realms, so we think we are hearing something with our ears when the real sound is an astral frequency which you hear with your throat. From another perspective, research indicates that your last dream is the one most easily remembered when awakened. The only dreams I can ever recall are the ones that are going on while I'm waking up. I'm disoriented when I wake up till I straighten out what's "real" and what was a dream. Certain diets and lifestyles can keep ones brain in this kind of fog. This seems like a lazy mans means of keeping an eye in the higher realms. Having spiritual sight doesn't necessarily help one grow spiritually, but putting ones focus on Perfection and being one with that Perfection will increase your vibes and attunement with higher frequencies. All this is, of course, just my best guesses. I'm no expert on consciousness, but I love to tinker. Hi All, Not ready to get into a philosophical discussion just yet, but Rick's post brought to mind feelings I have about book covers.. Not that anyone asked, but I seem to always be ready to jump in anyway.. As I have gotten older and my eyesight has deteriorated some I am more and more aware of how people should and should not design a book cover. Sometimes I can go into a bookstore and be looking for a book with which I am already familiar and still not see it on a shelf with many other books.. To me the clever people pay just as much attention to the part of the cover which shows when it is standing with others and you cannot see the front cover. I like ones which jump out at you .. I am always ready to have a look at such a book..particularly if it has an interesting title too. As to the front cover... A friend of mine has just opened a store and I notice that she displays books by their front cover when they are extra visually appealing.. Makes her book display look better and of course you see those first. Like little mini-art works of art.. I was surprised at the cover of Book Two when I opened my package.. No way that color will ever fade into the background and the print was large enough to be read without my glasses.. Yippee, hooray and all that stuff. (Although the metallic gold can be difficult to see when the light is not just right.) Perhaps a black border or something around the gold?? I love the idea of having the visuals of The New Jerusalem which Rick, JJ and Samu have been working on for the front cover of the next book.. The preliminary work is stunning.. An image which dug deep into my subconscious mind and pulled up something I had been wondering about for twenty or so years... More about that later. Now..not that anyone asked me again.. But my third thought is that the next book should look nice sitting next to the first one on a shelf.. So of course the colors, typeface, etc. have to "go" together...(You guys knew that) Why I felt compelled to write any of this is beyond me... no one asked and the work to date is just spectacular... It just crossed my mind so I did.. And of course I want as many people as possible to be attracted to having a look at the book even if they have not heard of it before. I read through the first couple of chapters, and it makes me feel the same way Book I did. I'm excited to read the rest of it. I'm still tinkering with the Apple/Pear thing, however. =) I wanted to get as much understanding of it as I could before continuing on. The reason (I believe) that many people in our lives, adult as they may be, still act like children, is because they haven't learned some of the lessons they should have when they were children. On the other hand, there are those that are far more mature than usual. I believe those people are learning their lessons at an accelerated rate. Basically, I agree with your views on the lessons in life. Bad things happen to good people, sometimes. Those good people have a choice. They can either wonder 'why me?' and get no where, or.. I just learned, last night, that Samu's mother has cancer. I've come to believe that everything that happens to us can be traced to the decisions we make. I do not know why Samu's mom has chosen cancer, so it would be an interference to send healing energy where it may not be wanted. But, even if she has a darn good reason, the experience will be trying to the whole family. So, for my part, I will it that the strongest beam of Light and Love possible, descend upon Samu's Family, to fortify them in their time of need. I know this beam will shine, because I ask it of our Father, and He always delivers. Now All, I was going to tell you about this co-operative art project thing. As I mentioned before, I was compelled to try and build a 3D model, on the computer, of the City of New Jerusalem, after reading JJ's description of it. I am teaching myself to use Studio Max software. My first project was a 3D map of the continent of Mu. To share these pictures with everyone that was interested would have taken much time away from the art itself. So I shared my pictures with someone with the enthusiasm and the web space to share them with the whole world, for free. Samu and I both got a great time out of our co-operative. Good fun and karma, wow! So, I'm building this model and getting more tips from JJ (wait till you read this!!) and he thinks it might fit in good with an idea he has for the cover of the next edition. He has this old comic book cover illustration that would make an excellent framework for JJ's story. It pictures a man and woman looking at a man who is walking away, in mid-air. For the cover illustration, we would see JJ and Elizabeth looking out at John, who is walking up to the