Houston, We Have a Problem

This entry is part 11 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

Houston, We Have a Problem

In this case, Houston, is a symbol of the esoteric world.

There is a problem in the land of Ancient Wisdom occupied by students of Alice A. Bailey and H. P. Blavatsky.

And what is that problem? You say.

The problem is that numerous esoteric groups are disregarding admonitions of the teachings they endorse and promote.

And why do I say this?

For one thing they ban many sincere seekers from participating, often leaving them perplexed with no idea as to why they were thrown off. Many are banned not only from posting, but even viewing open sites.

Tell me. What harm can a person do just by viewing posts?

I speak here from experience as that I have been banned from most groups I have joined which are dedicated to the writings of Alice A. Bailey and Blavatsky. And I am not alone. I know of numerous other sincere seekers with much to contribute who have had the same problem.

What is going on here? Are us banned folk a bunch of disrupters elbowing our way in and causing mayhem?

That may happen once in a while, but it has not been the case with me or any of my friends.

I can speak for myself and will say this. I am always willing to abide by the rules of any group I join and if I find myself inadvertently doing something contrary to the wishes of the administrators I will instantly conform and respect the right of group owners to set their own rules. I do expect them to honor their own guidelines though which sometimes does not happen.

I don’t seem to have a problem with groups not related to the ancient wisdom, but particularly the Bailey related groups have an intolerance and exclusive attitude that far exceeds other groups out there.

Since coming on to Facebook I have joined about a dozen Ancient Wisdom related sites and been banished from at least eight that I recall. None of them gave me a warning first, but just pulled my membership out of the blue. I did have a slim idea of the last ban and that was I merely asked the administrator why he deleted one of my posts. I wondered what the problem was with it.

That was enough. I was thrown off without warning.

The strange thing is that I am a very easy person to get along with. I am not a rebel for the sake of rebellion and don’t go looking for trouble. When I am in another’s group or house I try and respect the rules, and this was my approach in all these groups which have banned me. Some have even banned me when I had not even posted for a considerable time.

Here’s the situation with some of these groups as it appears to me. They are controlled by watchers who do not decide who can participate by any guidelines they have, but by their feelings. If they feel some member does not fit they formulate a reason in their mind to ban them.

This demonstrates a very high intolerance for any view, expressed or unexpressed, that doesn’t conform to their views.

In my case I did not post anything in any of the groups that ran contrary to the teachings of the ancient wisdom or the guidelines of the group as I understood them. In most cases I do not know why I was banned without warning. Perhaps part of it is that I am gaining some traction as a spiritual teacher and some may not like what I say on my own web page and groups. Who knows?

Even if this is the case it does not explain why many of my friends have been banned also.

So how does this banning and excluding those who do not pass the smell test fit in to the actual teachings? Are we supposed to have a hair trigger toward exclusion, or lean toward inclusiveness?

Indeed, inclusiveness is a quality often stressed by DK. He sets the tone by stating that the soul’s “nature is inclusive love.” Externalization of the Hierarchy, Page 221

He further says that:

“The major idea which I would have you bear in mind is the development of Inclusiveness. This inclusiveness is the outstanding characteristic of the soul, or self, whether it is the soul of man, the sensitive nature of the cosmic Christ, or the anima mundi, the soul of the world. This inclusiveness tends to synthesis. Esoteric Psychology, Vol 2, Page 556

“the Christ and His workers know only the experience of group consciousness. A separative participation and attitude is unknown to Them, for Their state of awareness is inclusive and in no way exclusive.” Reappearance of the Christ, Pages 68-69

Obviously the attitude of Christ, the Masters and our own soul is centered on inclusion. What causes the student to go contrary to this path? Again DK beautifully explains:

