Discovering the New Age, Part 4

Sorting out Mind from Emotion

The Law of Economy and Waste

Doris just received a very large credit card and decided to make the most of it. Unfortunately she was a captive of her own emotional desires and not only overspent, but spent wastefully. Instead of checking for sales and finding the best price she often spent more than double what she had to on various products. Then when a store brand would do the job she would buy the much more expensive name brand. In addition to this she would often buy overlapping products. For instance, she had many more shoes than she needed and three cell phones when all she needed was one.

Shirley also received the same card, but took a reasonable approach and just used it when it was logically necessary. She shopped around and made sure she got the best price on needed items and used store brand and generic items when there was negligible difference in the quality. She refused to buy overlapping products and just purchased what she could efficiently use.

By using her mind and common sense Shirley subjected herself to the Law of Economy.

And what is that? DK mentions it often in the Bailey writings. It is basically this.

The creative Intelligence of the Universe follows a path which produces the greatest efficiency while using the smallest possible expenditure of energy. Those who follow the Law of Economy produce very little if any waste.

The Law of Economy can be seen at play from the sub atomic level on up to atoms, molecules, cells and all living things. The efficiency of nature is spectacular indeed.

We human beings have made many advancements in technology by observing nature, but we seem to really lag behind in incorporating this law in our lives and politics. Too many of us are like Doris and not enough like Shirley.

Unfortunately, most governments throw efficiency and the Law of Economy out the window and spend like Doris, often with no means to pay the final bill.

Here is the really strange part. Many who are quite conscientious about their personal budget and see themselves as common sense Aquarians will support extremely wasteful government spending. If government borrows to spend on a product or service they approve of, they give it their support while not even making a smidgen of effort to calculate the waste involved or voice concern.

Supporting government programs involving extreme waste is like being married to Doris and just trusting that she is doing the best possible job in making effective use of her credit card.

Does such wrong-headed support belong to the emotional Piscean mind or the mental Aquarian?

The answer should be obvious.

There is tremendous waste and inefficiency in most levels of government “help” and spending. I’ll just pick one – healthcare.

Before government started allocating spending on its citizens in an attempt to lower healthcare costs health care was pretty reasonable. I know because I had an accident at the age of 13 in 1958 that caused me to undergo six operations and spend a total of three months in the hospital. Four of those operations were by a renown specialist, the equivalent of which would charge a huge amount today.

My first stay in the hospital lasted a month and my room cost was $8.00 a day. The most expensive room was $14.00, but being concerned about money and having no insurance we opted for the most economical available.

$8 in 1958 dollars equals just $66.50 in 2016 dollars. That was a bargain any way you look at it.

The accident happened at the worst possible time. My Mom just divorced my Dad and received no child support. Our only means of support was from both of us picking fruit in the summer and my mom worked for near minimum wage at a potato processing plant for the rest of the year.

Could a fruit picker with no insurance pay off major surgery and a month’s stay in the hospital today? Not hardly. Today’s bill could easily run a quarter of a million dollars.

Now here is the crazy part. We paid off all the medical bills using our own money with no help from the government or insurance companies. My mom did take out a loan, but paid it off.

For later corrective surgery we did receive some help from a private charity, but again government was not needed or involved.

Today a typical stay in the hospital is around $4,000 a day or more. That means if I had to stay in the hospital today, the cost would be about 500 times more than in 1958. Adjusting for inflation it would still be about sixty times as much.

The irony is that, today, gas prices are a primary sore point with the public, the media and politicians. Everyone wants to investigate “Big Oil” for gouging us. Many also want to penalize them by taxing more of their profits.

But, even though gas prices seem high we should be praising big oil for holding their prices as low as they are.

The price of gas in 1958 was 39 cents a gallon in the area where I lived, and no one was grumbling about Big Oil. If the price of gas had risen 500 times, it would now cost $199.50 a gallon!

Why is it that by 2016 the price of gas and many other items has risen less than ten times the 1958 price, whereas a hospital room has risen around 500 times? It is puzzling that no one is asking this question. Even more puzzling is why people are not grumbling more about big hospital than they are about big oil or other commodities.

This great inefficiency started to plague us about the time that government stepped in to help us with our medical bills in the form of Medicare and Medicaid.

When these programs started in 1965, they seemed like a good idea to many, especially in consideration of the cost projections at the time. The public was sold on the idea that Medicare’s $3 billion cost in 1966 would only reach an inflation-adjusted $12.0 billion by 1990. The actual cost in 1990 was a whopping $67 billion. The “experts” were off by 7.44 times. Total Medicare spending reached $440 billion for fiscal year 2007, or 16 percent of all federal spending. Since that time, spending has continued to rise.

The only larger categories of federal spending are Social Security and defense.

The question is whether the bill could have even passed if the public had been given an accurate representation of what the actual cost would be.

In addition to this, the annual cost to taxpayers of Medicare and Medicaid fraud (not counting waste) is estimated to be around $100 billion. One estimate of the fraud of the whole health care system is $272 billion a year.

The bottom line is that there is no way one can claim he is in harmony with the Aquarian energies of the mind when if he supports programs that create such extreme waste. Anyone not ruled by pure emotion would support the elimination of waste and applying the Law of Economy before spending money on new programs that will do more of the same.

When I tell someone today. who thinks the government is doing a great job with our medical dollars, about the time before such programs when even a fruit picker did not need insurance because he could pay his own way, his eyes just glaze over and mumbles something to the effect that, “things are different today.”

Yes, things are different today and not in a good way, Government is extremely inefficient with our money in most areas of endeavor and the common sense, mental, Aquarian, new age attitude should be to shout, “Stop! Let us fix this problem before we throw even more money at such a broken system.”

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

Discovering the New Age, Part 3

Sorting out Mind from Emotion

Freedom

Those who are stuck in the old age ruled by emotion will have a much different view of freedom than will the Aquarian thinker governed by mind and reason.

The astral approach to freedom is to take the black and white approach. This means the person will either discount rules and regulations so he can have his way or to support an excess of them to control the other guy. The Piscean character will assume that the other guy cannot be trusted with much freedom as he will abuse it whereas he sees himself as supporting freedom and he wants rules dropped that may control him.

An example would be the guy who wants drugs legalized because he wants the freedom to use them, but wants strict controls on guns as he does not own one.

The mentally polarized can see that the principle involved in both is the same. They both have a dangerous side and if we trust our fellow humanity with one then we should with the other.

The mentally polarized can see that much more can be accomplished with maximum freedom than with excessive rules, regulations and laws. The right amount of law insures freedom but excess destroys it.

There are around 40,000 new laws and regulations passed every year in this country and anyone but a madman should realize that is too many. How many can name even a dozen passed last year? Very few. There are so many that most of us broke several of them yesterday yet probably did not know what they were. The advantage for corrupt authorities having so many laws is that they can turn most anyone who offends them into a lawbreaker and go after them.

I have already written a lot about the Principle of freedom. Here is an excerpt from my forthcoming book on Principles.

The principle of freedom is a mystery just as most principles are. Why? Because it takes a certain degree of consciousness to apply the second key of judgment to understand and apply it.

When freedom is discussed among all people of divergent views it is interesting to note that all of them see themselves as struggling for freedom, even those who are enslaving others. Hitler often spoke of freedom. The Taliban speaks of their own freedoms. The Old South maintained they needed slaves to insure their own freedom. Abraham Lincoln noted this and observed that some people have a pretty strange idea of what freedom is.

Some think that freedom can only exist in a state of anarchy, but this is illusion for it takes a number of laws to insure the maximum freedom of the whole.