city of New Jerusalem. Now, I can draw anything made of parts. I do that for a living. I don't draw people. I've got the City and can place it in any position, on any background. I can combine parts from different pictures, seamlessly. What we need is someone that can draw the people. We could also try using actual photos of models, posed and lit as needed. Several of us have the software to put the elements together, in any number of combinations, from which JJ could select his favorite for the publication. Here is an excellent chance for many to act as one (o.k., and maybe get mentioned in the credits). Write me, JJ, or the list if you have anything to offer. Like those of you who have emailed to the list already, I found the Immortal Beloved to be a highly readable but profound work. How can one not feel excitement and hope on reading the words of John. How can one not feel the love of our Creator as we approach a new beginning both in our own lives and in the life of this planet. But for me, it was more than a good read that warmed my heart. I think John is giving us the opportunity to use tools that will be introduced in upcoming books to make a powerful difference in our lives and the lives of those we touch. The first tool for me was the Song of 144,000. On first reading it seemed to me that it was just an ordinary sounding prayer. But I decided to give it a go because of the effects it had on Joe and Elizabeth. Right from the beginning, I was astounded at the results. The power and strength and general feeling of well being I experience when saying the Song are truly overwhelming. I've been saying it at least twice a day for about a fortnight now and that feeling has increased rather than diminished. And it isn't difficult for me to feel the presence of others joining me in the Song. In fact, I feel as if I am joined by all the Hosts of Heaven. I'm looking forward to reading Book 2 which JJ tells me is winging its way to NZ. I'm also looking forward to participating on this list. It would have probably been a good idea to have done this some time ago, but the present is always what we have to deal with in this reality so I am looking forward to making the best of this opportunity. I have been spending the small amount of spare time I have in promoting the book and have not yet had time to start Book Three. Many of the readers have expressed disappointment that there is not yet more for them to read so this forum may be a good medium for us to keep feeding the soul until another book comes out. I do plan on starting Book III very soon and hopefully it will be done in about six months. If I didn't have to work like crazy to make a living (the self-employed will understand) I could probably finish it in a month, but we must always plow with the horses we have. I've received comments from time to time from readers who wish they could learn from a teacher like John in the book. Many readers want to continue to go forward after reading the first two books so I am hoping this mailing list will fill the void. Instead of answering your questions about the student-teacher relationship individually, I've decided to write an article about it and post it here for everyone. THE TEACHER-STUDENT RELATIONSHIP This concept has two extremes associated with it, and to really understand it completely you will need the second lost key of the Buddha which will be revealed in Book III, but what I give here will be a big help to those who already register this key internally The one extreme is the idea that goes something like this: "Me teacher. You student. You do, think and act exactly as I command if you want to learn or be anything." The other extreme: "There are no teachers and no students for we are all teachers, and we are all students. One person is not above another and everyone's words have equal value." Even though people in these two camps see each other as an agent of evil and opposite to themselves, the concept espoused by each has the same effect. And what is that? That effect is to turn the student into a non-thinking animal, or "beast," as it is called in the Book of Revelations. THE ILLUSION OF EXTREME 1 There are many problems associated with Extreme One. (1) No earthly teacher is flawless. Therefore, if you are limited to learning exactly according to the mindset of the teacher you will also inherit his flaws. (2) This black and white method of teaching only allows for the dissemination of facts and not principles. It takes a thousand facts to create the understanding of one principle, but one principle can reveal an infinite number of facts. Therefore an enlightened teacher will stimulate understanding of principles. For instance, the Keys of Knowledge are centered around principles and cannot be revealed as mere facts, or they will not be comprehended. We will talk more about principles and facts in future books and posts. (3) This method takes away freedom of thought. Instead of stimulating the student's own intuition by directing him toward his own soul, the teacher steals his thought process from him by demanding that he accept everything without question. An example of an extreme failure of a student from this mindset is the religious fanatic who will kill himself and others with a bomb tied to his back so he can secure a place in heaven. Another example would be the Jim Jones group who committed mass suicide. Still another - the group that goes to the mountain top to be raptured (because their teacher set a certain date) only to discover that Jesus seemed to have changed his mind because they were just not good enough. These are extreme