“You are, under the glamour of idealism, apt to sacrifice the spirit of love in order to preserve the form of your ideal. Ponder on this for it is basic in its teaching value for you if you grasp rightly the implications. *** Ideals, as usually held, feed pride, lead to stubbornness, and engender a separative superiority; they produce impractical attitudes and negative activities. The one who thus holds them frequently serves only in the limited field, conditioned by his chosen work and coloured by his idealism. He excludes the Whole and thinks in terms of the past and as he wants to think. There is no real understanding of an opposing idealism and often no real attempt to comprehend its basis. His emphasis upon his own ideals (in his own consciousness even when not imposed on others) prevents understanding, and he is so busy upholding them and defending them (oft again to himself) and being conditioned by them that the larger human issues escape his attention. He settles down within the limits of his own beliefs. This makes him immediately a theologian and his usefulness then rapidly evaporates, except in the intimate circle of his fellow idealists. As time goes on, crystallisation takes place. A ‘crystal barrier’ is set up between the personality and the soul. The soul is seen but its influence is insulated. But—because there is a vision of the soul still persisting—the disciple is deeply dissatisfied. The crystallisation eventually affects all aspects of the nature. Emotions settle into ‘grooves of crystal’; the mind becomes set and brittle. The physical body crystallises also and gets old rapidly because there is no free flow of life.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 530-531

So, some students are so rigidly set upon ideals within their minds that they miss the big picture that is only seen through maximum inclusion.

Yes, it is true that exclusion does have its place. If someone is rude, abusive or completely out of alignment with group goals then it may be best to send them on their way. On the other hand, groups dedicated to spreading the Ancient Wisdom should have as large of a net as possible to bring in and invoke sincere seekers.

So then, the first major problem with esoteric groups is that too many are exclusive rather than inclusive. They reject students of the Ancient Wisdom who think a little differently from themselves.

A second major problem with many esoteric groups is the limited range of expression allowed. Now it is understandable that if a group is dedicated to a certain subject that they would like members to stay focused on that subject. However, this is not the type of limitation that is the problem. The problem arises when those in control have an ideal in their mind of what is the correct doctrine or approach and all must conform to it or be banned. Many go to extreme to maintain peace and frown upon any arguments (even though civil) between members and especially a disagreement with the leadership.

This rigidity prevents the free flow of ideas and causes groups to create a “crystal barrier” to use a phrase from DK.

After joining a group the student gets a feel as to what he or she can say and what is forbidden. If the thoughts of students are of high quality the group range should be very inclusive to accommodate, but often they are very restrictive instead and students who do not discern the unwritten guidelines will often find themselves banned without warning.

To ban and block a sincere student without warning is a great error, siding with exclusion, not inclusion. If a sincere student’s posts are somewhat out of order and he is warned then there is a good chance he will conform and be a productive member.

Conclusion: Esoteric groups seeking to be in harmony with teachings of inclusion should work with students to integrate and allow for maximum freedom of expression within group guidelines.

There seems to be two illusions that guide many of the groups. The first is an idealized standard of truth that is not to be infringed or challenged and the second is the illusion of peace by suppression. Peace that is obtained by suppression of speech is not true peace at all and not desirable as thought by many. All reach that point of decision as did Arjuna and “when right decision and choice have been made ‘stand up and fight,’ and will find themselves no longer on the Path of Purification but upon the Path of Discipleship.” Glamour, A World Problem, Page 100

The fourth ray governs humanity and it operates on the principle of harmony through conflict, not harmony by avoiding conflict, as many seem to think. Conflict brings forth opposing ideas and their contrast sheds light and the eventual increase of light brings the real harmony and the true peace.

DK says, “entire groups of people are increasingly susceptible to their (ray) influence and this inevitably leads to these groups (responsive to either the sixth or the seventh ray forces) being in opposition to and antagonistic to each other.” Destiny of the Nations, Page 45

So we have those under the Piscean authoritarian sixth ray who seek peace through suppression in conflict with the arriving seventh ray people who and centered on mind and seek harmony through conflict, above that of suppression.

This is a major problem as the ages shift and the new way of thinking begins to overtake the old. The authority of the old church fathers is being replaced by the authority of the soul expressed by individual expression.

Those who are in contact with the soul or the Masters will generate conflict as DK says, “The over-shadowing of all disciples and initiates, and the consequent stimulation of their natures and of their environment, must inevitably produce conflict; the outpouring of the stimulating love of God into the hearts of men must equally and inevitably produce conflict; the line of cleavage between men of goodwill and the unresponsive natures of those uninfluenced by this quality will be made abundantly, usefully and constructively clear. It will be obvious also that when Christ establishes the “centre or focal point of the divine Purpose” in some definite place on Earth, its radiation and implementary potency will also produce the needed conflict which precedes the clarification and the renunciation of obstructions.” Rays and Initiations, Pages 617-618

A higher light and conflict then “precedes the clarification and the renunciation of obstructions.”

