Labor One – Controlling Thought

JJ: So Hercules was sent forth on his first great labor in the sign of Aries. In the sign of Aries he was to capture these man-eating mares and these man-eating mares were owned by Diomedes, the son of Mars. They roamed the countryside and they were terrible mares and they of course were female. This was his first labor and it was to be introduced to female energy because that is the greatest mystery for us guys – to figure out – that is how to handle females.

These mares would roam the countryside and if someone got in their way they would run them down. Everyone was terrified of them plus they bred very quickly and the animals they bred were worse than themselves so the situation kept deteriorating. His first labor was to capture the man-eating mares and herd them into a safe place where they would not hurt anybody.

Hercules says I will get my good friend Abduras to come with me and he calls him to come with him and round up the mares. They rounded them up and they were driving them to the pastures where they were supposed to be safely placed. Hercules was very proud of himself and everything seemed to be under control so he tells Abduras go ahead and finish of the job and he will go and tell the townspeople they are safe.

So Hercules went and tells the townspeople this and he gets all the glory. In the meantime Abduras is herding these mares back and they turn on him and Abduras was not strong enough like Hercules, and they trampled him and mortally wounded him.

Now Hercules was in the town receiving all the glory when he heard of this and he went back to Abduras and as Abduras lay dying Hercules had to herd the mares by himself and put them in the pasture where they were supposed to be. And as the story goes Hercules finished the job but Abduras his best friend lay dead.

Then the Presiding One says the first labor is done, but badly done.

We are going to examine the meaning of all this. The symbology of horses signifies thought. They are thoughts out of control. The horses were female and female symbolizes the emotional nature so it would be the emotional nature controlling where thought goes. For instance, let us say that you do not like someone and your mind thinks about how you don’t like him but your emotional sends it forth in ways of gossip, or spreading lies about the person or things like this.

So these are thoughts that are mingled with emotion that are very destructive and they are like horses that roam around the countryside and if anybody gets in their way they run them down, kill them or injure them and they terrify everybody in the area. This is what happens when the person’s thoughts are out of control and not directed intelligently. They create great destruction and people begin to be afraid of what this person is going to come up with next and begin to avoid this person with these destructive thoughts. So this is symbolic of what the disciple must do for his first labor of Hercules. He must learn how to control his thoughts and his speech so they are harmless. Abduras, any idea what he represents?

Audience: I read it already, the personality.

JJ: He represents the lower personality and it takes the lower personality mingled with Hercules, the soul, working together. These two can round up the mares quite easily, which they both did. Then what happened is Hercules thought he had his unruly thoughts under his control so he thinks the soul is not really necessary to control this anymore, it is pretty automatic so he just let his personality handle it.

So his personality tries to handle things but without the energy of the soul his thoughts begin to get out of control again and start to trample whoever is in their way all over again. When the disciple realizes this, that his thoughts are out of control without the soul being there, then the soul has to return and master the situation again and this time make sure the soul is there when the horses are put back in the right pasture. Notice that when the effort was finished, the soul had to be there to bind the unruly and harmful thoughts so that they could no longer be released to destroy his family, friends, his best friend and terrorize the neighborhood and make everyone that came into contact with him feel uncomfortable. People wonder, what is this guy going to say next and have you ever met someone like this? What kind of harmful thought, statement or phrase is he going to come up with next?

Audience: The personality does not actually die does it?

JJ: The personality has the harmful thoughts that are out of control. It does not die per say but that part of the personality that allows the thoughts to be unregulated – that eventually dies and the soul has to dominate. In other words, Hercules had the idea that the lower self could pretty much handle this and when he found out that it could not – that lower self had to be taken out of the way or dead to the situation. He found out that these unruly thoughts had to be taken out and that they can’t be turned over to the lower self. It does not mean that the lower self is gone completely but the lower self lacks control without the help of soul.

Audience: So this was handled badly?

JJ: Yes it was handled badly.

Audience: so was the personality not supposed to die?

JJ: Ideally if it was handled correctly the personality and the soul work together as one. Now it still does this in the end but Hercules turned it over to the personality completely and the personality had no control over the situation at all. So Hercules, or the soul, came back and the soul dominated and the soul had to dominate completely because now the thoughts were even more out of control than ever before.

They were even worse than they were before they herded them in the first time so the soul had to really amplify its power and dominate. If he had done the labor correctly there would have been more of a balance between the soul and the personality. It was interesting that the teacher said that it was badly done but at least it got done. He will fine-tune this as he moves on and even though it was badly done the lesson was learned.

This happens to us in our own lives as we perform our own labors of Hercules where we learn our lessons. Often the greatest lessons we learn are from a labor badly done and I know that is the case in my life. Some of the times that I have learned the most are when I have bungled the most.

I think one of the biggest mistakes that people make is when an employer or somebody gives someone a job to do and they bungle it completely and they have devastated themselves because they did not do it correctly. The guy who gave them the job says, well you screwed up so I am giving it to Smith over here. He should not do that because this guy has learned a lesson that Smith has not yet learned and he is not going to make that mistake again because it is ingrained in his mind.

When I am in charge of anything and somebody has done that I give them another chance because I know this guy has learned an important lesson and you can tell by his attitude whether it has really sunk in. Now if he is really apologetic and feels bad and wishes he had it to do over again then give it to him to over again. He is much more likely to succeed than the guy without that experience because we learn by our failures and this is what a lot of bosses and people do not realize.

They think if you fail then they will get someone else that won’t fail. Well they will probably fail as well and failure is part of the learning process, as long as you accept the failure and want to improve on it. There are people that you may hire that are happy to fail and do not care of they do fail. These are the type of people you do not want to give a job but if they fail and if they really understand the repercussions of the failure and want to succeed next time then this is the guy you should have to do the labor.

I read an interesting account about a company that spent $200,000 training this guy and then after they spent the money he underwent a tremendous failure. Then the boss gave him another chance and another guy comes up to him and says, why do that, the guy failed? And he says, well we spent $200,000 training this guy and I am not going to throw $200,000 away! And he has learned the lesson and he is ready. And that is what they would have done – they would have thrown $200,000 away on somebody that has learned his lesson.

McCall Gathering 2007, Part 33

This entry is part 33 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

The Disciple Prepares

JJ: Fortunately a lot of the ones that we know are only half way mad like on Susan’s list. They usually only have one or two followers so they are limited in the amount of harm they can cause

Audience: So JJ, are you saying that everyone who taps into spiritual energy goes through a period of madness?

JJ: When they first tap into it, yes. When this happens people go mad in different ways and like I said the madness that I have personally seen from the people I have taught hasn’t been over the edge. They have not gone out and killed anybody but they have still gone kind of mad.

Audience: JJ as a group can we go through these because we were talking about when we first connected as group and we all went a little mad. We all wanted to get together and live in the same city and work together and so on and now of course we realize that we all lives and must continue on our present path. Can we talk about this?

JJ: Well when you first get a taste of the spiritual energy you naturally want to be with others that are like yourself which is normal but it is like Isaiah says, “He that believeth shall not make haste” and like Annie said yesterday, “make haste slowly” so to speak. The Tibetan says that the tortoise beats the hare every time. That is because the hare gets all excited and jumps up and down, and the tortoise proceeds slowly towards the goal and does not stop and he gets to the finish line and always wins the race. So the nuts and bolts person who applies the practical solutions moves ahead slowly and will eventually get there before the excited hare will get there.

The next thing Hercules did before he began his journey is he killed all of his teachers. This is symbolic again in the fact that we were saying yesterday that the person in the Ephesus stage that begins his journey finds that those who were his teachers and apostles proved to be liars and so he discontinued their association. In other words, he killed their association with him.

The disciple learns this – he finds that the people he thought who were teaching him the truth in fact were not teaching him the truth so he eliminated them from his life and this is what the disciple has to do. If he has a priest, prophet, teacher, king or whatever that is misleading him then he must find those that are misleading him and cut him self off from them. It does not say in here that he eliminates all teachers because throughout the whole book the presiding one so always has true teachers available for Hercules.

For every one true teacher there are many false teachers that Hercules has to discover and eliminate from his life. What you have to do is eliminate your relationship with false teachers and what that means is that you do let their teachings permeate you so they do not have a negative influence on you. It is impossible to shield yourself from all false teachings out there because you turn on the TV or radio, open a book or read the paper or the internet and there they are, but you do not let them have any negative influence on you and you no longer have the god outside of you and you only the God within guiding you.