examples, but all who follow the black and white teacher of the first extreme have their progress tied up to some degree in actions of a similar degree of ridiculousness. THE ILLUSION OF EXTREME 2 This is the feel-good extreme, the seemingly safe extreme, the we-are-not-judging-each-other extreme. How could this extreme be bad if the intent is to establish equality? Remember another extreme that tried to establish equality? It was and is called Communism. The ideal of equality sought in Communism has nothing wrong with it, but because it diffused individual thought and soul contact it turned into a great evil. The great illusion of extreme 2 is that the basic ideal is good, but the ideal is attempted through illusion. True equality can only be achieved through truth, not illusion. The truth overlooked in extreme 2 is this: In the reality we are presently in, there are teachers and there are students. Even though there is an equality on the soul level we are very diverse on the physical, emotional and mental levels. To understand this we must first define what a student and teacher is. The student and teacher are a symbol of the two basic energies of the universe which are represented as positive- negative; yin-yang; male-female; light-dark; hot-cold, and finally giving-receiving. These two energies or items are called the dualities. Wherever there is form there exists positive-negative, giving and receiving. Thus, in any relationship of two people one will be polarized as the teacher (giver) and the other as the student (the receiver). Objection: In most relationships you are sometimes the teacher or giver, and other times the student and receiver. It seems egotistical to think of yourself as always the teacher. Answer: All of us have within us the giving and receiving (positive-negative) principles, but we are talking about polarization here. If you are polarized as a male, this means you have more male energies within you than female. It does not mean that you do not have female energies available. In a relationship, you both give and receive, but the giving and receiving is NEVER equal in this world. If you are giving more than receiving, then by default you become the teacher in the relationship. Because this statement is true and truth must be recognized to escape from this veil of illusion, then this student-teacher relationship must be recognized before true equality can even be dreamed of. Let us take the relationship I have with Rick. Overall I am polarized as his teacher, but the true teacher will always be open to receiving from the student when the opportunity permits. Rick gave me that opportunity by presenting the idea of a mailing list. Now if I saw that this was a bad idea I would have remained in the teaching position and taught him why it was a bad idea, but because I could find no reason to object I became obligated to become the student for a time and let him carry the ball and let him teach me. As long as the direction he was going registers well with my soul I am obligated as a disciple of truth to follow. The highest of the Masters who have overcome physical death would see themselves polarized as a teacher in a relationship with any of us, yet they still recognize that we can do certain things better than they can. For example, most of us in the human kingdom understand that we are of much higher intelligence overall than any animal. No animal, for instance, would have any concept about building an automobile or spacecraft as man has done. But on the other hand, a human can never build a beaver damn as well as a beaver. Beavers already have the knowledge to build them better and faster than we can. The relationship of the God Kingdom to man corresponds to the human kingdom and the animal. The attention of the Masters is set on many lofty ideas that man does not even comprehend, yet there are many things in the human world that man is more capable of performing well than is the Highest of Masters. This is the main reason we do not see more of them, as the more directly they become involved by doing for us what we can do for ourselves, the more things get screwed up. The powers that be learned this painful lesson during Atlantis. During part of this period the Masters associated much more freely with humans and gave them much knowledge that they were not yet ready to handle. The result was that the entire civilization was destroyed and we had to start again from scratch. The Masters learned their lesson and this time have committed themselves to only helping us when we cannot help ourselves. They do assist behind the scenes but only work through our personal desires and free will. The goal at present is to move certain groups in the human kingdom towards alignment with the kingdom of God so heaven and earth can be brought together. This will result in a truly beneficial interplay between the two kingdoms that will assist rather than destroy humanity. Now getting back to the Teacher-Student principle, I will say this. It is extremely important that this concept be recognized because without it we will be polarized on one of the above extremes; the only way we will advance toward the soul in that case is through tremendous pain. Discovering where your right place is in a relationship creates a detour around the pain and toward the greater light. In the true student-teacher relationship authority is only recognized because it is earned. Let's say you want to learn Spanish and two teachers surface who say they can teach you. They both seem equally convincing, but the truth is that one of them knows the language well and the