Others think we need laws to cover every detail of living to insure freedom, but too many laws and rules hinder freedom.

There are those who think life is not fair so they make restrictive laws to make everyone equal thinking greater freedom will result. This usually results in less fairness and diminished freedom for the whole.

The problem with freedom is that people view it from their own restricted vision. Instead of looking at it from its effect on the whole they look at it from the view of their own little isolated world. It may be true that a man could have had a slave and the slave helped him have a temporary increase in his own physical freedom, but the whole was less free.

The problem with freedom is we are looking for the manifestation of maximum freedom for the whole and to obtain this there has to be some restrictions on the individual. For instance, the individual burglar must not be given the freedom to break into homes. On the other hand, too many restrictions will suffocate freedom. Only those who see the fine point of balance in the middle and how the whole is affected will understand.

What is true freedom then? Again, it is the removal of restrictions either imaginary or real, so the power of decision has complete freedom within the sphere of its plan. Thus the true principle of freedom lies in the idea that the soul energy to accomplish is released so its life can flow through the ideas and thoughts of the pilgrim until all desires are fulfilled.

No matter what your belief system there will come trials in harmonizing the Principle of Freedom with personal feelings.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against abortion must allow the woman her freedom of choice whether that choice be right or wrong.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against gays living together must allow them that freedom of choice whether that choice be right or wrong.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against illegal drugs must allow the user his freedom of choice whether that choice be right or wrong.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against Neo-Nazis promoting their doctrines must allow them that freedom of choice whether that choice be right or wrong.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against cutting down trees must allow others the freedom of choice within their own sphere whether that choice be right or wrong — as long as no great harm is done to the earth.

He who believes in the Principle of Freedom yet is against rules being laid down in a school, group or business must allow others freedom of choice within their own sphere of activity whether that choice be right or wrong — for the seeker retains the choice to work for another company, join another group or take another class.

Each potential disciple will have some final temptation to support the unreasonable restriction of others in the name of promoting his personal desire to see that which is good triumph. The deception is that true good can only magnify in an atmosphere of maximum possible freedom.

So the principle that the gathered lights will always apply is maximum freedom for the whole. The only time any freedom is taken away from the individual is when it increases the freedom for the whole. Like I say, we take away the burglar’s freedom because the burglar takes away the freedom of the whole so by taking away the burglar’s freedom we increase the freedom for the whole. The principle involved with freedom is the wholeness aspect; maximum freedom for the whole. The seat belt law is a simple little thing but it’s totally unnecessary to have a $200 fine for a seat belt infraction. It may force us to buckle up but on the other hand it creates big brother telling us what to do with outward authority over our lives.

What we need to develop is power to have our own personal freedom and do what is right because we decide to do what is right. We do right because we see what is right; to help our fellow man because we want to help our fellow man. By doing these things we can enhance the flow of the energy of God because the energy of the Holy Spirit operates on total freedom.

Where freedom is taken away, the Holy Spirit does not flow. People have gone to very oppressed nations and visited them, particularly Russia when it was totalitarian and was in full power-it’s a lot better now than it was-but when people have gone and visited these oppressed nations, people look depressed, they don’t talk to each other, there is no flow of ideas. They’re afraid that somebody will report what they’ve said. They’re afraid all the time. There is a spirit of fear. They’re doing what’s right maybe, according to the state, but they have no freedom.

The greatest evil is always generated when people are forced to do what is right. The force to do what is right has so much power behind it because they say, “We need to create a law to make this happen.” People say, “That would be good. Let’s go ahead and do it.” They don’t even think about the principle of freedom involved. They never argue the principle of freedom. When our legislators are talking about passing laws, they never think they’re taking away freedom. The argument is always over making people do what’s right. If they would only argue over what the maximum freedom would be generated. How can we make the law so freedom will not be infringed, freedom of the whole will be amplified rather than held back. There are, like I said, a small handful of laws for robberies and rapes and murders and these types of laws, are good for people but there are too many laws that infringe freedom.

Discovering the New Age, Part 2

Sorting out Mind from Emotion

The core difference between the old age and the new is emotional polarization vs mental. DK emphasizes that a great benefit of the coming age is that people will shift to the mental plane in their thinking, “the plane whereon the Masters can be found.”

Humanity has made some progress in this direction but the vast majority are still emotionally polarized. If you confront their dogmatic beliefs with logic and reason they will just tune out, reject and seek to have their astral ideals reinforced.

There are a lot of things I could present, from the plane of the mind, concerning political beliefs that would be instantly rejected by many students. Such controversy usually accomplishes little but the establishment of grievances. Instead I am going to present several items of a political nature that most would agree must be handled with logic over feeling. If we can see eye to eye on these then perhaps a door may be open for wider agreement.

The first item to examine is the completely illogical and outrageous national debt.

By the end of the Obama administration the debt will be around $20 trillion dollars. That is about a quarter of a million dollars owed by a typical family of four.

And where can you find a typical family of four to come up with the quarter million cash to pay their share?

You can’t.

So the politicians just kick the can down the road in hope that the someone in the future will be responsible for the reckoning.

Is it logical that our government has run up such a huge debt in our name?

No.

Is it logical that the American people just acquiesced and let them do it?

No.

Is it logical that millions of Americans encouraged such borrowing and support it to this day?

No.

So, what accounts for this madness? Does it come the emotions or the mind?

Obviously such recklessness does not come from a people centered in reason, but from the emotional plane where logic usually takes a back seat.

But even emotional people have a brain. We all know lots of emotional people that still handle their budget in a reasonable way. How could we have let this happen to or country?

The answer is really quite simple. We the people have just not been paying attention to the details. We have trusted our financial fate to politicians and they tell us that there is no problem with the money they are spending… not to worry.

If we compared our country to a family it would go like this.

Jeb has a credit card with a very high limit but just makes an average salary. There are many things the family desires that cannot be obtained with his salary alone. Since his wife and kids are always complaining about what they do not have Jeb feels under pressure and starts to cave. He drives a used car but everyone wants a new one, and a sporty one at that. He buys one with his magical credit card and is a big hit with all in the family except little Eddie. Eddie is a smart little kid, a whiz on computers, gadgets and numbers.

“How are you going to pay for this car, Dad?” He asks.

Everyone turns on Eddie and frowns. His skepticism seems to spoil their excitement.

“Don’t worry about it,” says Dad.

“Yeah, don’t worry about it,” the others echoed.

Now the family had been pretty frugal with buying their groceries and Jeb was getting complaints that the neighbors eat better than they do. He thought about the praise he had received for buying the new car so he thought, “What the heck! I’ll buy better quality groceries with the credit card. After all, why should we do without when the neighbors have what they want?”

Jeb started buying quality foods with his credit card and soon little Eddie voiced concern about where the money was coming from. Jeb had some second thoughts and cut the grocery budget for a few weeks, but got so many complaints from the rest of the family that he went back to buying the good stuff. He thought, “We deserve this,” and threw in some expensive wine on the purchases.

Soon his son, Andy, graduated from High School and wanted to go to a good college. They had enough money set aside for him to go to a local junior college and live at home, but Andy didn’t like that idea.

Andy told his Dad, “I don’t want to go to the local backwoods college and stay at home. That is humiliating when all my friends are going to the good university in the big city.”

Jeb responded, “But, son, that would cost three times as much as the local college, especially considering, higher tuition and room and board.”

“But Dad, it’s for a good cause. It’ll give me a greater chance to get a good job.”

Jeb hesitates, “We just don’t have the money son.”