Audience: I think of this scripture a lot, “when I was a child I spoke as a child and when I became a man I put away childish things.” I think that there are some teachers that are there for a child level work, an astral level that eventually you just out grow them and it is not that they are necessarily a false teacher, they are just a lower level teacher teaching a principle that once is learned then it is time to go on to higher principle.

JJ: There is a lot of truth in that too but then when you want to progress unlike in kindergarten, when it comes time to graduate and move to the first grade in real life the teacher says okay it is great that you are moving on, but often in the spiritual arena the teacher does not want you to move on. He wants you to stay there so he can continue to have power over you and so you have to break away from him. So there is a correspondence to what you are saying but then there is that other area where you have to actually free yourself from the teacher. For instance the Mormon Church never said to you, well you have learned everything in Mormonism why don’t you go on to the greater mysteries.

Audience: I did have a teacher like that; he said that if people were following him too long then he would tell them to do outrageous things to make them mad so that they would move on.

JJ: Was he still a good member of the church?

Audience: Absolutely not!

JJ: Okay, what I am saying is that the Mormon Church does not tell that but you had a good teacher and that is a sign that he was a true teacher.

Audience: I always got the feeling that those who are in a seat of spiritual authority that they would like to kill those who do not believe.

JJ: Yes a lot of them still would if it were legal and this is one of the reasons I think that so many people are terrified of the religious people gaining control even though right now they do not have much control. I think people fear them because in past lives these people might have just burned a lot of these guys at the stake and if you are burned to death at the stake for being a heretic and religious people put you death in a painful way and you have come back then you are probably pretty nervous about religious people gaining authority again. You will notice that there are quite a few people that are really nervous about any religious people getting any kind of power in the government and that is probably why – because of past life memories of what was done to them.

Audience: Isn’t Romney running for president this year?

JJ: Yes he is.

So the gods get together and say to Hercules that they are going to help him as much as possible. While he goes through these labors they are going to give him some gifts. So they give him a bunch of gifts, Minerva gave him a robe and it is a symbol of like the mantel of Elijah. Remember when Elijah left he gave his mantel to Elisha, and he said I want the spirit and power from me rest upon you, and Elijah said “I will let my mantel fall upon you.”

Minerva is doing the same thing and letting his mantel fall upon Hercules and give him additional power to do his works. Vulcan came and gave him a golden breastplate symbolizing spiritual power, Neptune came and gave him twin horses which gave him power to control his emotions and his thoughts and his impulses, Mercury came and gave him a sword of rare design. The sword is a symbol of the mind, the power to think and reason.

Apollo came to him and gave him a bow of light. The bow of light symbolizes the capacity to shoot straight to the target, to go straight towards the goal and shoot straight to the heart so to speak.

So Hercules was given all these gifts and he says, I do not feel comfortable taking all these gifts so he sheds them all and goes out into the woods and he finds a living tree. He fashions himself a club of it and he comes back and says, I feel comfortable with this club. I am going to take this club and go and do the mighty deeds with this.

So the gods say that these gifts will be there when you need them. Now this is symbolic of when the disciple begins his deeds he has all of the gifts of the gods. He has all the qualities of the soul within him. He has all these abilities and he does not really believe that he is ready for them and he does not really believe that he can tap into them so instead he gets a blunt club that he fashions with his own hands and is comfortable with this.

We know how to use this club and we start with our club to go do these great deeds that we have to do rather than use these fine tools given to us of the gods but by the time we are done with the labors we know how to use all the tools. But when we begin the labors we are uncomfortable because we think that we are just regular people not capable of getting a great revelation or doing these great deeds.

Unless we are very powerful in the ego we all like to think of ourselves as regular people. This is what Hercules thought as well – that he was just a regular guy and he just wanted to use something he was familiar with. You take an old person who has never been on the computer and put them on the Internet and they would just be all thumbs and say I can never use this. It takes a while for them to get used to the new tools and this is the way we are. We have been using the same tools for hundreds of lifetimes and now finally we begin the labors of Hercules as a disciple and the soul begins to open up and we have all these tools at our disposal. The oneness principle that is out there and all the powers of Godliness are available to us and we are afraid to use them or we do not feel worthy to use them or we don’t feel we have enough skill to use them.

There is deception here. Hercules could have used them earlier but he did not because he went with what he was comfortable with. But the disciple has to start somewhere so he said, give me great deeds to do, I want to go forth! He was eager to go and do great deeds and he said, when you give me these great deeds, I would show you what I can do; I will show you great things. So even though he was hesitant to use the great tools he was confident that he was going to do these great deeds, and he did and he didn’t. Sometimes he screwed up and sometimes he performed well.

Descent into Madness

JJ: Now it is a common thing among Christians to say, God picks the humble people in the field who do not know anything and He sends them out to accomplish great things. Usually when that happens it is most likely somebody who is very skilled in many areas from past lives and he is just in a humble state. If you examine the great people that came from humble back rounds, like say like Abraham Lincoln for instance, you find that they have great minds. I know when one person came to interview Lincoln and as I told you before the New York Times and all the papers just hated the guy and portrayed him as an ape and things like this.

Well a reporter came to visit him one time and Lincoln was explaining to him that he liked to go to plays and the reporter asked him what one of his favorite plays was, I cannot remember the name of it but it was by Shakespeare. Lincoln quoted him two or three pages, word for word from one of the plays from Shakespeare and the guy was just amazed and astounded and very impressed because he was under the impression that Lincoln was not that bright. People under estimated Lincoln. He was very well educated but self taught and memorized a lot of things and not only things of culture like Shakespeare but he had a repertoire of stories you would not believe.

He had stories about everything. He collected stories and whenever he would get together in a room with people he would say, that reminds me of a story and he would tell some type of story that would bring his point home. The stories were powerful because people can understand them, especially a story with humor behind it. There is no better way to destroy your enemies than to make them look silly and Lincoln had the capacity to do that.

So the true disciples of the world, when you examine them, are very intelligent and learned in their own way. Many of them are not educated in the normal way but are well educated.

Lincoln did not go to a regular school. He mostly educated himself and he had an enormous grasp of knowledge in many different areas that surprised his enemies. Back then all they had was the more elementary communication, not like today where have information at our fingertips.

So all they knew about Lincoln was what they read in the papers and they also had these little paperback rags that were like mini National Enquirers of that day with stories that were circulated about him and other people famous people. Some of it was true and some of it was not. You never knew what was true and what was false back in that day. It is easier to find the truth today. There are a lot more untruths put out but the seeker today can find the truth on the Internet or through other sources if he is willing to look. Unfortunately most people are lazy and if a lot of propaganda bombards them most will just believe it. The few who seek, however, can discover the truth if they s o desire.

Audience: Was Lincoln a walk in where a Master uses his body to do work here with mankind?

JJ: I mentioned that yesterday that I really think he was a walk in. If we have enough time later I will go into this more but for now I would like to cover the labors.

It is also said that Hercules killed a lion when he was young and he wore the lion’s skin throughout his entire life until he slew the Nemean lion. The lion skin represents the personality so he kept the personality within him even though he was functioning as a disciple. He did not destroy the personality but he wore it on him so to speak.

Another story about Hercules is kind of interesting we are told that he went mad for a period of time and killed those he loved. This is symbolic of the disciple when he gets some spiritual energy before he performed the labors when he was aspiring to become a disciple. He points out that when a charge of spiritual energy goes into someone that is unprepared for it, especially when they get it for the first time, that they have hard time handling it and drives them somewhat mad.

I have seen this happen in a number of people that I have even personally taught. You teach them and they get very enthused and then they get wild eyed and get the weirdest ideas you have ever heard of. Fortunately I have not had anybody go and kill his or her family! But what they will do is symbolically kill their family in the fact that they will alienate their family and also their friends because they go a little mad and get some wild-eyed ideas.

For instance I have noticed that when I have taught reincarnation to people that did not know about it earlier and when I teach it to them they get very enthused about it and then not long after they begin to wonder who they were. At first they think they could have been a follower of say Moses or Jesus or maybe they were one of the twelve apostles and then a little bit later some begin to think that maybe they were actually Jesus and next they think maybe they were actually the God of Jesus and they just keep going higher and higher!

Audience: Chuckling

JJ: One guy I taught thinks he is the god of the galaxy and I have not seen him for a while and he probably thinks he is the god of the universe by now. Where he goes from there I do not know but he just keeps going higher and higher. It is amazing how the ego takes over.