other one does not. If you accept either as an authority just because he or someone else tells you to, then you have a 50-50 chance of getting a bad teacher. What do you do? You test the teacher. Have him actually speak some Spanish. Give him several paragraphs from English and see if he can translate and then check out the translation for correctness. Finally, you will establish in your mind that one of them can truly teach you. Once you have tested your teacher then you do not have to check up on him in every little detail; but when you have learned the basics and want to go to advanced Spanish, you do need to check again to see if he has anything more to teach you or if you need to move on to another teacher. This point is dangerous ground for the student, for sometimes his false ego will convince him that he knows Spanish as well or better than the teacher when in reality he may not. In this case the student often goes off to teach before he has learned all the lessons. To be a good student takes as much wisdom as it does to be a good teacher. In the case of spiritual teachings, the ultimate test of truth is from the inner self. This inner self, through the medium of the Soul, contacts and registers the Holy Spirit ,which is capable of verifying all true principles. In short, this process is called "soul contact." Soul contact has little to do with facts, except in important circumstances, but it has much to do with principles. For instance, your soul may not verify to you what an inhabitant of Sirius looks like or how many there are, but it will verify to you the principle of life and its existence elsewhere in the universe. If a man or woman comes forth and presents or is presented as a spiritual teacher, you must not accept him or her (we'll say "him" for simplicity) just because a claim is made. You must test him. How do you test him? Listen to his words and test them with your soul. If your soul says no then drop him immediately. If your soul says nothing then test some more until you receive an inner response. When you finally do receive an inner response does this mean you should now accept the teacher? Maybe yes, maybe no - because there is a true soul contact and a false one. There are many people who are sincere seekers who have never in their life received a true soul contact and therefore mistake a high emotional feeling for soul. This can be very deceptive and can produce the type of person who may have from a harmless delusion to one who will destroy others for his master. If you are not sure you have ever received soul contact it means you have not, because when you do, you recognize it and know what has happened. It is like coming home. On the other hand, not all who are sure they have received soul contact have received it. Some feel a high emotional energy and are sure they have touched the aura of God Himself, yet are completely deceived. Only those who have received true soul contact can know a thing for sure and can recognize a true teacher from a false one. The only way to know if another has achieved soul contact is to achieve it yourself. One person who has received this contact can recognize another who has received it. Question: If only a small number have soul contact and you're not positive if you have, are you doomed to be deceived? No you are not. Soul contact is available to all who with pure intent seek after it. You do not even have to be highly evolved to feel it. But if you are not sure if you have received it, yet then here are some guidelines to keep you on the right course. 1) Keep your intentions pure and seek the service of the whole above the service to the ego. (2) Seek with sincerity to know more and to go higher. (3) Let common sense rule above lower emotional feeling. If your teacher says that Aliens are coming to pick you up on a certain date and then they don't arrive, that ought to tell you something. No matter what excuses he makes he was wrong and now all his teachings should be suspect. Maybe you should be teaching him. (4) When any degree of soul contact is reached and you receive direction from the soul, keep following that instruction until more is given. If you do not, you may be cut off for a long period and wind up in an illusionary path. Always follow the highest you can perceive. (5) Remember the words of the Master: "Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life and few there be who enter, but wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to death and many there be who go therein." The teachers of the wide gate are legion and are easy to find. The teachers who lead to the life of the soul are few, but fortunately can be verified by the soul. As one who claims to present true spiritual principles, I invite you to check with your souls about me, for the only authority I will ever use will be the same authority that I am subject to. If the One Holy Spirit of Truth speaks through me and you together, we will be as one mind. It starts out with an exposition of my physical health, state of mind and personal suffering leading up to a "threshold" I went through in Bahrain, The Persian Gulf, in the summer of 1997. The initiator of this transformation was the Indian Actress; Pooja Bhatt. I saw her image on television once...and everything changed! Obsession is the only word I can honestly use to describe my thoughts towards Pooja Bhatt. I became obsessed with her facial image and persona. But it was never even remotely sexual. It was a "selfless kind of obsession", if you can imagine such a feeling existing! My depression turned into joy, confusion to clarity, and my doubt