Andy triumphantly comes back with, “But you have that great credit card and if you really loved me and wanted what is best for me then you would use it.”

Jeb did love his son and he felt guilty that such love was ever in question so he gave in and sent Andy to the good college.”

Little Eddie voiced some concern about the large debt and interest accumulating on the credit card, but the Mother said, “You love Andy, don’t you?’

“Yes,’ said Eddie.

“You want what is best for him don’t you?”

“Of course.”

“Then let us get behind supporting him and sending him to the good college that he deserves,” said the Mother.

You see where this is going? Soon, not a month goes by that some new desire to spend for a benevolent purpose surfaces. There seems to be no end to good spending causes for the family.

And what is the inevitable result of such recklessness? Basically the same as a Ponzi Scheme.

Soon the payments and interest become so great that Jeb has to make payments by charging them to the card itself.

Finally comes the day that the bank carefully examines Jeb’s situation and becomes alarmed. They completely cut off his credit and take his card back. Then they demand payment in full. They tell him that if he doesn’t have the savings to pay then all his assets will be sold and proceeds taken by the bank.

The Jeb family then suffers a total disaster. They have to sell their car, their house and Andy has to drop out of college and get a low paying job. They now barely have enough for groceries and all other wonderful purchases are sold or returned.

Now they have nothing of value.

And why?

Because they followed desire/emotion rather than reason.

What could have prevented the disaster?

The solution was extremely simple. They should have only bought what they could afford and when they saw they were over extended they merely needed to cut back on their spending. They needed to realize that they could not afford everything they desired, even if the desired seemed to be benevolent.

Now the really odd thing is this.

Most families are fairly responsible with their credit cards and even the majority of the more irresponsible ones do not go so crazy that they will suffer a collapse through purchases that are not absolute necessities.

Now we, as a nation are like a big family that has a huge credit card, as did Jeb. Most of us can stand back and look at Jeb’s decisions and see them for what they are. They were based on the old age emotion desire aspect and not the Aquarian reasoning.

BUT…

Half or more of our population seem to have no problem with our exorbitant debt or adding much more to it as long as part of the money spent fulfills some of their personal desires they see as benevolent.

So I ask this question. Do decisions that support this dangerous spending come from the plane of the mind or the emotional/astral? Are they related to the old age, attached to desire or the new, seeking a mental polarization?

One would think that all but those anchored like cement on the old age would see where the mental polarization would lie.

Conclusion: Those attached to the old age, linked to the desire nature, will support totally irresponsible spending, even for many things that are not real necessities, to get what they want.

The mentally polarized will seek to a balanced budget and responsible spending, even if some of the good things they desire are not obtained. Instead they will work to obtain their desires through practical and logical and harmless means.

Discovering the New Age, Part 1

Discovering the New Age, Part 1

There has been a lot of talk in new age and esoteric circles about Piscean and Aquarian qualities and aspects that surface in our society. The Piscean is generally associated with the old that is passing away and no longer applicable and the Aquarian with the new that will be a part of the new age of peace, prosperity, love etc.

The problem with numerous assumptions made is that many tend to associate their own ideals and bias with the coming great age and associate all they dislike with the passing age of Pisces, generally seen as a pretty bad age that we should be happy to leave behind, or bury with the dead bones of the ignorant. Nowhere is this attitude more prominent than in the political world. The political view that is supported is seen as Aquarian and the opposing side is seen as old age or Piscean.

Let us attempt to put aside prejudices and do our best look at this subject objectively. The first thing we must do is draw a demarcation between Piscean and Aquarian characteristics so we can spot them in today’s climate. Without doing this it is pretty meaningless to just state that Joe the bartender’s views are old age with no light to them.

In examining the two ages we must not only take into consideration the astrological aspects, but also the Rays. The rays three, five and seven are active and closely linked to mind and harmonize well with Aquarius which is an air sign. Air is a symbol of the mind. Ray seven will produce the greatest changes in the near future and it is associated with Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius.

Just as Pisces is passing away so is the dominating ray of that age which is six. Pisces is a water sign, symbolic of emotions and ray six is the most emotional of the rays, governing the solar plexus. The water influence of Pisces with the idealism of ray six makes for a very emotional age where the people will often follow a course that runs contrary to logic.

As we read the history of the past two thousand years we indeed see that strong illogical emotions often governed the day rather than the voice of reason.

That said, let us tabulate some of the qualities of the passing age as well as the new.

Pisces

Strong emotional dominance, often powerful enough to override reason, logic and facts.

A focus on an ideal that stirs the emotional center. This causes people to emphasize perfection and is why there has been so much attention placed on Jesus as the perfect man who is linked to a perfect God.

A focus on sacrificing for the ideal in hope of benefiting in the next world.

An emphasis on strong authority that takes the place of analytical thinking.

Seeing things in black and white rather than the nuances in between.

A willingness to put individual freedom aside and be controlled by external powers. Slavery was widespread during the past age and individual freedom suppressed and often seen as heresy.

Strong judgmental approach. The Inquisition was an example of this.

Aquarius

People will switch from an emotional polarization to a more mental one. Logic and reason will play a much lager roll in decision making.

Growing focus will be placed on service for the good of the many.

Less emphasis will be placed on the ideal and perfection and more on what works and benefits humanity.

Using sacrifice to achieve a goal in hope of benefiting in the this world.

An emphasis of questioning authority and finding out the truth for oneself through his own efforts.

There will be a moving away from the black and white judgmental attitude and people will attain a broader scope of vision, seeing many shades of gray.

Maximum freedom will be sought and secured by the establishment of just and fair laws supported by the will of the majority of the people.

The seventh ray, which governs business, will influence business to continue to evolve. We will see more employee owned businesses and various types of cooperatives surface. Law, which is also seventh ray, will begin to adhere to the Law of Economy and assist business and the people rather than creating unwarranted obstacles.

If I had to distil the differences of the two ages down to a paragraph it would be this.

Decision-making in passing age of Pisces was governed by emotion and influenced by strong authority. In the new age it will be governed by mind, putting logic and reason ahead of feelings.

Right now we are between the two ages. The emotional control of Pisces still dominates over mind. The reason for this lingering of emotional control is that there are still many sixth ray egos incarnating and, according to DK, we’ll still see a lot of them for the next 120 years. After that, the sixth ray will be mostly out of incarnation and we will see the rise of a humanity that is capable of being polarized in the mind, which makes logical decisions rather than feel-good emotional ones that often lead to disaster.

Let us hope that civilization holds together until that day arrives.

Many of the things that have been accepted by the majority of seekers as positive change are correctly seen as Aquarian, or new age, in tendency. Here are a few:

(1) The shift away from authoritarian rule toward democracy. There is still way too much authoritarianism, but we are much better off than was the world in the midst of the Piscean Age.

(2) The shift toward the scientific method and acceptance of proven scientific discoveries.

(3) The shift away from absolute control of the church and religious authorities.

(4) The shift away from teachings that have no foundation in logic and common sense. There are still a lot of non-sensible teachings afloat, but humanity has taken a few steps toward the more logical side of things.

(5) The abolition of slavery and the shift toward greater individual and group freedom.

Wendell Phillips reminded us that this shift could be temporary. He said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty; power is ever stealing from the many to the few.”

Indeed we always have the power hungry seeking to control the many for the benefit of the few.

(6) The rise of charitable and service organizations that help those in need.

(7) The rise of spiritual investigation not connected with any church or dogma.

(8) The dramatic increase in technology, including. Technology involving air and space travel is particularly Aquarian, though technology as applied to business is strong also.