Some of these people I have taught in the past definitely had a flow of spiritual energy come to them and they knew that certain things were true and then they turned to madness. Just like Hercules when he received a little spiritual energy he went insane for a period of time.

This often happens to the beginning disciple and he expands into illusion. If he has the ego there then that ego begins to expand the illusion from being a humble guy to a disciple to an apostle to Jesus, to Christ to the god of the world and so on. Some people go the other direction in illusion and think he was Hitler, or the devil and so on because some people have fantasies about being a super bad guy. Then other people have fantasies about being the super good guy.

One of the greatest statements that DK said is this, “True humility is recognizing where you are on the path and acting accordingly.” Once we can do this then we have made a major step in our progression. Almost everybody either thinks they are farther along the path then they are or farther back on the path.

Audience: I think a lot of that comes from if you touch your soul and realize that it is truly grandiose that if affects people in that way because you do touch on greatness and then the personality thinks that it must be great.

JJ: That could be part of it. It is interesting on Susan’s and Sterling’s list that a lot of them think they were somebody great in the past. There is a really big competition there and the problem is these people that are on the forum are ex-Mormons and ex-Mormons are a very unusual bunch. Many have very powerful egos.

Now in the Mormon Church there is a prophecy of one mighty and strong that will come forth and set the kingdom of God in order. After many of them are ex-communicated they think that they must the one that is mighty and strong because the church did not see things their way so they need to set the church in order and be like a Moses.

I have not met one of them that are mighty or strong in any possible way. Most of them have maybe two followers at the most and they all seem to gravitate towards this list that Susan and Sterling have for the ex-Mormons that want to struggle and receive more light.

Some of the people post some interesting things on there but much of it is competition to see who is the one mighty and strong or who is the god of the world or who is the new Jesus. They seem to go back and forth trying to make claims that they are the new mighty and strong one.

This one guy has an interesting story. He does not believe in reincarnation but he believes he is a time traveler and he thinks that he, is all the great people in history, and he fluctuates from one life to the other. He was Adam, Elijah, Moses, the Holy Spirit incarnate, Michael and others. We are all supposed to submit to him and no one does so he is angry and has condemned all of us to hell because he is god and has the authority to do it.

He condemned me to be a son of perdition after I asked him a few questions. He said I have never done this to anyone before but you are denying the Holy Spirit because I am the holy spirit and you are condemned to be a son of perdition for eternity. I thought Ohhh, you scare me so much! Laughing!

Audience: Laughing!

JJ: there are strange people out there. I have encountered other people who want me to be there spokesman because they say they are Moses. Then there are people like Jim Jones who had everybody drink the poison Kool-Aid and David Koresh who withstood the FBI and what he thought was Armageddon and all these things happened because once a person becomes tapped into a bit of spiritual energy the Herculean person goes through a period of madness for a period of time. If he has a whole bunch of people under his control then those people are in danger.

McCall Gathering 2007, Part 31

This entry is part 31 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

Qualifying for the Work

JJ: I am going to start out by reading a statement where the Labors of Hercules is introduced here. The words are very profound so rather than paraphrase them I am going to actually read them word for word.

The Presiding One looked forth upon the sons of men, who are the Sons of God. He saw their light and where they stood upon the Way which leads back to the Heart of God. The Way sweeps in a circle through the twelve great Gates, and, cycle after cycle, the Gates are opened and the Gates are shut. The Sons of God, who are the sons of men, march on.

Dim is the light at first. Selfish the trend of human aspiration, and dark the deeds resultant. Slowly men learn and, in learning, pass between the pillars of the Gates time and again. Dull is the understanding but in the Halls of Discipline, found in each section of the circle’s cosmic sweep, the truth is slowly grasped; the needed lesson learnt; the nature purified and taught until the Cross is seen – that fixed and waiting Cross which crucifies the sons of men, stretched out on the Crosses of those who serve and save.

From out the mass of men, one man stood forth in ancient days and caught the great presiding Elder’s watching eye, he who eternally presides within the Council Chamber of the Lord. He turned to one who stood, close at his hand, and said: “Who is that soul upon the Way of life, whose light can now be dimly seen?”

Quickly the answer came: “That is the soul who, on the Way of life, experiences and seeks the clear light which shines from the High Place.”

Let him proceed upon his way, but watch his steps.”

The swiftly passing aeons ran their course. The great wheel turned and, turning, brought the seeking soul upon the Way. Later, there came a day when the Presiding One, within the Council Chamber of the Lord, again drew to the circle of his radiant life the seeking soul.

Whose is this soul upon the Way of high endeavor whose radiance dimly shineth forth?” Came the reply: “A soul who seeks the light of understanding, a struggling soul.”

Tell him from me to return the other way and then to travel round the circle. Then will he find the object of his search.

JJ: In other words, he is saying that we all go clockwise around the Zodiac and the presiding one says, tell him to turn the other way and go on the path least traveled by and then he will find the object of his search.

Continuing with the reading of the page:

Watch o’er his steps and, when he has an understanding heart, an eager mind and skillful hand, bring him to me.”

Again the centuries passed. The great wheel turned and turning, carried all the sons of men, who are the Sons of God upon their way. And as these centuries passed, a group of men emerged who slowly turned the other way. They found the Way. They passed the Gates and struggled towards the mountain top, and towards the place of death and sacrifice. The watching Teacher saw a man emerge from out this crowd, mount the fixed Cross, demanding deeds to do, service to render unto God and man, and willingness to travel the Way to God. He stood before the great Presiding One who works within the Council Chamber of the Lord and heard a word go forth:

“Obey the Teacher on the Way. Prepare for the last tests. Pass through each Gate and in the sphere which they reveal and guard, perform the labor which befits their sphere. Learn thus the lesson and begin with love to serve the men of earth.” Then to the Teacher went the final word: “Prepare the candidate. Give him his labors to perform and place his name upon the tablets of the living Way.”

JJ: Djwhal Khul wrote those words and He gave the interpretations to the first six of the labors and then Alice A. Bailey died before they were able to complete the last six. So “The Labors of Hercules’ is incomplete. Students of Alice A. Bailey finished them up but they were not nearly as good with the interpretation, but the introduction of each one was written by DK I believe through Alice A. Bailey.

Audience: Why didn’t they run it through AAB’s husband?

JJ: Because Alice A. Bailey had a mind that was trained for mental telepathy in past lives and not everybody is capable of receiving mental telepathy.

Audience: Would it have been wrong in a karmic sense if he just materialized it?

JJ: Well to begin with DK said that He was not going to speak again until 2025. Alice A. Bailey has been specifically trained in past lives for the mission she had at this time and she was sensitive to His mind. DK mentioned that she was a rare disciple who was capable of doing this type of work and not too many people are capable of accurately transcribing from the mind of a Master according to DK.

Audience: That is kind of a sexist remark. Why did the communication have to be through a female instead of her husband? I think that is what everybody in this room is wondering.

JJ: Females are better at receiving than males.

Audience: I think she was saying that – why didn’t her husband finish the work.

JJ: Females are usually used for this type of work because the female energy is more receiving and male energy is more sending so in this type of work you have a male energy doing the sending and a female energy doing the receiving. Every once in a while a male will be receiving and a female will be sending but the line of least resistance in this way is for the females to be receiving. You notice that another great receiver was Madam Blavatsky and she was in the female gender. Now in her past life she was Count Cagliostro and as a male she completely bungled her job. She went away from what she was supposed to do and maybe that is why the Masters had her put in a female body in her next life so she could be a better receiver.

In her life before that she had a mission to do and she did not do it properly because she did not receive properly as a man so this may have been why she had been born as the female Madame Blavatsky. It was probably a sacrifice too because she was not a very attractive female. If you look at my web page on this you’ll see that I believe John F. Kennedy was the reincarnation of Madame Blavatsky and when you look at their pictures their faces are very similar but JFK is a very handsome guy. But when you place JFK’s face on Madame Blavatsky it does not look so great as a female.  It is interesting to think about.

So Hercules is given these great labors to do and as he begins them the gods all gather together to kind of give him a bit of assistance and first of all they ask him about his life and he tells them his name is Hercules. Does anyone know what the name Hercules means?

Audience: The glory of one?

JJ: It is said to mean, “Hera’s rare Glory.” Hera means the soul, so the Glory of the Soul is what the name Hercules means. Remember in ancient times they gave the person the name that signifies what he is to become. So the destiny of Hercules the disciple was to show humanity what the power of the soul, can do.