Synthesis must be obtained in spite of differences and conflicts for “Only as servers cooperate from the standpoint of an inner subjective linking can a united world be carried forward…. the inner relationships and cooperation Must be established and developed, in spite of the outer divergences of opinion.” Esoteric Psychology, Vol 2, Page 106

When the sincere Aquarian open-minded seeker searches out a group related to Ancient Wisdom in which to participate on Facebook or other sources, what does he find?

He finds some dedicated to single subjects. That’s well and good he says, but I want to investigate a wide range of thinking. He searches on and finds others focused on Theosophy or Ancient Wisdom in general and plunges in but soon discovers that the discussion is firmly limited. No disagreement with the authorities is permitted and any argument with a fellow member may get one silenced in one way or another. The student then finds that the groups do not seem to provide an avenue for expansive thinking.

Where can he go to release the light of the soul he has been given?

Where could I go to even post this treatise?

This is a problem I have sought to rectify by creating several outlets for seekers to be able to freely express themselves in alternative spiritual thinking and the Ancient Wisdom within reasonable group guidelines and civility.

First of all, we have my main group, The Keys of Knowledge, (LINK) which allows for an open discussion of on topic subjects. I generally do not take action on members even when they insult me, though I may give them a warning or may delete their posts if they insult others.

Many who are into the Ancient Wisdom who lean to the right have had no place to express themselves. Most esoteric sites lean left and allow expression in that direction, but little or nothing from the right. Several approached me about starting a spiritual political group that welcomes all views.

We started such a site called “Esoteric Politics and Freedom.”

Here is the LINK

Others desire a place they can go to discuss different views concerning the Ancient Wisdom. Now they can discuss different views here on the Keys, but the ancient Wisdom is just one of the sources used here. To fill this void I created a new group (Quotes of Enlightenment and Ancient Wisdom) which focuses on an open and free discussion of Wisdom writings, particularly those from Alice A. Bailey. Here is the LINK

Students are welcome in all three groups and different views are allowed as long as they are on topic and civil.

Feeding The Fourth And Fifth

This entry is part 09 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

Feeding The Fourth And Fifth

It is interesting to contemplate on the idea that the higher kingdoms feed on the lower. It is obvious that the vegetable feeds on the mineral, the animals on the vegetable and the humans the animals. How this plays out further up the scale is not so obvious, but indeed we do have the words of a master who says, “the fifth feeds on the fourth.” In other words, the spiritual hierarchy, or the inhabitants of the kingdom of God derive nourishment from the human kingdom.

It is indeed true that all the inhabitants of the fifth kingdom were once in the fourth and therefore would not exist without us, but that doesn’t give us the full answer. The question is how they presently obtain nourishment from us similarly to how we do so from animals and vegetables.

Correspondences are rarely exact so I do not see the masters turning us into Soylent Green and eating us in a feast. Neither do I see the higher residents of Shamballa dining on the masters. Instead of being too literal we must look at the principle involved and that is nourishment of the higher by the lower. Nourishment can be obtained in a number of ways. Humans, for instance, obtain a certain amount of nourishment trough invisible prana just by being out in the sun. Then we obtain nourishment that feeds our emotional selves through friendships, romance as well as associations with our pets.

The members of the fifth kingdom have worked tirelessly for thousands of years to assist us humans so there has to be something in it for them. For one thing we know the higher must help the lower so they can earn the right to receive help from one higher still.

But beyond that any teacher or helper receives some immediate benefit when the assistance is received and appreciated.

As we read on in DK’s words we see another hint. The rule in question says: “Let then the group—merged in the fifth—be nourished by the sixth and seventh.”

The goal of a group of initiates then is to merge with the fifth. In other words, the destiny of advanced humans is to become as members of the kingdom of God while still being on earth in the human kingdom. When a group is able to do this then they will “be nourished by the sixth and seventh.”

Thus, when we create group consciousness on earth as it is in heaven the door is open to something even higher, the two kingdoms higher than the spiritual hierarchy. Humans and masters sharing consciousness will then receive nourishment from the kingdom where resides the Ancient of Days – Shamballa.