Now let us examine the controversial items on which there is much division, not only among spiritual seekers but all classes of people.

Paramount among them are:

Which political candidate to support?

Since both sides of the equation represent numerous issues, examining the choice becomes complicated. To determine whether one is Pisces or Aquarian in approach he needs to ask himself this question.

Is my decision on which party or candidate to support based on emotion or mind, reaction or reason, the good of the whole or satisfying the part?

The tricky thing about sorting out those who make decisions based on emotion is that many emotionally based people are found on both sides of the political equation. An emotionally based choice that is the better of the two is generally based on luck, but it often happens. They happen to get their data from a correct source or authority and it feels right to them so they go with it because of how it makes them feel. Without using the weight of mind though they will often make the wrong choice in other matters. Only through the application of mind, reason and logic can humanity as a whole consistently make the choice that is the greater good.

Another problem is that the person who makes a choice because of emotional polarization doesn’t see it that way. Many such people are very intelligent with good memories and have lots of facts, statistics and talking points in their computer brains. Almost all people whether they be polarized in the mind or emotions see themselves as following the path of reason and common sense. No one likes to think otherwise, no matter how unreasonable their conclusions may be.

If many of those making feeling based decisions are also intelligent then why would they stay with the emotional decision over the reasonable one?

The answer is that the emotions are very powerful. Everyone perceives the emotion of love on some level and feel that if their decision is based on this then it is the most reasonable in the end. The problem is that there are many glamours and illusions in the way of seeing perfect love, so being motivated by the emotion of love, especially solar plexus love, is not an accurate guide for decision making.

First, one must go though the avenues of the mind and learn to see the wisdom aspect of the heart center to see reality as it is. When the seeker has done this then he can make wise decisions as well as do that which is in harmony with inclusiveness and loving our fellow men and women.

Here is how it works for the intelligent, but emotionally polarized person.

He examines the surface of the issues and one side just feels much better than the other. From that point on his feelings cause a possible open mind to shut down. Instead of looking for the truth wherever it may lie he only looks for facts and reason that will verify his original feeling. He then proceeds with all the resources of a mentally polarized person to gather information to prove to himself and others that his feeling was correct.

An example of this we can all relate to is the illusion prevalent for thousands of years that the earth was the center of the universe with the sun and all the stars circling around it.

Now, all things considered, there was only a 50/50 chance that the sun circled around the earth. It was equally possible that it was the earth that circled around the sun. Why then was it that over 99% of the population believed the illusion?

The answer is simple. Each emotionally based person feels himself to be the center of the universe, so naturally the earth on which he resides is also the center of all things.

The idea that the earth is the glorious center of all creation harmonized with feelings of the Piscean aged people. We, as a people, had to be dragged away from this idea, kicking and screaming, until realty stared us in the face with such power that we were forced to acquiesce.

Today, both the emotionally and mentally polarized yield to the proof that it is the earth that circles around the sun.

BUT… that old idea still has residual power causing many intelligent, but deluded people to believe that:

  • The earth is the only planet in the universe with life.
  • The earth is special in God’s eyes and is the crown jewel of the universe.
  • The earth is the center of a great battle between the forces of good and evil in the universe.

The truth is that earth is only one of trillions of planets in the universe with various forms of life. It is more beautiful than most, but not unique or the center of anything except from this point of view. Every creation and life in the universe is a center from which all things in its periphery must be discovered.

Casting out Fear

June 17, 2016

Casting out Fear

Duke asks:

Is there a correspondence of love to gravity, in that both are an attractive or unifying force whose influence and effect extend well beyond the immediate locale, and even though it may not be the strongest force in play at a particular moment or place, given sufficient time its effects become quite large?

JJ

Indeed there is a strong correspondence. They are both female energies that pull from the periphery to the center.

Radiance, light, the visible and outgoing activity are male and love, gravity, magnetism and the invisible are female.

It is interesting that the time that Newton discovered the laws of gravity coincides with the turning of the cycle where females started to come into their power. Like gravity and love the natural powers of the female are invisible and easily overlooked if you are not paying attention. Also like gravity and love the female energies hold all things together in the universe. One can see active male energy at play, but you only see and feel the effects of the female energies.

A truism speaks of the “feminine mystique.” Feminine energies are indeed mysterious and can only be understood by looking beyond the obvious.

Us males are pretty simple creatures. What you see is what you get – in most cases.

Duke continues:

in First John chapter 4 verse 18 we read: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.”

If we accept these statements, then logically, where there is fear, there is not perfect love.

JJ

The key to understanding this verse is the idea that “perfect love casteth out fear.”

Fear is basically a concern over the possibility of loss. Losses that concern us are our lives, our health, our finances, relationships etc.

When one unexpectedly faces a loss the last thing that will normally come to mind will be perfect love. If your brakes give out on your car and you see yourself headed toward a cliff facing certain death you are not likely to let go of the wheel and enter into a state of quiet bliss where you can access the perfect love. You are going to react to the fear caused by the possibility of loss of life and do everything in your power to avoid going over the cliff.

The early Christians faced the situation of displeasing the emperor and getting fed to the lions or worse. Which ones of us would not face some fear if we encountered soldiers approaching our doorway with intent to haul you away from family and friends to certain torture and death? Perhaps overriding a fear for self may be a fear over how loved ones, who depend on you, are going to survive after you are gone.

Now put yourself in that early Christian’s situation. You are torn asunder from your loved ones as well as doing work for Christ and the church. You are now in a cage awaiting a release to the lions where you will surely be mangled to death.

The one thing you have is a little time to reflect. You use this time wisely and seek communion with God. As you go deeply within you feel a great sense of peace and love that eclipses all your fears and concerns. In this instant you dwell in perfect love and it has indeed cast out all fear. You now face the terrible situation ahead of you in a state of peace with all fears cast out. All sense of loss is gone as you realize you are going to gain much more in the end than the loss which is before you.

Perfect love cannot cast out fear unless there are some fears there in the first place to be cast out. And the perfect love does not come in a vacuum. It comes to he who works in active service for his fellow brothers and sisters, the high and low, the rich and poor and, yes, conservatives and liberals.

Perfect love is an attainment in consciousness after many travails. Many fears must first be met, mastered and defeated. A person must first be willing to lose all things connected with the material world and it takes many lifetimes to attain this state of mind.

In the meantime, all of us can experience love to a certain degree and use this love to cast out our fears and press forward.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

Plato

Love, Hate & Fear

June 15, 2016

Love, Hate & Fear

There has been a lot of dialog over these three subjects during the past few decades. From the thinking presented much inspiration has surfaced as well as quite a bit of obscure thinking which has led to some illusion.

Let us take a fresh look at these three words and their relationship to each other.

Some have said that love is the opposite of hate, others that it is the opposite of fear. Then A Course in Miracles says it has no opposite. What is the truth here?

The truth depends on how we define our words. Now some say that love cannot be defined but only experienced, but consider this. All things were created by the Word of God and are extensions of the originating Word. Because all things are related to that Word then all things that are true can be encapsulated in a word, or words. Love can indeed be defined, or reduced to words. If one cannot do this then he doesn’t understand it fully.

Part of the problem of defining love with words is that there are numerous levels of understanding of what it is and each level of understanding would define it a little differently. Therefore, instead of micro analyzing it let us look at the general principle.

In the beginning was the One that multiplied Itself and became the many. In the end, the many unite and merge and again become the One. Love is that force which draws the many back to their source so they eventually become the one and enter into the great rest of God — pralaya.