In each age there is a Herculean person that comes forth to show the possibilities of men. In a forgotten age there was a real Hercules. We do not have an actual historical record and much of what is written here is symbolic. Whether or not he did all twelve labors in one life we do not know but according to DK there was an actual disciple named Hercules and his mission was to reveal the ideal disciple.

Then we have other great leaders in history like Krishna, Buddha, The Christ, and Moses. Moses was like the Avatar of the age of Aries, Jesus was the Avatar of the age of Pisces and so on. Hercules was the Avatar of an age past.

So they quiz him about himself and they find out what his name means and he explains that he had a divine father – he is half man and half god, so he symbolizes humanity. All of us are part human and part god. The trouble with us is that we only see our human side not our God side.

Hercules’ mission was to demonstrate that we have both. We are human and we make mistakes, but we also have God in us and using the God principle, great deeds can be done.

Hercules says when he was an infant he was actually a twin but he killed his twin brother. What this symbolizes is that he had a dual nature, the soul and the personality. He subdued his personality and he focused his concentration on the soul.

Next we are also told that he killed two serpents. Now there are three serpents all together. One is called the serpent of matter; the second is called the serpent of illusion and the third is called the serpent of wisdom. He killed two of them – the serpent of matter and the serpent of illusion which; keeps us from being true disciples, but he kept the serpent of wisdom.

He also says he is accomplished in all fields. He says:

“I am proficient, I am well taught, well trained, well guided and well known. All books I know, all arts and sciences as well, the labors of the open field are known to me. Besides the skill of those who can afford to travel to know men I know myself as one who thinks, feels and lives.”

As Hercules grew up we are told that great care was given to his education, he was trained in all the accomplishments and every faculty that he had was developed and organized. In other words, this is one of the qualities that a disciple must accumulate before he can undergo the labor of Hercules. He develops all his skills and he is very well rounded, he says he knows science, math, he has worked in the fields, well educated and he is a tool in the hands of the masters that can be of use.

McCall Gathering 2007 Part 30

This entry is part 30 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

The 12 Labors of Hercules

JJ: Today we are going to teaching about the Labors of Hercules. The principle behind these labors is this, The Labors of Hercules are twelve labors where the disciple has to go against the grain and contrary to where the everyday normal, regular person would go. In other words in each one of the labors there is a tremendously difficult job to be done and many say or think, “I can’t do it, my neighbor can’t do it, no one in the city can do it. It would be nice if some great Herculean or Messiah type person who would come forward and he would do the labor for us.

The everyday person feels that he cannot do this labor. He does not think he is equipped for it and he does not want to do it so he follows the path of least resistance. In the labor of Leo, for instance, the Nemean lion  is very dangerous and will eat anybody that crosses his path. He threatens the whole area. Everybody hides from the lion and nobody thinks, “why don’t I just go wrestle the lion and kill it?”

Nobody thinks this and it is entirely against the grain of everyone’s thought where this lion is terrorizing the community. And of course when Hercules comes along he does not even think of cowering to the lion. His only thought is how to destroy it and get the people out of harms way.

The basic teaching is this, we live many lives, and I believe it is about a thousand, within the system that we are in and during almost all the lives we follow the path of least resistance, learning through trial and error.

Our individual progress seems to correspond to humanity, Look at the beginning of recorded civilization, that which we know about, which was about six thousand years ago. We believe before this that were many other ancient people that lived on the earth but we will stick with what we know for sure. Through trial and error we invented fire, the wheel and all that and progress was really, really slow, and then around the14th, 15th, 16th, centuries progress increased. Finally just over 100 years ago all of a sudden we had an explosion of knowledge take place until we got to say 1930 or thereabouts. Then knowledge began to expand even more. About 95% of our technical progress has been made in the last 120 years and about 50% of that progress was made in the last 60 years or so.

It is amazing how we have just had an explosion of knowledge. This is similar to the way it is in the life of the disciple. He plods along and discovers the fire within and the wheels of life and progress is really slow and it is all by trial and error. Progress is mostly by accident or great need which causes him to discover a little principle here and a little esoteric knowledge there and he discovers that in his elemental lives maybe he will not be such a thief, or quite so cruel or maybe begin to treat those around him a little better. The basic principles takes hundred of lives to drum into his head. Just like in humanity it took thousands of years to just get the basics of civilization down to where we could live half way comfortably.

I know this is kind of uncomfortable thing to talk about but a hundred years ago we did not even have good toilet paper. I remember when I was a child half the time we had to use the Sears or Montgomery Ward catalogs. And what they did before Sears catalog I do not know. I wondered about what they did in ancient times and then I was watching the Discovery channel and they had a show about the ancient Roman bathrooms. If you a were rich you had a personal sponge that you carried around with you and after you used it you rinsed it off and you put it in your little case and if you were not rich then I do not know what they used and I do not even want to think about it!

Look how much better off we are today than the rich Romans or kings. We eat better now than a king ate 200 years ago. This is amazing when you think about it. I have been going through “The History of Civilization” by Will Durant and what those people went through in the old days is amazing and it is also amazing that when someone disagreed with another and they were the one in authority the other guy got tortured in some way like, burned with fire, pulled apart, molten lead poured down his throat, his appendages cut off or worse. Those guys had no mercy for each.

People read in the Bible about ancient times and say, boy those people in the Bible were not all that righteous – look what they did. If you look at the Hebrews and they seem kind of cruel by today’s standards but then you read in ancient history about the people that lived outside the Hebrews and they made the Hebrews look really good in comparison. So you have to look everything in perspective for the Hebrews were a notch above the rest of civilization on how they treated their enemies. At least they had the Ten Commandments to use as guideline and not kill each other in very brutal ways.

They had some freedom of thought but the everyday kings and tyrants that ruled the earth in ancient times were extremely cruel. So we have made a lot of progress since then and, like I mentioned earlier, everything is learned by trial and error and pain. Just like it took us a tremendous amount of pain as a civilization to get away from torturing each other in very cruel ways. Finally in most of the civilized world we do not routinely torture each other.

You have heard some say that at Guantanamo we are torturing those guys and one of the ways they feel like they are tortured is the female cadets there reveal the outline of their breasts too much and they say, Ah that is torturing me! That is one of the tortures I read about and I thought well, women could torture me all they want in ttat manner and that would be fine with me!

Audience: Laughing!

Audience female member: That is why today the women in India wear shawls so the men are not diverted from their attentions.

JJ: People today do not know what torture is. In North Korea and some other places those poor people there really have it bad if they step out of line. The average person is just trying to survive on grass and tree bark and things like that.

Some think waterboarding is terrible today but in the past kerosene and feces was used instead of clean water. I guarantee you’ll get no volunteers to undergo that type of waterboarding as we have now using water.

So the disciple progresses and as we incarnate we do so around the Zodiac. It is not a completely black and white thing but is the general principle. We incarnate around the Zodiac clockwise and then eventually as we get to the point to where we turn and tread the path with the most resistance, the path less traveled by as talked about the poet,.

As we go on the path less traveled by then our soul reverses us around the Zodiac and instead of going clockwise around the Zodiac, we are now going counterclockwise. So the Labors of Hercules go counterclockwise around the Zodiac beginning with Aries.

The Labors of Hercules covers twelve labors but I believe that many of them cover more than one life. For instance, in the labor where he finds the doe it says he passed through the gate numerous times until the doe got easier to find and the doe learned who he was and became close to his heart. We will tell you what the doe is as we proceed.

So especially in certain signs the disciple may want to go and visit again and again to make sure he is very strong in that particular labor. Whether or not the people in this class are undergoing the Labors of Hercules, it matters not because the principles that allowed Hercules to accomplish these labors can be used by any of us and gives many of us motivation, learning and tools to deal with our lives. Forget about wondering if any of us in this room are under going the Labors of Hercules, or are disciples of that quality. We can all use the tools that Hercules used during the labors even if we are a long way from being like Hercules.

McCall Gathering, 2007, Part 29

This entry is part 29 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

The Power of Emotion

JJ: That is a good one. What I think is funny is they say that we need get more money and tax you more for more welfare because Jesus told us to help the poor. Now where does it say in the Bible that we are supposed to give to Rome and then Rome will give to its citizens? Did Christ say that? As a matter of fact Jesus did not even pay his taxes and they came after Him and told one of His disciples that his master has not paid any taxes to Rome and he had to do something about it.