Because the Hierarchy depends on humans for this merging to bring down extra spiritual energies we can say that the fifth feeds on the fourth.

Keep in mind that this is just one answer for there is often more than one interpretation to writings received from a spiritual source.

Food For Thought

This entry is part 08 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

Food For Thought

Daniel made this interesting observation a few days ago:

“There seems to be a natural hierarchy between the kingdoms, so that generally each serves and is as a food to the one above it. Hence the mineral kingdom is food to the plant kingdom, the plant kingdom to the animal kingdom, the animal kingdom to the human kingdom, and the human kingdom to the divine.”

Most of us basically understand that the vegetable consumes, or feeds on, the mineral or the earth, the animals feed on the vegetable and the humans the animals. But then he says that the humans are food “to the divine.” Could this be correct?

Perhaps so. Here is what DK says in the rules of healing:

Rule VI For Disciples and Initiates:

“Let the group know that life is one and naught can ever take or touch that life. Let the group know the vivid, flaming, drenching Life that floods the fourth when the fifth is known. The fifth feeds on the fourth. Let then the group—merged in the fifth—be nourished by the sixth and seventh and realise that all the lesser rules are rules in time and space and cannot hold the group. It onward moves in life.” Esoteric Healing, Page 21

Notice that he says, “The fifth feeds on the fourth.” The fifth kingdom is the Kingdom of God, or the Spiritual Hierarchy and the fourth is the human.

This is an excellent thought for contemplation. The question is this.

How is it that the human kingdom is food for the higher spiritual lives?

Occult Obedience

This entry is part 07 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

Occult Obedience

The parent-child relationship is a good example of the standard type of obedience used by the world. For example, the kid doesn’t want to eat his green vegetables, but wants junk food instead. The parent then tells him that she knows what’s good for him and he’d better eat them or else.

This type of obedience is the only kind that can be extracted from those who have not yet gained the consciousness to conform to a higher type of obedience.

And what is that?

This is what DK calls “occult obedience.” This takes a higher consciousness so the one who is expected to obey understands why obedience is desirable.

For example, when the child matures he learns the principles of nutrition and realizes why the parent requested he eat green vegetables. He now obeys the desire of the parent, not through fear of punishment, but because he understands the benefit of the green vegetables just as does the parent.

The higher lives seek for cooperation from the sincere seekers of the world, but they do not seek co-workers from those who have to be told what to do and must be under threat of punishment before they can be relied upon. Instead, they will send impressions to a prospective laborer and see if he will respond with his own free will. If the seeker can then act with a similar understanding of the need, as does the Master, he then becomes a prospect to become a fellow servant.

His free will obedience is called “occult obedience.”

Here are several quotes from DK on the subject:

Obedience, for the disciple, is a quick spiritual reaction to the Plan as it emanates from the Hierarchy, rapid and correct sensitive registration of the quality of the Ashram with which he may be affiliated and a consequent and in time almost automatic undertaking (with speed) the required task. It is a task which the disciple assigns to himself and is not one ordered by the Master. The acceptance of the task is simply evidence that the disciple is an ashramic worker, pledged to the welfare of humanity. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 586-587

What is this occult obedience, my brothers, about which we hear so much? Not what many occult groups make it out to be. It is not the control of an external organisation, dedicated to so-called occult work. It is not the imposed conditions of any teacher of any rank. It is not the exchange of the prison of one set of ideas for those of another set with perhaps a larger range or import. A prison is a prison, whether it is a tiny cell or an isolated island of vast extent, from which escape is impossible. Glamour, A World Problem, Page 49

I will teach you. Whether or not you profit by the teaching is entirely your own affair; that is something that the disciples of the New Age need to learn. There is no such thing as occult obedience as usually taught by the current occult schools. In the olden days in the East, the Master exacted from His disciple that implicit obedience which actually made the Master responsible and placed upon His shoulders the destiny or the karma of the disciple. That condition no longer holds good. The intellectual principle in the individual is now too much developed to warrant this type of expectancy. Therefore, this condition no longer holds good. In the coming New Age, the Master is responsible for the offering of opportunity and for the right enunciation of the truth but for no more than that. In these more enlightened days, no such position is assumed by the teacher as in the past, and I do not assume it. I shall with frankness speak. I know my disciples, for no disciple is admitted into an Ashram without deep consideration on the part of the teacher. I shall convey by hint and symbol that which should be apprehended and it will be noted and understood by those among my disciples who have the opened, inner ear and true humility of heart. If it is not recognised, time will pursue its onward course and revelation will ultimately come. `I exact, therefore, no blind obedience. But, however, if advice and suggestion are accepted and you choose—of your own free will—to follow my instructions, those instructions must be followed accurately. Also, there must be none of that constant looking for results and for phenomena which has deterred the course and the progress of many would-be disciples. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Page 5, 7