Love can only exist when there is more than one life. It is the attraction of one life towards another life with the immediate goal of union and the ultimate goal of going back to the One Source. It only manifests in the many. When the many return to the One then Love enters a state of rest for there is no longer the many to be pulled into the One.

We could say that life is the point of love at the center that draws all life to each other and to itself.

So what would be the opposite then?

The opposite would be a force that pushes life away from each other as well as their source.

Hate and fear can cause people to be repelled from each other, but it can also cause them to make alliances and get closer to others of like minds. Therefore, hate and fear are not exact opposites of love.

Since love is a power of attraction then a closer opposite would be repulsion. You can be repelled from something without hating or fearing it. In this reality you may realize that it is just not in your best interests to be in close proximity to a certain life and it is best to keep your distance. You may not hate a lion, but you do not desire to get in a cage with one. In this world there are many separations caused by common sense rather than hate or fear.

So, is there any truth to the idea love has no opposite because it is eternal? In the worlds of form this does not make sense, but when viewed from the highest aspect of ourselves in the formless worlds it does. The highest part of ourselves is linked to all other lives and does not suffer separation and dwells in consummated love in the Eternal Now. It has no opposite. But on this physical plane there is indeed perceived separation. There is attraction and repulsion so opposition does indeed exist here and does wherever there is form.

Now let us look at hate. Hate may sometimes cause repulsion, the opposite of love, but it can sometimes lead to seeking out the cause of the hate and staying in close association with him or her. Instead of moving away from the source of hate the hater may follow the person around and cause as many problems as possible. In extreme cases the hater will seek to utterly destroy the thing or person hated.

In some cases a person may experience love and hate toward the same person. You may have an argument with your spouse and insult each other and feel hate for a time, but during this feeling you realize that you love the person more than you hate them.

The love referred to here is indeed a lower reflection of pure love, but it is an aspect nevertheless.

Now let us look at fear. This is far from being the opposite of love for sometimes it may surface because of love. Let us say that Jim has great love for his wife and kids and is the only source of income for them but has a temperamental boss. He may have a strong fear that he may be fired and not be able to support his family. If he were single he would not care or fear as much.

Other times fear can cause repulsion. If you disturb a hive of bees you would want to follow your fear and move in the opposite direction as quickly as possible.

Some talk of fear as if it is just a temporary thing that the enlightened can easily overcome, but there are many fears on many levels with which even great lives must contend. Would you be surprised to learn that even the Christ had to deal with a fear that he may not complete his mission as hoped, or that he feels a great tension (related to fear) about coming again and walking among us?

DK wrote that “Fear has its roots in the warp and woof of matter itself.” Since the matter of the universe is the physical body of God this means that God Itself has fear woven in the fabric of his body.

Joseph Smith made this interesting statement; “What did Jesus do? Why I do the things I saw my Father do when worlds came rolling into existence. My Father worked out his kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to my Father, so that he may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt him in glory. he will then take a higher exaltation, and I will take his place, and thereby become exalted myself.” Teachings Of The Prophet Joseph Smith; pages 347-8

The apostle Paul said: “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Phil 2:12

The main thing that causes fear is an approach to the unknown with the possibility of loss. If you are in a battle for your life there is a possibility of loss and if the outcome is unknown there will be fear. He who thinks otherwise is fooling himself.

When God created the universe he did not know of all the problems he would encounter and this fear became embedded in the fabric of the worlds of form.

The key to dealing with fear is not to deny its existence, or pretend one is above it, but to face it and deal with it. There is no courage without fear. The courageous soul will move forward toward a good end despite fears and in the end discover the peace of God and obtain a rest from all the fears and cares of the lower worlds.

The Candidates, Aquarian or Piscean?

64

May 30, 2016

The Candidates, Aquarian or Piscean?

I have noted before that the vast majority of Bailey students as well as new agers in general support the politics of the left. My estimate is that around 80-90% of them take this stand.

That is fine. I realize that many seekers and even initiates may disagree with each other on a number of things. The great work will still go forward if all do their best in seeing the soul within their fellow workers.

On the other hand, something about this upcoming election has brought out the worst in many people high and low in evolution.

In some circles people are not only plugging Bernie Sanders for president, but insulting anyone who may wind up voting for Donald Trump. Hillary is kind of seen that a middle of the road candidate and her supporters, though not cutting edge, are given a pass.

The talk of Bernie Sanders vs Trump goes something like this.

Bernie represents the Aquarian age, the Brotherhood of Light, reflects the teachings of DK and the Masters. If Bernie can get elected spiritual evolution will receive a great shot in the arm. Those who support him are the more enlightened of society.

Trump, on the other hand, is said to represent the old ways of the Piscean age. He is a strong authority patterned after the likes of Hitler and Mussolini and needs to be defeated at all costs. His supporters must be backward indeed for anyone in contact with the Christ within would surely shun the guy and support Bernie.

Since I would vote for Trump over either Bernie or Hillary this then places me with the Neanderthals and zealots of the Piscean age that is supposed to be dying out. It looks like my hand is forced to stand up for truth as I see it.

Here is the question to ask. Does Trump really represent the passing age of Pisces that must be discarded and does Bernie herald the Age of Aquarius?

Let us look at Bernie first. Why do his followers associate him with the age of Aquarius and the Brotherhood of Light?

There is basically one reason for this and that is that Bernie is a big government socialist and hopes to transform America into a socialist utopia. Because many new agers love their ideal of socialism being forced upon the people they equate this with the coming age of Aquarius, not the passing age of Pisces.

So, is Bernie’s idea of socialism really Aquarian in nature or is it from the old order of things?

To answer this we must realize that there are two basic types of socialistic endeavors. One is accomplished by force through the strong authority of a powerful government and the other is accomplished through free will cooperative endeavors.

Both have been around since the beginning of civilization and both existed in the days of Jesus. At that time Rome was the entity that had great authority over the lives of the people and they taxed the people to provide various social programs for the citizens.

There is not one instance of Jesus supporting such an endeavor. The only mention of taxes in relation to Jesus was a criticism that he was not paying them. (See Matt 17:24-27)

On the other hand, Jesus was an advocate of free will socialism. He told his followers to donate directly to the poor. That was a much different injunction than if he had advocated paying higher taxes for Caesar so the state could redistribute more wealth.

Today we see many examples of the type of free will socialism as advocated by Jesus in the various churches. They collect free will offerings and redistribute the wealth to the poor. The Salvation Army is a great example of this.

Other examples of free will socialism are various insurance plans that customers can take or leave, community gardens and employee-owned businesses. Free will socialism rises or falls its own merits whereas government enforced socialism can just tax the people more to compensate for a program that is not efficient or badly managed.

So which kind of socialism better represents the new Age of Aquarius?

The obvious answer is free will socialism. The Age of Pisces was governed by strong authority and powerful control over the people by both church and state. America struck a great blow at the powerful authority of the beast with the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution that limited the powers of outer authorities, especially the government.

The Great Seal of the United States struck the keynote of the new Aquarian Age with the words, Novus ordo seclorum, Latin for “New Order of the Ages.”

And what was this new order of the ages supposed to be? It was a limited government supporting a free people free from the control of strong authority and free from taxation without representation.

Socialism enforced by powerful authority represents the passing age whereas socialism by maximum free will is an ingredient of the new. The falling of the Berlin wall and the Old Soviet Union signaled the failure of strong social Piscean ideals enforced by strong authority.