So the disciple came to Jesus and told Him that they were after Him for taxes and it is one of the most unusual miracles in the Bible, Jesus sent Peter fishing and He said go and throw a line in a certain spot and you will catch a certain fish and there will be money in it to pay the taxes. So Peter went fishing caught this fish and opened him up and sure enough, there was the exact amount needed to pay His taxes!

I wish I could pay my taxes that way that would be great! So they had to go after Jesus and pester Him to pay taxes yet Rome had a welfare system to help the impoverished so long as you were a citizen of Rome. Those who were not citizens of Rome did not get any help. So, it’s interesting that Rome actually had a welfare system that was similar to ours and not as bureaucratic probably but they had one. If we are supposed to increase our taxes to pay for handouts and that is the work of Jesus, well then why didn’t Jesus tell us to give to Rome?

All he said was render the things under Caesar that are Caesar’s and render under God the things that are God’s. But He said to take your money and give it to whom? Give it to the poor. He didn’t say to give it to Rome and then have them give it to their poor, but to take your money and give it directly to the poor.

It takes our government three or four dollars to give one dollar to the poor. If you want to give some money to the poor is it not better to give to them directly from your pocket to their pocket? How about going down to the homeless shelter where they have little overhead and giving some of your money to them? If we give it to the government to give it to the poor, almost all of it goes to bureaucrats.

So we have a mislabeling here created that certainly gives a misconception that sounds positive but is really negative. There are quite a few labels that politicians use to make something negative sound good because they support it by applying a label to it. Okay anything else?

Audience Annie: You can trust the White Brothers but you can’t trust the dark brothers because they will lie to you as they deem it necessary.

JJ: Right, the Light Brothers are honest and the dark brothers are dishonest and they will lie to you and never tell you exactly what they believe and what they think. You cannot tell what they believe by listening to them. They will tell you what they believe is necessary to get them elected or gain your trust. The same thing for other professions they control – if they are the head of a union or a teachers group or a business, those who are gravitating toward the dark path will not tell you what they really believe or what their true intentions are. They will tell you what you want you to hear and this makes it difficult because of the deception in the dark where they are always pretending to be in the light. It is hard to tell the difference.

Sometimes I will listen to a debate where I think one side is honestly trying to present a true reality and the other giving what I see as tremendous distortion. Then I talk to people about it and they say, “I listened to both and they both made really good arguments and I just can’t figure out which one is closest to the truth.”

I think wow; it is so obvious to me and why is it not obvious to them that this one guy is just totally lying through his teeth? He just cannot see the deception of the one that is trying to lead him down the garden path. He just cannot see it. Just like the people could not see with Hitler and they could not see it with Mussolini and they could not see it with many other deceptive leaders in the past. They have a really hard time seeing through the lies and distortion.

What is the fastest way to distinguish between light and dark?

Audience: The soul

JJ: Right soul contact if you have soul contact and someone is up there speaking and he says that the this guy is part of the dark organization or whatever, when you have soul contact then you can tune into this person’s soul and he may not be perfect but you can tell whether the person has pure intent or not and that is very important.

Audience: I would like to say the dark uses emotional arguments and the light uses logic to make their arguments.

JJ: Right, that is true. The dark almost always appeals to the emotions and one of the things that DK says is, one of the plans of the Brotherhood of Light is to move evil up to a higher level. That is an interesting thing to say. The Piscean age was governed by the emotions and we are entering the Aquarian Age, which is an air sign governed by the mind. So what is going to happen over the next two hundred years is all the arguments are going to be moved up to the plane of the mind.

For instance, any sales course you take right now will teach you that people buy by what they feel and if you try to sell them by reasoning then you are not going to make the sale. You have to sell them by what they are feeling. You have to make them feel good about the product. I have found after being a salesman for many years myself that if you try to use reasoning with them maybe one out of ten or fewer people are  influenced by logic and reasoning but for nine out of ten you must strike their feelings right at the core and then they will buy whether they need it or not, it does not matter.

I used to sell children’s books, Wayne was selling them before me and he sent me a sales kit and I went out and I thought the people that should buy these books logically would be parents with kids six years and older. So I went through neighborhoods and looked for bicycles that revealed the kids were in this age range. I struggled for two weeks and only sold one set of books.

Wayne was out of town and when he had returned and he asked if I sold any books. And I said just one set that this was one of the most difficult jobs I ever attempted. I did not understand it – nobody wanted the books. Wayne said who are you trying to sell to? And I told him and he said you have it all wrong – follow me. He took me with him prospecting and everybody that we contacted had a baby six months old or less or was pregnant. I said, they will not buy the books – and he said yes they will.

He then gives a presentation to a pregnant woman who had not even had her baby yet and her kid would not be able to read these books for ten more years. They would be out of date by that time but he would throw the huge broadside pictures on the floor and they would say, our baby could really use this and this is great. Then he would give emotional arguments and they would say, we can’t afford it but our baby is going to need this.

I’ll tell you, I was just flabbergasted that the people that would buy the books for kids that couldn’t read ten for another decade. Those people that really needed the books for their kids that were old enough to read, none of them would buy the books. But the people that were pregnant or had a six month old child or less we sold them over 50% and the only ones that did not buy the books were those that did not have a dime to buy a cup of coffee with. I mean if they had any money at all – by the end of that sales presentation they would be buying the books and I was just amazed by this.

I would have never dreamed that those were the people who would buy the books but they bought them because they felt that their child was going to need everything possible to make sure they were taken care of in the future. But for some reason after the child learns to read all that goes out the window. Emotions are very important and if you are going to make a living at being a salesperson then you have to appeal to people’s emotions.

Audience: Sell the sizzle and not the steak.

JJ: Yes, sell the sizzle and not the steak. Elmer Wheeler made that statement and he is one of my favorite authors on salesmanship. He wrote this book, “How to sell your self to others” and I cannot find it anywhere, it is really a good book, one of the best books I have ever read and he invented that slogan, “Sell the sizzle and not the steak.” It really inspired me when I was young and if you ever see it, you may want to read it.

Tomorrow we are going to talk about the labors of Hercules. This is one of the more fascinating subjects that we will ever learn about.

Other Differences in Light and Dark

Okay any other difference between light and dark?

Audience: Free will.

JJ: Yes, freedom, this is one of the big dividing ones. It is said that the war in Heaven where it talks about the war between Satan and God was fought over the principle of freedom. The side of Christ wanted to give free will to mankind and Satan wanted to keep it from mankind and control everybody because they would not be responsible and they could make a lot of mistakes with their own free will. His argument was that we will take away their free will and “I will assume command and I will make sure that none of the souls are lost or go down the wrong path and I will get all the glory.”

It is said that Christ said the opposite, He said we will give man free will and yes they will make mistakes but they will recover and they will learn on their own and I will be their teacher and give the glory to God and not take it upon myself.

The Father, or presiding One replied, “I will take the plan of The One who is to became Jesus, The Christ.” And so the legend has it that the struggle between having freedom and taking away freedom continues on the earth today and whether or not the legend is true is beside the point because what is true is that that struggle does exist right before our eyes today and yet, unfortunately, again every politician and every ruler in authority thinks that he or she is working for our freedom.

Now lets look at the most notorious guy in history. Do you think Hitler was fighting for freedom? He said this all the time, “I am fighting for the freedom of Germany, for your freedom and mine. He would say this regularly, but was he? No he was fighting so he could have control and tell the people what to do. In his warped mind he thought that once he got completely in charge of the world that he would lay out the rules and people would actually have more freedom. Actually, the only ones with more freedom would be the Nazi leaders.

The Brotherhood of Light teaches the principle of freedom and teaches it correctly. Such a teacher just does not say that I am going to give you freedom. The truth is that you cannot really give freedom to anybody. What the Brotherhood of Light does is they say I am not going to take your freedom away. The dark brother says I am going to change things and if you read between the lines you will find that he is going to take your freedom away and then in the next sentence he will say this is going to give you greater freedom. But this is a deception, what he does, he tells you it will give you greater freedom but it does not.

It is like what the politicians do with our taxes. They say, we are going to increase this tax here that is going to give you less freedom and less money to spend, less power over your own destiny, but we are going to give this benefit and the people that get this benefit will have a lot more freedom. The people that get the benefit are usually around 1% of the population of the country and the people that are going to get taxed are a 100% of the taxpayers of the country. So the amount of freedom taken away is much more than the freedom given.