The magnetic pull of the positive centre at the very heart of the group; that means the magnetic pull of the Master. As you well know, theoretically at least, at the centre of the Ashram stands ever the Master, or else an initiate or a world disciple. His task is to blend and fuse the energies, tendered and proffered by the group (under the urge to serve) and to indicate the field of service. The mode of this instinctual activity is called occult obedience and this is voluntarily rendered and unitedly followed. When any group—working in this way under a Master—is moved by one spiritual impulse and functions through one firm organisation (like electrons around the positive nucleus in an atom), the potency of the group will become immediately effective and not before Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Page 703

The recognition that in this work, true occult obedience or the intelligent response to the urge of the group soul and to the “pull” of the Hierarchy, is the next major requirement. This will produce the right carrying out of the required assigned technique and a complete refraining from any interest in phenomenal results or an analysis (at this stage) of any reactions experienced. Individual analysis hinders group recognition and true realisation. This is a point to be considered and remembered Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Pages 53-54

My next reason for disbanding the group is the failure in occult obedience of many of you. Voluntarily and willingly you joined the groups for training, discipline and expansion. This involved the following of certain suggestions, meditations and instructions. For years, quite a number of you have done absolutely nothing about your personal instructions. I refer here not only to exoteric exactitude but (above all else) to esoteric understanding. When, my brothers, I assign meditation work and make suggestion over the years, I have a definite purpose in view and a plan worked out [76] which is adapted to the particular student. When the work is not done, I—owing to the freewill of the disciple—am helpless. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 75

Certain other students regarded “occult obedience” as an infringement of their freewill, as did D.A.O. Quite a number of you simply suffered from inertia, and though pleased and excited over the material received from me, in the group or personal instructions, were too lazy to avail yourselves to the full of that which was given, and consistently failed to comply with my requests. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 92

Here I have very briefly outlined for you the new developments which are possible if the disciple is rightly focussed and oriented. There are within latent possibilities. If you will pause and consider, you will realise that the task of the Master in the past, as He sought to prepare the disciple for initiation, was largely concerned with awakening him to the need for occult obedience, for right orientation, for persistence, and for devotion to his objective. But all that lies far behind the true modern disciple. Today, the Master indicates to him the overshadowing cloud of knowable things; He assures him that he has within him undreamt of powers which will, when brought to the surface of consciousness, demonstrate to him his own essential adeptship and enable him to share in the great hierarchical task of illumining, precipitating, and lifting. Today the Master—having done the above—leaves the disciple to work through to knowledge and cooperative usefulness; He neither pushes him into premature action nor constantly supervises him; He surrounds him with the aura of His presence and the protection and stimulation of His Ashram; He gives him occasional hints, and as the disciple acts and works upon the hinted suggestions, the hint becomes a clear direction and a luminous area of enlightenment. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Pages 300-301

That occult obedience which signifies freedom, spiritual freedom, within a world of natural law, has garnered for you sound results. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 541 Also see Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Pages 686-687

Telepathy Externalized

This entry is part 06 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

Telepathy Externalized

There is a lot of meat that could be discussed in these quotes by Anna, but I found one particularly interesting which states:

“I have indicated somewhat the intended work of the first group from the angle of telepathic interplay. The method of communication between the Members of the Hierarchy has to be externalized, eventually, upon earth and this is one of the tasks of the group.”

This method of communication is a form of mental telepathy which he says will be externalized. This means that members of the human kingdom will be able to communicate mind to mind as do the masters. Just imagine how the world would be different if such an ability were commonplace. We wouldn’t need much of the technology we have now and we could meet as we do now on Facebook with no electronic devices.