In addition to strong authority let us look at another characteristic of the Piscean age. Pisces is the strongest water sign and water is a symbol of the emotions. Aquarius is an air sign and air is a symbol of the mind. DK tells us that the great shift of focus to move us into the new age is a change from polarization in the emotional energies to that of the mind.

Pisces is governed by the sixth ray of whose keynote is idealism which works hand in hand with emotional energy. Emotion fixes the image of the ideal in the mind and adds to its power over the individual. Conversely, emotion attaches itself to the ideal and seeks to manifest it any way it can, even if the rights of others are trampled upon.

Christ presented the divine ideal that stimulated the higher emotion of love, but the flaws of men degenerated the two from being centered in the heart to the solar plexus. We thus saw much that was negative manifested though emotion and idealism during the Age of Pisces. Examples range from the Roman Empire to the crusades, the inquisition, The French revolution and the bloodbath that followed, to burning witches at the stake to slavery, to the Communist Revolution and the idealist authoritarian rule afterwards.

The air sign Aquarius promises a move from idealism, sacrifice and strong emotional authority to a period of time where people will be polarized in the mind and discover the joys of living in a reasonable and logical world governed by wise choices.

Will the Aquarian Age be a replay of the Piscean where we start with a great example and degenerate into the wrong use of mind, which can slay the real and enhance darkness if misdirected?

The expectation of the Hierarchy is that this will not be the case. They tell us that humanity has made major strides in spiritual evolution and we are at the cusp of entering the world of mind, “the plane whereon the Masters can be found.

Part of the reason that a grand opportunity awaits us is that we are not entering a normal Age of Aquarius. Instead, the age we are entering is a lesser age within a cycle of Aquarius that is much greater, over 25,000 years. These strong energies of mind related to service only come along with a double potion about once every 310,000 years. The last time it happened Atlantis was flourishing.

We have just moved over the cusp of the new sign but the old energies of Pisces are fighting strong for survival. They are like the power of a great Dweller on the Threshold fighting for its own survival seeking to hold us back. The old Pisces emotional and authoritarian energies are powerful indeed because the majority of humanity is still strongly polarized in their emotional astral self. They are influenced more by slogans and catchphrases than logic and reason. The emotional pull is so strong that it is likely to take us a couple hundred more years for humanity to take full advantage of the Aquarian energies of mind.

Until humanity itself makes the shift that catches us up with the shift already made in the Zodiac the negative energies of lower emotion and fixed idealism will pull strongly upon us.

When we look at Bernie Sanders we see a person fixed very strongly, not in the Aquarian energies of mind, but in the Piscean energies of idealism authoritarianism, dominated by strong emotion that often does not listen to reason.

The obvious sign of the Piscean, sixth ray idealist is a life that is spent endorsing and promoting an ideal within the mind, but making little if any headway in accomplishing anything of practical value.

This description fits Bernie very precisely. Up to about the age of forty he spent his time promoting his ideals not even having a full time job, accomplishing little of value – not even writing a treatise or book of significance. Then when he did get a full time job it was in the government. He’s never been involved substantially in any private enterprise that creates a thing of value.

Speaking of a dreamer who never accomplishes anything DK says:

A dreamer whose dreams never materialise, a builder who stores up material which he never employs, a visionary whose visions are of no use to gods or men, is a clog upon the system universal. He is in great danger of atrophying.

Letters On Occult Meditation, Page 97

Bernie is indeed a visionary who wants the world to conform to his ideals but so far has made little happen in that direction for which he is responsible.

If he were to become president would he then have his great opportunity or would he wind up just being “a clog upon the system universal”?

We have already had a number of presidents who have accomplished little and either just maintained the status quo or got in the way of Aquarian energies. We do not need another one.

As stated, one of the hallmarks of the Piscean age is the strong emotion that accompanies it. It is the most heavily weighed water sign and water is a symbol of emotion. Powerful misplaced idealism and raw solar plexus emotion dominated much of that age. The quintessential example is perhaps the French Revolution. It was led by a number of idealists with strong feelings who promised a better world for the common man. Maximilien Robespierre was one of the leaders promoting hope and change but wound up incorporating a reign of terror that made the world shiver with abhorrence. It became so bad that he became of victim of his own methods and was himself guillotined without the benefit of a trial.

So, does Bernie and his supporters show signs of wrongheaded zeal in furthering the ideal and destroying the opposition.

Indeed they have. They have made every effort to not only stop Trump from speaking or being heard when he does speak, but they have blocked traffic, tried to shut down main roads leading to Trump rallies and crash the meetings and attempt to prevent anyone but themselves from being heard. A recent (as of this writing) example of their shenanigans happened Friday March 27 in California as CNN reported that about 35 people were arrested by police in riot gear. These people were out of control resisting every effort of the police to protect attending Trump supporters from harm.

Ever since thousands of protesters were able to completely shut down a Trump rally in Chicago last March they have been charged up wanting to create more mayhem and interfere with freedom of speech in any way possible.

All but the conservative media have given mere surface coverage to the forceful attacks of the Sanders supporters until it affected their own party. When the Sanders supporters threatened violence at the Nevada Democratic convention, then the left leaning media gave some serious attention to the matter.

Here is a clip from an article in Newsweek:

The unseemly tirade of Sanders supporters was a marvel, the kind of behavior more likely to be seen among British soccer hooligans than people claiming to be interested in politics. A chair was thrown. People screamed “bitch!” at Senator Barbara Boxer, a staunch liberal from California. Even the Nevada state Democratic chairwoman, Roberta Lange, who had endorsed Sanders, needed a security detail just to go to the bathroom in order to protect her from the hypocritical “humanity lovers” who seem to hate everyone but themselves and their idol. Afterward, the goons kept up their hostile hysterics. Protesters vandalized the offices of the state Democratic Party. Lange’s personal contact information, including her cell phone number, were posted online, and she has since received thousands of death threats, according to state party officials. One of the text messages to Lange said, “Praying to god someone shoots you in the FACE and blows your democracy-stealing head off!” (Only in the delusions of Sanders-land could democracy be stolen when the winner of the popular vote was winning.) Voicemail obtained by Jon Ralston, the dean of Nevada political reporters, contain such delightful statements as, “People like you should be hung in a public execution…. You are a sick, twisted piece of sh*t, and I hope you burn for this!” And, “You f**king stupid bitch! What the hell are you doing? You’re a f**king corrupt bitch!” And, “You’re a c*nt. F**k you!” And, “You probably just guaranteed fire is in Philadelphia.” Yeah, these are exactly the kind of people who Americans want to have as the next president’s base—vicious, sociopathic misogynists.

LINK

Barbara Boxer, a long time Democratic stalwart reported to CNN, “I feared for my safety and I had a lot of security around me … I’ve never had anything like this happen. It was a scary situation … If I didn’t have a lot of security, I don’t know what would have happened.”

Through all these disruptions and infringements on free speech and threats of violence Bernie has mostly just stood back giving the impression that he silently approves of such behavior.

All this brings to mind a saying from Jesus,

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matt 7:16-20

Part of Bernie’s fruit are the out of control supporters and that fruit is quite distasteful.

“But,” says the Bernie supporter, “everyone knows that the Trump people are the ones who are really out of control and should be feared.”

If one only listens to the reporting of the left this opinion is understandable for Trump and his supporters are presented as being a fearsome and violent bunch.

Here are the facts. All the problems at Trump rallies are created by Bernie supporters (maybe a few from Hillary) creating blockades harassing otherwise peaceful Trump attendees and forcing themselves into rallies creating mayhem to interrupt free speech.