The Light Brother will say that he is not going to take additional freedom away but “I am going to work to increase your freedom without taking anything away.” Freedom is a key word here because it is a key dividing point between the light and the dark. One thinks we need a good strong powerful central authority that is more intelligent than everybody else and can tell everyone what to do and set them in line, forcing them to do what is right. The side of Light trusts in the intelligence of the average person and wants to give them more control over their own destiny.

JJ: Okay what is the next difference between the Light and the dark.

Audience: Good and evil, the dark brothers want to take things back to a time where they have complete control and the Light Brothers want to move the human race forward.

JJ: Good! The Brotherhood of Light moves us forward in our progression. Again lets go back to Hitler, what did he want to do? Did he want to establish democracy on the earth? No, what did he want to establish?

Audience: The Empire.

JJ: The old Reich and the kingdom type government, the empire where you had a supreme commander telling everyone what to do and they had to do it or they would die. That is what he was working toward and that was going back in the past as far as government is concerned. He was also going back in the past with race. He was going for racial purity and was going to eliminate anyone who did not fit into his idea of a pure race. DK explains that this was also going back in the past that in the far distant past that this was what humanity actually tried to do. As a matter of fact if you even go back to the Old Testament you will read that they tried to keep all the races pure back then. So DK says that this time has past that Hitler was trying to return to the racial purity teachings of the past. The Light Brothers move forward.
What is another difference between the Light and the dark?

No answer.

I will give you one more that that is important, the Light Brothers are inclusive. On the other hand, Hitler was exclusive, he wanted to exclude the Jews, to eliminate them so we could cleanse the planet and have a fresh start, To the Brotherhood of Light, Jews are our brothers just like everybody else and we must treat them as equals. Blacks do not deserve to be slaves and, in other words, Abraham Lincoln represented inclusiveness because he worked towards the freedom of the slaves and uniting a nation. They include as many people as possible in whatever goal as part of the work of Light.

Okay anything else? I will tell you one thing, a trick that the dark brothers try and I will present their side. They work with labels and sound bites, and, in other words, they label people. This person is a hater and needs to be put down and silenced, they say. They will use labels and instead of saying, we disagree with this person and lay down a logical argument of why he is wrong. This is what the Brotherhood of Light does – they use Light to correct the person if he is wrong, where if the dark brothers disagree with someone they will attach a label to him – he is a sinner, he is a reprobate, he is a republican, democrat, liberal, conservative or whatever.

They will use whatever label sounds bad. They will apply the label to them, like hater, stupid, uneducated. The New York Times used to call Abraham Lincoln an ape all the time. Bigot is currently used a lot, and racist is a big one. I see so many people called racist today that don’t show any evidence of being racist at all. I find this very irritating but these are labels that they use and circulate them and if it gets circulated enough many believe them.

Hitler used to use this method of attack; he would label the Jews as being part of a conspiracy as an excuse to take over all the wealth and also label them as an inferior race. I do not remember all the labels but he had a number of them that he applied to the Jews and he operated on the idea that if you stick a lie on somebody long enough then the general public would soon accept it as the truth.

When Hitler became chancellor of Germany only a handful of people hated the Jews, not too many at all, but because he labeled them like this and no one really countered his argument then pretty soon the majority in Germany began to be affected by that label and began to feel good about persecuting the Jews.

Audience: Labels can also be used to put a positive label on something to further the agenda.

JJ: That is a good point also can you think of an example?

Audience: Like the whole green movement for instance.

McCall Gathering, 2007, Part 27

This entry is part 27 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

Humor and Unselfishness

JJ: What are some of the other distinctions between the light and the dark?

Audience: The dark brothers are totally selfish and self-serving and the Brotherhood of Light is the exact opposite.

JJ: Light is selfless and dark selfish. Now, on the other hand, does the person who is selfish ever admit he is selfish? No it is like a maze trying to figure out who is who because they both say a lot of the same things. Not only will the dark brother talk about how selfless and virtuous and how much he has given to charity and how of this and that, that he has done but his acolytes will also praise him and say, oh Mr. Smith, he has done so much for the service of humanity. Maybe the guy is just totally selfish and what he has done with his selfishness is he has not given of himself but he has manipulated events and used other people’s money to buy the appearance of virtue. He will take other people’s money and build something with it and put his name on it and everyone will think that this guy gave us this bridge and he is a wonderful person.

There are politicians in Washington with dozens and dozens of buildings, monuments and bridges that are named after them and all they did was take other people’s money and buy it for us and it did not cost them one penny out their own pocket. As they take other people’s money to build the building to put their name on it they are increasing our taxes. If you want to look for the selfish politicians then I would look for the ones with the most buildings with their names on them.

The unselfish politicians will not care if a building has their name on it for what they care about is to get something done that will benefit this country and the people. You will find that this politician does not give a rat’s behind about whether or not a building has his name on it or not. I have found that the best politicians rarely have a building named after them until after they die and then somebody else does it for him.

Selfishness, the difficult part of all of these is the dark brother present himself as light like it says in the Bible – Satan himself presents himself as an angel of light. The selfish brother presents himself as altruistic and virtuous because he has managed to give his constituents all this stuff. I am a wonderful person because I give you this stuff, but he did not give it to us, he gave it to us with other people’s money.

When somebody says he will give you free stuff, I say that when they reach in their own pocket and pay for it with their own money then I think that is unselfish. If he did it with his own money, his own power and his own work and did it to benefit other people not using other people’s money then that is what I call unselfishness. So when a politician gets in an area of great influence and is able to buy stuff and put his name on buildings, bridges, libraries and such and get a lot of credit for being virtuous on other people’s hard work, I do not call this unselfish. I call it selfish because he is selfishly using other people’s money to build up his own ego.

Okay what other differences do we have?

Audience: I think the dark side is humorless and the light is joyful with humor.

JJ: Light side is joyful and has humor and dark is opposite. DK Himself points this out that the brotherhood of light has a good sense of humor and when you first begin to read his book you wonder if He has any sense of humor himself but once you get into it and study Him then you see some subtle little things he says which kind of make you chuckle every once in a while.

Take a look at Hitler, for instance. Whenever you see him talking he was so dead serious when he got up to speak with his body language and his voice, I can’t understand what he is saying and I would like to hear a clip where it is translated to see what he is actually saying. Every speech I have seen of Hitler, he sounds like he is mad at his dog or something. He sounds completely humorless and one of the things the allies did in World War II was they made fun of Hitler. They made jokes about him and made these films where they contorted Hitler and made him look like he was doing all this funny weird stuff and they would show the films in the theaters just to make fun of him and the whole audience would laugh and a lot people thought Hitler actually did this stuff. Hitler was manipulated in films to all kinds of crazy stuff like falling off of chairs and stuff like that. I am sure if Hitler ever knew about it that it probably really drove him crazy. It would be interesting for somebody to compile those old films, I have read about them but I have never actually seen them.

What is interesting between light and dark is that light has more than one meaning. In light we think of a light like this one right here but there is also light as in opposite of heavy. The dark brothers are heavy with their feelings and their thoughts are just sooo serious. The Brotherhood of Light is light in their thoughts and they are more carefree. Annie was something about how they go slow quickly. How was that worded Annie?

Annie: They hurry slowly.

JJ: They hurry slowly. In other words, the impression I got was that they have a deadline but they do not pursue the deadline with a state of hurriedness; they do it in a state of relaxation. Now often times when people have deadline it just drives them crazy and they get really nervous and uptight about it but the Brotherhood of light says, just relax, everything will be fine, concentrate and if you give yourself the right amount of time then you can pace yourself and be relaxed, move forward step by step and you can have your mission accomplished. Now the dark brothers are entirely different, it has to be done at a certain time or you die.

Audience: Laughter!

JJ: The mob is an extension of the dark brothers and you see these movies about them and what happens if the guy in the mob does not perform on time?

Audience: He gets whacked!

JJ: Yes, he gets hit over the head with a baseball bat or choked or shot or stabbed or tortured or fire placed under him or something crazy happens to the poor guy who does not perform or who does not get the good guy or whatever. So it is interesting how light applies in more ways than just brightness.

After Curtis and I were excommunicated we spent a number of times trying to enlighten the Mormons which is the hardest thing I have ever attempted in my life. We would go around and visit certain ones and the ones that bothered us the most we called them the squeaky clean ones. In other words, it looked like they had just got out of the shower and completely groomed no matter what time of day it was. The squeaky clean ones were always very serious and when we met with them and we presented what we thought were some of the problems in the church, they would talk to us like this, very slowly and in a deep voice, “Oh brother you know you are on dangerous ground here and you know that Satan has got a hold of you and that you can suffer very dark consequences if you continue upon this path.” They talk slowly deliberately and they are always squeaky clean. These types of guys really talk this way and they are washed, clean, groomed and I swear they have shaved within the past hour, all of them!