Own the other hand, another possible development may be overlooked here. Some advanced thinkers are already planning for the creation of telepathy through the use of technology. There are plans to develop implant technology linked to our brains so those with the implants can access the internet and communicate with anyone on it. So, instead of turning on your computer and sending a message, you would just have to think of any person connected and then have a mind to mind communication with them. In fact, technology may take us beyond communication in words so we can see an instant image or perhaps even a hologram of the person contacted.

I would guess we will see this technology developed within the next 50 years or sooner as long as no major catastrophe interrupts us.

So what do you think? Will DK’s prediction come to pass through technology, spiritual development or both?

Do you think that many would resist such an implant for fear they would receiving the mark of the beast in their foreheads? It would be an interesting development if such an implant were used to buy and sell.

The Two Hierarchies

This entry is part 05 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

The Two Hierarchies

Esoteric students realize that there is duality in all things manifest and this applies also to hierarchy. The problem with us humans is we tend to focus on only one side of the equation, often as if that is all that exists. But true students do not want to correspond to one hand clapping and desire to see both sides to achieve a full picture.

There is a negative use of hierarchy and a positive one. But the light and the dark brothers need to use this principle because without it creation and order cannot manifest.

There is a big difference though in how the two hierarchies function. The dark hierarchies use great authority and control through fear. Those in higher position glory in their status and have an air of superiority that is not to be challenged. The laws and regulations are many, strict and not to be questioned.

The church during the dark ages, which tortured heretics, was an example of this type of hierarchy and residual effects today of this and other distorted hierarchies cause many sincere students to doubt that hierarchy can be used toward a benevolent end.

But indeed it can for it is necessary in all endeavors, and just like money can be use for good or evil, so can hierarchy.

In a positive hierarchy there occurs a natural surfacing of those who possess certain skills who seek to aid those who want to achieve what they have. DK says this:

“The recognition of hierarchical status, which is, in the last analysis, the relation of the lesser to the greater, of the weaker to the stronger and of the more experienced to the less experienced. Thereby the sense of protection is developed, which is the working out of one form of the love aspect in the universe.” Education in the New Age, Page 129

Thus the motivation of a spiritual hierarchy is not fear, but love. You have those who love their fellow men and women and seek to assist them in achieving their desires. The simplest human hierarchy is the family. Concerning this DK says:

“Parenthood has also a close symbolic relationship to the Hierarchy, for the family unit is the symbol upon earth of the Hierarchy,” Education in the New Age, Page 132

The positive family unit has the mother and father as hierarchical leaders who are motivated through love to give all they can to their children.

Beyond the family unit there are hierarchies everywhere. Every business has a hierarchical leader that must be contacted for most any approval of purchase or change. Every organization and government has hierarchical leaders.

Helena Roerich said this:

“Furthermore, the law of Hierarchy reigns throughout the whole of Cosmos. Precisely, subordination of the lower to the higher exists in the Cosmos. And what can exist without the Leading Principle? On what is evolution based? The multiplicity of forms and manifestations along with the unity of the fiery essence, the struggle for harmony and attainment of perfection, and the leading hierarchic principle – these are the foundations of existence. Nature itself is our sole, and greatest Teacher and Lawgiver.” Letters of Helena Roerich, Vol 2

Indeed, our very makeup is considered hierarchical:

“Each man is, therefore, within himself, a hierarchy, a reflection of a great chain of being.”   Esoteric Psychology, Vol 2, Page 432

Without hierarchies very little would get done and most have no problem giving some authority to leaders. For instance, in my home town we have a mayor and city council. I do not agree with all their decisions, but I would much rather have them there keeping things together than live in anarchy or attempt to handle all the affairs myself. I am also glad to have a sheriff and law enforcement keeping order, even though I may grumble about getting a traffic ticket now and then.

As hierarchies progress from dark to light cooperation changes its motivation from fear to love. There is a great difference from barking out strict orders to merely pointing the way. DK tells us that the spiritual hierarchy obtains cooperation through a principle called, “occult obedience.”

How do you suppose that works?

This entry is part 03 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

The Plan

Good comments on the Great Invocation and the Plan. Overall the Plan is quite complex. For instance, DK says that “Think not that I can tell of the plan as it truly is. It is not possible for any man, below the grade of initiate of the third degree, to glimpse it and far less understand it.”