into faith. "Stalking" her in magazines and on the Internet, I was showered with a barrage of amazing Synchronicity. As her birthday approached, I struggled to capture my inexpressible feelings towards her by composing poetry, and I was never a poet! My experiment went out of control and I ended up writing "Book of Rhyme" and "Magic Boat". I believe that my thoughts were guided by whatever faculty that was causing the Synchronicity in the poems. The synchronicity is manifested in the rhyme, theme coherence, the connective framework, and the verse formats, The formats actually started drawing pictures!! Hello Di and All, I was going thru my pretty much cluttered mailbox and found this letter which I hadn't read yet, and feel like answering because I've experienced something very similar. A few years back as I was in bed going to sleep in that semi-conscious state (or should it be called double-aware state?:) I heard crystal clear in my head: You know who you are. You are not alone. We are here to help you. This was before I really started reading spiritual books and using English language daily as I do now. I heard later that there is something about the frequency range of English that makes it easier to 'come thru'. This happened during a phase in my life when I just didn't feel like I belonged on earth at all, I didn't understand most of the people I met and how they could have such unloving thoughts, and I felt my home was somewhere far, far away from here. I do feel it was a message from my guides and my family beyond stars. I also feel like it could have been my future Self talking and encouraging me. I've come a long way since, and were I now to tell something to the Samu that was a few years ago, those would very probably be the kind of words I would use :) Sometimes I also hear my own name being called, sometimes when half asleep, other times while I'm wide awake. What the meaning of this happening is, is something that only you can know for sure. It is possible that it was your higher Self calling you. Maybe you were contemplating something regarding yourself before going to sleep? Above you use the words 'as though someone was actually trying to wake me'. Symbolically this could mean you did in fact realize that you were being awakened to a wider awareness from your present everyday state, which unfortunately sometimes resembles a dream state. Of course I can't know for sure what you were going thru in your life as these things happened, so I do definitely not mean to say that you were somehow 'less aware', I mean no offense. I can only speak for myself, and I know I was less aware in many ways a few years ago, and something changed the course of my path, something that manifested as the voices heard as I was hitting a low point. I didn't really understand those words at the time; because of them I had a million more questions in mind. But I now see that this was the point, and it led me where I am today. So sometimes rationalizing and finding an actual answer to the first question that comes to mind isn't nearly as important as all the other questions, places, paths and challenges we're directed to later because of this one particular event that 'woke us up'. Boy I'm babbling, but I'm in the mood :) I also feel that how *you* feel about hearing the voice is key. Does it ignite a desire for learning more, attain deeper insight, gain more knowledge? Then this might very well be the reason for what happened to you, or at least one of the reasons :) I believe Rick was referring to clairaudience when he mentioned hearing astral frequencies in your throat, since the throat chakra is the energy vortex in our body that is used for 'hearing' energies. In my experience, it was as if I heard the voice inside my head, but everywhere at the same time. It was omnipresent. Rick also wrote: "Having spiritual sight doesn't necessarily help one grow spiritually, but putting ones focus on Perfection and being one with that Perfection will increase your vibes and attunement with higher frequencies." I so agree with this. There are individuals who'd want spiritual insight in the form of psychicness and alike just because 'it's like magic, only real'. Spiritual sight doesn't necessarily help one grow, unless you choose to use it as means for growth. Every time I realize I've progressed just the tiniest on my path, I acknowledge it with joy, and every time I have noticed that from my new point of view, which is on a slightly higher level than the one I was looking at the universe from before, I can see more and further, but at the same time I humbly realize from my present state of perfection how much more there is to attain and achieve. The more I am, the more there is to become. I believe this is one of the core thoughts of our existence, of our creation, of *us creating*. And the more I am, the clearer it is for me what I choose to become and be, because it already is a part of me as I focus on it. It's so beautiful. I know it will keep me spiritually hungry for many more eons to come! :) Man, I still can become so much more perfect than I already am! ;D I also have a question. I must confess that I had reached a point where I didn't think that voting was of any use anymore. It seems to me that there is so much vote fraud that it was futile to continue to vote. Not to mention, that it seems that my vote never counted for anything; when there doesn't seem to be much difference between the candidates. I had never put this on some kind of spiritual plane until I read JJ's book. John said to vote for the lesser of the two evils which is what I had been doing.