Audience: Laughing!

JJ: I always seem to have some stubble going on and I cannot get shaved like these squeaky clean ones. I found that interesting that I always found them to be in the squeaky clean category, now look at Dan over here, he would never fit in the squeaky clean category!

Audience: Laughter!

JJ: You look at him and he is mellow. He has an old T-shirt on and he is never really clean shaven entirely, and these are the type of guys that I find that I really trust a lot more than the ones who have that air of authority about them like, “I am in charge and I have authority here.” This type of guy is always rubbing me the wrong way.

Audience: I had a missionary come over to my house once and I could not get rid of him and I said you can excommunicate me please, please and then finally I said you ought to get laid and that did it he left after that.

JJ: If you want to get rid of them even faster give them my little booklet called Mormonism and Reincarnation. They will hold that in their hand like it is going to start on fire and they will get out of there really fast. Just say that you want to talk about it, for it has some scriptures proving that Joseph Smith believed in reincarnation.

It works with the Jehovah witnesses too. I use the Bible and Reincarnation with them. They come in and I say yes I have a little thing here that proves reincarnation in the Bible and I will take your literature and you take mine and they have the same reaction. It is like it is hot to their touch. It is funny during that time period that Curtis and I tried to enlighten the Mormons, we would give them some of our material and then come back and ask them if they read it. They would always give us the same answer and can you guess what that answer is?

Audience: No

JJ: What did they do with it, Curtis?

Curtis: Burned it.

JJ: Burned it. Nine times out of ten they would say that they burned it. And we would ask them, why did you burn it? They would say well somebody else could have got it out of the garbage and I did not want anybody to ever see that so we burned it. Even some of my family members told me that they burned some of my stuff. No they just did not throw it away they had to actually create a fire burn it to make sure no one would ever read it. It is amazing how many people told us that and it about blew us away and we would have never predicted that is what they would have done. But after it happened again and again we began not to be surprised when they told us that they burned our words and works.

Audience: There is a spiritual open house in New York City and I got off the subway and here was some kind of weird Christian fundamentalist group and he talked about energy pulses confirming something about the Virgin Mary and said well that is interesting, here is a spiritual event that is coming up and within two seconds after I handed him the pamphlet he was crumbling it up and throwing it away.

JJ: I can imagine, at a family reunion a while back I gave a copy of the Immortal to Curtis’s brother who was still in the Mormon Church and he did not want to refuse it because he did not want to hurt my feelings but he just could not hold it steady in his hand. It was like it was warm or hot in his hand or something. Strange.

When I visit my family members and look in their library the Immortal is never there even though I have given them all a copy. It is funny that how a message of light for those who are in darkness is very difficult for them to handle. It is like in the election of Abraham Lincoln for instance. We all acknowledge now he was a great Avatar and liberator, and most historians think he was our greatest president. But when he was elected the South was repulsed by him. They had heard the Lincoln and Douglas debate where he said, “A nation cannot exist half free and half slave and a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.”

Those words reverberated in the south and right after he was elected the south determined that they had to fight this guy. This is what happens with words of light when they are sent to where darkness is. They will be fought, they will be fought just like I talked about in discussing the words and works of the two witnesses. The beast fights against them and attempts to destroy them until their dead bodies are lying in the streets of the symbolic New Jerusalem and then people are sending gifts to one another because they are so happy that they can just have their little mediocre beliefs to celebrate.

McCall Gathering, 2007, Part 26

This entry is part 26 of 54 in the series McCall Gathering 2007

Honesty

JJ: What is light and what does light do?

Audience: Reveals

JJ: Reveals, okay, light reveals truth and what is. Light reveals things as they really are and dark conceals. If you look at politicians, a politician that is influenced by the light will tell things as they really are, “Look I am really going to increase your taxes.” When is the last time we heard that? Never?

The politician who sides with the dark will say, no I am not going to increase your taxes and then within a month after getting elected, he supports increasing our taxes. What the politician did was conceal what he was really going to do from us and perhaps even from himself. He may have believed his own words.

“To thine own self be true and as the light falls the day thou can not be false to any man.” This is one of the greatest statements ever made. We have to be true to our self and I think many of these politicians actually believe what they are saying and then when they get in office and after about a month they join the good ole boys club and they are told that if they want to get along then you have to play ball and vote as they are told to vote and vote with the group. Forget about this individual stuff it does not work in Washington.

So the majority of the politicians are unable to reveal in the light and tell you what they will do. If you find somebody that does we will keep him or her, unless they have a screw that is too loose on what makes sense. Keep them for their honesty if at all possible.

So the light reveals what is and the Brotherhood of Light stresses the principle of honesty. This is one of the principles of liberation – to be honest. Now I have known people who believe this to the wrong extreme. I have known this person that if she sees someone that is fat she will say you are fat, I said why did you word it that way? Well she would say I was just being honest. I replied, you are honest but you are also cruel. You have to blend the virtues together not isolate them and take them to the extreme. So how could she have been totally honest about the gal being fat? For one she just could not have said anything. You know if your wife comes to and says honey, are my thighs too heavy? You are going to sleep on the couch no matter what you say!

Audience: Laughter!

JJ: The thing is to be honest and you could say, honey, you look better to me than the day we were married. You can say it and if you really believe that then you are honest and you are not saying anything negative. You probably are still going to sleep on the couch though because then she will say, you are avoiding the question – why are you avoiding the question? Answer me.

Women are so very mysterious to us guys. They are one of the last mysteries for us guys to unfold, the mind of the female.

So anyway the key is, “as honest as possible because you are in the light” you will notice that when you read the New Testament in the words of Jesus, He was starkly honest and he was usually polite and kind except when someone richly deserved to be told off. Then He was not beyond letting them have it. You remember in the temple where He made the whip and chased everybody out and turned over the tables because they were turning the house of God into a house of merchandise, which infuriated Him.

Audience: So could you think about it in terms of that you want to be honest and you are also practice harmlessness?

JJ: That is a good point because with the wrong wording of your honesty you can actually create harm for somebody. I remember Curtis wrote this paper and he was really enthused about it, I had done a lot of writing and I took a look at it and I pointed out some positive things and I was honest and it made him feel pretty good about and then Wayne comes in and Curtis says what you think Wayne? Wayne takes a look and says, man, this needs a lot of correction, give me your red pen.

He said his English is awful and he spent about a half hour on one paragraph until the paper was dripping with red ink. Curtis says, give me that back I do not want anymore feedback from you! And you could tell poor Curtis’ jaw just dropped as Wayne was making these corrections. When I commented I was nice as I could be and fed his ego a little bit but old Wayne, he just was not thinking of Curtis’s ego at all.  You could just feel ole Curtis sink as Wayne was going through this paper with that red pen. It was kind of funny from my angle but Curtis did not think it was funny! Wayne was having a good time destroying Curtis’s ego.

This illustrates that you have to be careful, Wayne and I were both honest but Wayne was just not thinking of Curtis’s feelings at all. Wayne is a really nice guy, don’t get me wrong, but when it comes to correcting English, I am real hesitant to give him anything to look at. Now I just say, Wayne read this quickly and tell me what you think, don’t worry about correcting it. If he starts to correct it then he never gets through more than about three pages because he finds so many things to correct.

Wayne and I were both honest to Curtis but we chose different words to portray that honesty. I realized that was his first major attempt to write anything and being a writer myself I understand how important it is to have support and constructive criticism. I remember when I first started writing I was very fragile and positive feedback was much more important then than it is now. Now if I write something and someone has a negative opinion towards it then I just take it with a grain of salt.

So I figured Curtis would be more fragile at this early stage of his endeavor also and Wayne proved me right. So one of the keys to white magic is total honesty, honesty with graciousness, kindness and sometimes you may want to leave something out and leaving something out is not being dishonest. Leaving something out can support deception but if dome with judgment one can be totally honest with what is revealed.

Even in the Book of Proverbs it says, “It is the glory of God to conceal things.” In other words God, the Masters and the Higher Lives conceal a lot of things from us because as DK tells us, He says many times that I could tell you certain things but it could prove dangerous so I am not going to tell you right now. He says it will be revealed to those who are ready. Why does he not tell us? There are certain mantras the he says and words of power that He could give us but if they were used incorrectly they could cause insanity or death so I am not going to tell you how certain things work here because if a person is not ready then they could be misused.