If this infringement happened to any other group on the planet there would be some negative reaction take place. Let a thousand protesters try to stop Pope Frances from speaking to a large group and see what happens. Believe me, as saintly as you may think the Pope and his supporters are you can bet there would be some type of negative response take place.

The fact is this. All the attacks with intent to disrupt have come from the left, from Bernie and Hillary supporters, not from Trump. Of all the 17 original Republican candidates there has not been one group of any of their supporters who have attended a Bernie or Hillary rally and attempted to shut them down.

Now considerer what would have been reported if a couple thousand Trump supporters crashed a Bernie rally and blocked toads and entrances. You can bet that the Bernie people would have reacted violently and the supportive media would have placed all the blame on Trump.

When you tabulate the number of defensive attacks by Trump supporters, made only at Trump rallies which have been invaded, you have to give them credit for restraint, instead of blaming them for the problem. If Bernie supporters had remained peaceful there wouldn’t have been enough negativity from the Trump people to make any news.

So, let us examine these two groups – Bernie and Trump supporters. The Trump people just want to attend their guy’s gathering, listen and then go home in peace. On the other hand, the Bernie people are just not happy leaving well enough alone. They feel they must invade the space of the Trump people and prevent them from even hearing their guy. This is sad indeed and certainly does not speak for Bernie as one who is a herald of the new Age of Aquarius.

Another point to consider is that Aquarius is ruled by Uranus which is dominated by the seventh ray. On top of this the seventh ray is coming into incarnation and having an increased influence as we move into the new age. This means that if we want to find a true Aquarian candidate we would want to see aspects of the seventh ray manifested.

The seventh ray governs business, finance, organizational ability, ceremony and law.

Bernie is the strongest anti business, anti finance with the least organizational experience in the presidential equation and Hillary is not far behind. In many cases he does not support compliance with the law.

Trump on the other hand, is very strong seventh ray in this regard He has been in business all his life and has had many dealings with the financial world. He also runs and has run a number of large organizations. He is also a supporter of obedience to law. As far as the seventh ray aspect goes Trump is the Aquarian candidate, hands down.

As far as the sun signs of the candidates go Trump is a Gemini, Bernie is a Virgo and Hillary a Scorpio. Aquarius is an air sign and Trump is the only one who has a corresponding air sign – Gemini. Bernie’s is an earth sign and Hillary in Scorpio is a water sign. In fact water related to the age of Pisces is very strong in her chart.

Air and space exploration is also strongly related to Aquarius. Through the years Bernie has been one of the least supportive in Congress of the space program. He says that social programs are much more important than exploring space. Hillary has a similar attitude, but not as pronounced.

Trump not only has his own private jet but has been a supporter of space exploration and strongly criticized Obama for cutting funds. He wants to get the space program revitalized after he gets the economy headed the right direction.

Another strong characteristic of the Aquarian Age will be law which is an aspect of the seventh ray which is both coming into incarnation as well as being strong in Aquarius by being the dominate ray of Uranus which rules this sign.

So, why is law and order an Aquarian characteristic? After all, many new agers kind of see the coming new age as something existing in a laid back atmosphere where people do their own thing, kind of like a hippie commune satiation.

The hippies had their place in our societal evolution, but their casual adherence to law was not what we were supposed to incorporate from them.

Many seekers do not realize the importance of law and associate law and order with the old age that needs to be left behind. Nothing could be further from the truth. Laws that are accepted and respected are essential to create a peaceful, strong and progressive society. Where there is a breakdown of law you have a descent into either chaos, tyranny, or both.

When you have laws that are properly enforced and respected by the people as being just then you have a general population that can plan their careers, their activities, their recreation, their gatherings, their families, their business etc in a methodical order which can achieve positive results. Without good law constructive progress is greatly hindered.

What interferes with the implementation of constructive law? There are a number of items.

(1) A leader or leaders taking too much authority to themselves so that their word is law above that of the written law passed by legislative bodies. In tyrannies many victims may not break any law but merely offend some authority and are punished on a whim.

(2) Authorities that are tolerated in picking and choosing which laws are to be enforced.

We have a prime example of this with immigration. Many authorities are choosing to ignore immigration laws thus creating a volatile situation where many are upset and few are satisfied.

Many think laws should be ignored if they are seen as bad, but no less than Abraham Lincoln, a quintessential Aquarian, would disagree. Some of the worst laws we have had concerned slavery, yet even though he strongly disagreed with them he recognized the importance of adhering to law to prevent chaos. He had the attitude of supporting written law whether it be good or bad, but then worked to change that which did more harm than good. On this note he made one of the greatest changes in law in history and became the Great Emancipator, bringing freedom to the slaves.

To have a stable society we must follow Lincoln’s example. We should follow existing law, but then change that which does not work with better law.

If we think immigration law on the books is wrong then we should not ignore it, but work to change it and improve it.

Trump has been strongly criticized for expressing intent to enforce immigration law, even though he says he will create a wide door to let the harmless ones back in. What the critical new agers do not understand is that this is the correct attitude of the true leader in the coming Aquarian Age. Such a leader must be like Lincoln and work with existing law, but then make effort to change it if it is imperfect.

Picking and choosing which laws we will enforce as Bernie and Hillary are doing is not the Aquarian way.

(3) Too many laws and rules. If there are too many laws then confusion results. People will be breaking the law just because they do not even know it exists or the shear number can create frustration and chaos.

An example was Obamacare which consisted of thousands of pages. Few read much of it before voting and afterwards even supporters found problems with the wording.

The key to order is not to pass lots of law but pass essential and just law and then enforce it. Once we realize the importance of this we can begin to create a society worthy of the New Age of Aquarius.

I could go on and write a book on this subject, but this will have to suffice for the moment. There should be enough food for thought here to convince the objective reader that it is wrong headed to just make the knee jerk assumption that Bernie is the herald of the Aquarian Age. A Piscean idealist does not an Aquarian make.

The Two Paths

May 28, 2016

The Two Paths

It s interesting that the vast majority of Alice A. Bailey students who aspire to taking the right hand path cleave strongly to the political left and speak negatively of the people of the right.

In stating this I am not saying that all the people on the left are bad guys in cahoots with the Dark Brotherhood, or that those on the political right are all good guys under the wing of Christ and associates.

On the other hand, it is perhaps wise to consider the Law of Correspondences and ask ourselves if there are more ingredients of the right hand path in the political right than the left. Perhaps it is no coincident that the political right identifies with the right, and the so-called liberals with the left.

To clarify this we must ask ourselves what the main difference is between the right and left hand paths as well as the political right and left.

Before exploring this we must ignore many of the angry accusations the political left and right make against each other, for some are not even founded in reality. What we want to look at is the core difference and see if there is a correspondence to the two paths.

The prime difference between those who take the right and left hand path is the principle of freedom. Those on the right hand path seek to allow the maximum amount of freedom possible to individuals, groups and even nations whereas those on the left hand value maximum control and regulation over freedom in seeking to accomplish their goals. The Dark Brotherhood does not trust the individual to set his own course and to chart his own path.

Why?

Their excuse is that human beings are flawed and because they are flawed they need direction from superior beings who can guide them better than they can guide themselves.

And who are these superior beings?

There are of course, the leaders within the left hand path. Of course they have flaws too, but such leaders always see themselves as superior to those with a different opinion than themselves and that different opinion must be obliterated through rules and regulations set up and administered by themselves.

Does this correspond to the political left and right?

Yes, it does to some extent for the main difference between the two lies in the principle of freedom.

Overall the political right espouses more freedom in the following areas.

(1) Lower taxes allowing for the freedom to keep and control a larger percentage of your own money.

(2) Fewer laws, rules and regulations that will restrict free well and free enterprise.

(3) Freedom to bear arms as stipulated in the Second Amendment.

(4) Free speech, even if it is highly offensive as long as it does not lead to obvious physical harm.

(5) Emphasis on decentralized and smaller government as opposed to centralized big government.

The political left generally wants to restrict freedom on each of the five points. They usually want to raise taxes, increase rules and regulations, increase restrictions on arms and desire to limit speech they find distasteful. It is almost always the left that decrees which speech is politically correct and which is not. It is the left that encourages sensitivity training so people a get their minds right so their speech will be in the correct alignment.

Finally the left always supports increasing the size, power and central authority of government.

Free speech is the greatest freedom we possess which allows us to move forward on the path of light and unfortunately it is under threat in the United States and much of the free world as never before. More and more people of the left are rising up demanding the limitation of speech, often in subtle ways, but sometimes openly.

Just one example is that many are coming forward expressing a desire to prosecute those who give opinions on global warming that run contrary to that of the left.

The dividing line of freedom between the political left and right is not exactly black and white. Many religious people on the right object to obscene speech, pornography, and various types of immoral behavior and would like to see them controlled more rigidly. Then there are times the political right will support excessive laws and regulations that is in alignment with their own point of view. Even so, overall, the political right supports the Principle of maximum freedom more than does the left.

Now the left will argue that freedom needs to be restricted to insure that the greater good can prevail. We need higher taxes so we can fund more social programs. We need more regulations because people are not responsible. We need to control guns because there are too many accidents and we need some restrictions on speech because wrong speech can hurt feelings and impede progress.

I wonder how many esoteric students have tried to assess the reasoning behind the Dark Brotherhood’s desire to restrict freedom. It appears that many just see them as coarse beastly individuals who are just out to do all the damage they can do.

They overlook one thing. That is that every thinking individual follows a course that he sees as reasonable for himself and others. The dark brothers are not monsters foaming at the mouth, but people with a plan. In their plan the intelligent will rule those who are not smart enough to govern themselves. This will produce order while giving those at the top freedom, security and abundance.

People are drawn to the left hand path because they believe that they will be a part of the ruling class and those they rule will benefit from their superiority.

Others are drawn to the right hand path with the Brotherhood of Light, not for power but for the joy of service and knowing that working with the Principle of Freedom that maximum progress for all will be made in the long run. They trust their fellow men and women to eventually make the right decisions in an atmosphere of freedom.

It is true that there are always risks associated with freedom., With the freedom to drive a car comes the risk of having an accident. With the freedom to own a gun comes a similar risk. Free speech carried the risk of offending people or making a fool of yourself. With the freedom to keep your money comes the risk of losing it on a bad investment.

Those on the path of light know the risks and do not mind taking a few of them. Those on the left want to eliminate all possible risk.

Those who are on the political left and right who support the principle of freedom are supporting the right hand path and those who fight against it, whether they be the political left or right, support the esoteric left hand path.

Here are some quotes from DK on the subject:

In the coming New Age, the Master is responsible for the offering of opportunity and for the right enunciation of the truth but for no more than that. *** I exact, therefore, no blind obedience. But, however, if advice and suggestion are accepted and you choose—of your own free will—to follow my instructions, those instructions must be followed accurately. *** There is not the slightest suggestion of authoritative pronouncement by a member of the Hierarchy who must be obeyed and whose word is infallible. Let this be remembered, otherwise work will not be possible, elements of danger may enter in and the present effort come to naught.*** Masters are made through the achieving of mastery and not through obedience to any person.

Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Pages 5 & 7

Leave people free in all respects—with the freedom that you demand and expect for yourself.

Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Page 427

Today, the Masters are dealing with the highly mental type of disciple who believes in the freedom of the human will and consciousness and who resents the imposition of any so-called authority. The intellectual man will not accept any infringement of his freedom, and in this he is basically right.****The obedience required is obedience to the Plan. It is not obedience to the Master, no matter what many old-style occult schools may say.*** The obedience demanded is that of the personality to the soul as soul knowledge, soul light and soul control become increasingly potent in the mind and brain reactions of the disciple.

Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Pages 686-687

The Master is prevented by occult law from using any pressure or power in the effort to swing the minds of those whom He is influencing into unison with His. He may not impose His will upon the disciple; His desires, aspirations and wishes must not be the enforced directing agency in the lives of those with whom He is in touch. He may impress their minds with what He feels is needed in periods of world crisis. He can express to them what He feels should be done. But it remains for the disciple to decide and prove. Disciples are in a Master’s group because of similarity of ideas, even though they sense and express those ideas far less clearly than He does and see the vision as through a glass darkly.

Continuity of Consciousness

Continuity of Consciousness

Jenny asks:

My son desires do learn to live without sleep as some masters have. Have you heard of anyone who has been successful doing so?

JJ
I have heard stories, but haven’t seen any proof that anyone has been successful avoiding sleep.

Sleep is based on the principle of rest and this applies to all lives on all levels, even God. God, we are told in the Bible, needed to take a rest after creation was complete and the ancient wisdom teachings tell us that in between creations the universe dissipates and God and all lives in him/her/it rest in the Great Pralaya.

When it is said of certain masters that they need not sleep it doesn’t mean they do not need times of rest. Like they say a change is considered a rest and this is really what sleep or rest is. It is not the obliteration of consciousness, but a change in where consciousness is directed.

In normal sleep our consciousness is split between the astral/emotional and the mental. The mental part returns to the world of the soul and the astral part takes you into the dream state. In both cases attention is taken off the physical body which allows it to get some rest and recharge. This recharging of the physical body is absolutely necessary for anyone who is occupying one. Anyone who goes several days without such a recharging gets himself in serious trouble on he physical plane.

When a Master who is in a physical body is said to go without sleep what really happens is that he has developed continuity of consciousness that allows him to have continuous consciousness and awareness of surroundings 24 hours a day. During part of those 24 hours he will take his attention off the body so it can recharge, but will maintain full awareness in the world of the soul. So his consciousness is awake 24 hours a day, even though for part of that time his attention on the physical will be minimal allowing for physical rest and recharging.

Here are a couple quotes from DK on continuity of consciousness:

We call it continuity of consciousness, and by this we mean the power to be fully aware of all happenings in all spheres and departments of man’s being during the entire twenty-four hours of the day. As yet this is far from being the case. There is no real awareness of existence during the hours of sleep. The dream life as related is as full of illusion as any of the more definitely lower psychic experiences. The slowly growing interest in dreams from the standpoint of psychology and the investigation of their probable source are the first weak attempts towards establishing the awareness on a really scientific basis. There is as yet no conscious registering of mental activity during such times, for instance, as when the emotional body holds the centre of the stage.

A Treatise on White Magic, Pages 423-424

Learn to keep focussed in the head through visualization and meditation and through the steady practice of concentration; develop the capacity to live increasingly as the king seated on the throne between the eyebrows. This is a rule that can be applied to the every day affairs of life. *** Learn, as you go to sleep, to withdraw the consciousness to the head. This should be practiced as a definite exercise as one falls to sleep. One should not permit oneself to drift off to sleep, but should endeavor to preserve the consciousness intact until there is a conscious passing out onto the astral plane. Relaxation, close attention, and a steady drawing upwards to the center in the head should be attempted, for until the aspirant has learned to be steadily aware of all processes in going to sleep and to preserve at the same time his positivity, there is danger in this work. The first steps must be taken with intelligence and followed for many years until facility in the work of abstraction is achieved.