So concealing a thing is not dishonest, especially if you admit you are concealing something. Now if a person is asked if he is concealing something and he says no, then that is dishonest. So to conceal a thing is not dishonest and is even supported by the Bible itself, but to state something that is just black and white not true is being dishonest. If I have a dollar in my hand and I tell you it is five dollars then that is an absolute black and white untruth. That is definitely something that we must avoid.

Something else that is not dishonest is telling a joke and I have told quite a number of jokes in my life and the basis of the jokes is always something that is not true but often times the principle of the joke is true. They say that only the truth is funny so jokes often illustrate some point of truth but a joke always has things that are untrue to really stretch the reality to make it funny and of course most people would not consider a joke to be dishonest because once a person gets the joke and then they realize what it is and it was just a joke.

What is funny though is when you tell a joke and people do not get it and they think you are being serious. I went into Kinko’s one time and I took out brand new twenty dollar bill  I had just got it from the bank and it was really fresh looking and crisp. It looked like it had just been printed, I had a couple dollars worth of copies and I handed it to the gal and said, it looks pretty good doesn’t it, I printed it up on one of your machines!

Audience: Laughter

JJ: She looks at it wondering if I had really done this and I saw she was worried I was a lawbreaker and said, I was just joking. She was just so nervous and she kept looking at it and she really believed I printed it up and she just did not get the joke.

Audience: On the same lines we often take cash when we are doing one of the shows, so will take five dollars at a time in cash for people who admission charge of five dollars, so at the bank she asked me how I got all this money and I said drugs, and as it turns out you have to report that. Good thing it all turned out well because I am sitting here.

Audience: Laughter

JJ: That is interesting. So light and dark the names of the two brotherhoods and reveals a lot about how they are different. The dark brothers conceal or deceive about everything and they portray themselves differently than they are. If one is a politician, for instance, he will present himself as the benevolent caretaker of humanity type thing that is going to do all kinds of good things for everybody. There may be blatant lies and deceptions and he or she may know they are deceptions but he says them anyway because the truth does not matter to them.

Now very few politicians are actually members of the dark brothers but the dark brothers do use certain people, especially if they have positions of power – they are much more likely to be used by the brotherhood than somebody like the average John Doe who has no position of power.

For instance, those who come to me and say, yea my ex-wife was in with the dark brotherhood. Well did your ex-wife have any power or influence? No she was a housewife. Well then what use would the dark brothers have for her unless she was committed to the dark path, and if she was committed to the dark path she would be doing more than just being a housewife.

So that is one thing to look for, the agents of the dark brotherhood will be people with influence and power. No one is put to use more in this particular age than the politicians. They also make use of heads of religions, heads of state, education groups, finance and banking. These people that are in positions of power are in a big struggle between the two brotherhoods. Very few of them are actually members of the dark brotherhood for to be a member of the dark brotherhood, you have to actually make a certain degree of progress, you have to reach the point to where you are approaching the third initiation. You have to reach the point to where you have mastery over the physical and emotional to a fairly high degree before you can see the choice.

Now you can be used before this point, but you have to reach a fairly high degree before you can actually make the choice because you cannot join either one of the two brotherhoods consciously until you have the two paths open up before you and see clearly what the two paths are and you make a conscious definite choice. So unless the person you know has made the definite choice, he or she is not a dark brother. However, as DK also says all of humanity are under control of the antichrist forces and almost all of humanity are used to a degree by the dark brothers because they have people in positions of power and they influence and the average person to a high degree. The average person is much more influenced by emotion and selfishness than they are with group consciousness and altruism and group service. Not too many people are into the higher virtues and average humanity, almost everybody, is influenced by individual selfishness.

If a politician gets up and the first thing he or she says is, “Here is what I am going to do for you.” And whatever that may be whether it is lots of benefits and entitlements, or rebates or tax cuts or to pay you for education and you get a piece of the government nest egg and so on. You can be sure that you must be very wary of that kind of talk about what they are going to do for you. Now the worker in the light, of course, serves us but He is not going to serve just by having the government give stuff to us. He is going to help to increase our state of freedom. The worker on the side of light increases freedom and the worker on the dark side will say that they are going to give stuff to you and they are going to put benefits on every plate of some kind, but the price will be a decrease in freedom.

Identifying Light and Dark

One of the things I thought I would talk about and one of things DK talks about in the book on White Magic is the difference between the light and dark brotherhoods. I have heard quite a few people say; I think my ex-husband (ore wife) was a dark brother.  Or my ex-boyfriend he was a dark brother and I have different people coming to me and identifying people that they thought were dark brothers but in very few cases they would really be right because if a person is somebody that goes against your belief system or seems cold and hard then that does not a dark brother make. All of us have been through a number of lives and even though Robin here is just as sweet a gal as you can find anywhere, maybe a hundred lifetimes ago she was really someone to be reckoned with. She may have caught Larry doing something she did not like and taken care of him right there, on the spot.

But this is why it is important when we look at other people that we be careful when we judge them, because as we judge them we may be identifying something we have been or will be and if we can identify with being that then we are much more careful about judging the other person.

Say if a person has been a thief a past and he is not a thief anymore. You will find that person to very cautious about condemning the person that is a thief because they will think, well I understand the mindset, it is wrong and I understand it is wrong but he will be careful about condemning the person that has done what he himself did. This is the attitude all of us should take in dealing with other people.

Many people have all kinds of individuals in their lives that just irritate and annoy them very much. What we have to look at is that we all have our share of faults and we do our share of irritating other people. We must be cautious about judging people where they are in the moment.  It helps to remember the truism – “There but for the grace of God go I.”

Do we all know people that judge much more harshly than this? They judge, as they could never have been guilty of such a thing. Some crimes are so heinous that people think that they could never be like that and that is very possible in the future but not so much in the past. And this one of the beautiful things knowledge brings to us about understanding reincarnation. There is more than one life and if we are 500, 700, 900 lives old in this system then we have probably done everything there is to do and where that person is, we have been.

Curtis read the statement from the Aquarian Gospel, quoting the words of Jesus, “Where I am you shall be and what I have done you can do.” And it works in reverse. We find someone that is in prison somewhere for some crime and what he has done, we have probably done. It works in reverse on the backward scale and it also works positively when we think of a Master like Christ or an example of a great athlete that we want to become like or a great statesman that we want to become like or a great writer, that he can inspire us. What he is I can be and that is a very inspiring thing.

And almost every person that achieves greatness finds some role model that he thinks – what he is, I can be. Look what he accomplished starting from nothing. What is the reason that I can’t do the same thing? This person rose in the company so why can’t I, or this person started a business so why can’t I? This person wrote a book – I can write a book. This type of example really helps. So often our judgment is a very important key.

Live and let live is another important phrase. If people would just live and let live the whole world would be a lot better place. Imagine if Germany, Italy, the United States, Europe, just before World War II had said, lets all get together and just live and let live. Hitler would have got together with the Jews and the Jews would have said, Hitler how about just live and let live. You do your thing and we will do ours. How about that? If Hitler would have just okay then the whole problem of World War II, the whole conflict, millions upon millions of lives could have been saved if people would have just been a little bit tolerant and just live and let live.

When you think of that it is a very important principle. There are a lot of people in this world that just do want to live and let live and they think, this person is really screwing up and this person is saying this and this person is a dark brother and this person is evil and this person is on the wrong path he needs to be set straight or something worse. This type of attitude creates a tremendous amount of problems for humanity. If we just live and let live and judge softly thing would be so much better.

The scripture does not say do not judge because we have to judge. The key to my book The Lost Key of the Buddha is actually judgment but it is judgment in the positive sense for we have to make judgments in order to move ahead. The scripture does not say do not judge but if you judge then you will be judged with the same type of judgments that you handed out. What you hand out in judgment will come back. In other words, if we make a harsh judgment then somebody will come along and make a harsh judgment toward us but it does not say don’t judge. As a matter of fact there is another scripture that says, “When you judge, judge righteously.” It tells us to have “right use of judgment.”

That is one of the things that I try to do in my life is to be sparing in my judgment and not be harsh but try to always think, that guy is not where I am right now but I have probably been there so I should understand where he is coming from as much as possible.

Now, the question might be asked what is the true difference between the brotherhood of light and the brother hood of darkness? Let’s make a list of differences between the brotherhood of light and the dark brothers. First of all what is the most obvious difference? Let us name a few.