For what we can understand he says: We need “to know (and not just dimly sense) that tiny aspect of the whole which is the immediate step ahead and with which cooperation is possible.”

In other words, the plan as far as us struggling seekers is concerned is that we become connected enough to understand what we can do to cooperate with the next step as perceived by the higher lives.

I see that a reader was impressed this statement:

“It is the production of a subjective synthesis in humanity and of a telepathic interplay which will eventually annihilate time. It will make available to every man all past achievements and knowledges, it will reveal to man the true significance of his mind and brain and make him the master of that equipment and will make him therefore omnipresent and eventually open the door to omniscience.”

I would assume that to “annihilate time” would be to share in the consciousness of what is called “The Eternal Now.” It also sounds like he is projecting the end result of the plan here rather than the immediate step which is for us to sense the next thing we can do to cooperate.

I’ll end this with one more question on the Great Invocation.

It speaks of restoring the plan on earth.

Does this mean the plan was once working effectively among humanity? What happened and when did it happen?

A reader mentions that the separation of humanity into male or female, or our descent into duality may have frustrated the plan.

Another makes this astute observation: “As to the restoration of the Plan on Earth, it may mean that the Plan was working until Humanity became evolved enough from the animal state to begin using the lower mind and indulging the unenlightened desires.”

Another thinks the past mistakes on the moon chain or cosmic evil has something to do with it. Bruno points out we are a fourth ray planet indicating that we may have to have conflict before we are in harmony with the plan.

Good thoughts from all. I’d say that the common thread through DK’s writings is that humanity is out of harmony with higher will because of too much attention of selfish interests, This is a product of self consciousness and free will manifesting through the astral and lower mind. It appears that we are the only kingdom out of harmony. The mineral, vegetable, animal and fifth kingdom all connect as they are supposed to, but humanity has temporally fallen from alignment.

When enough of us are set in alignment so there will be peace on earth and goodwill to men (and women) then the plan will be restored and progress will go forward as defined.

The Point

This entry is part 02 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

The Point

The Question:

So if God is represented by a dimensionless point and love is a point “within the heart of God” then we have a point within a point. How is this possible in a place without time or space?

This indeed leads to a great mystery. If the Source of all things that we call God is not form but the cause of it then what happens if all the motion in form ceases and the wavelengths flatline? If form is created on the principle of illusion through thought then what remains when form is no more? Is it nothing?

DK says this: “From the higher vision, that sees the subtler continuously overshadowing the dense when not in objective manifestation, pralaya is simply subjectivity, and is not that “which is not,” but simply that which is esoteric. Treatise on Cosmic Fire Pg 130

So during pralaya when form ceases to exist there is still something there. It is a subjective world in “esoteric” (hidden) existence beyond form, but the originator of it.

Because it cannot be represented in three dimensional portrayal it can only be described as a point. From this point all things manifest whether it be an atom or a planet. Within this point is subjective mind with the potential to manifest all form, light, love and power.

The basic intelligence that brought us all into manifestation is formless and can only be represented in form by a formless point.

The New Group

This entry is part 1 of 11 in the series Esoteric Teachings

The New Group

I have started a new Facebook group with a different slant than this or any other group I know of. It is called:

Quotes of Enlightenment and Ancient Wisdom (LINK)

This new group will focus on examining quotes from past writers of the Ancient wisdom and we invite you to check it out and join. Just click on the link below.

Here is a group description:

This group is about more than merely posting memes or short quotes and getting as many likes as possible. Instead, we will be looking at quotes that stimulate discussion. When placing a quote members are encouraged to say why they find it interesting or what they wish to discover from it. And, unlike most esoteric groups, we have no problem with a good argument developing as long as the participants remain civil. Light is often revealed through seeing both sides of a disagreement. Members should accept the value of the Fourth Ray of Harmony Through Conflict.

Here we place the most weight on quotes from the writings of Alice A. Bailey, amanuensis for Djwhal Khul (DK), but also respect any teacher of wisdom such as H. P. Blavatsky, Helena Roerich, Lucille Cedercrans, Geofry Hodson, A Course in Miracles, or anything that makes us think and discuss. When a quote is placed we recommend some comment or questions for discussion to be placed with them.

We start this as an open group with moderation to make sure posts focus in the desired direction. We will reject posts that do not apply or seem to be proselytizing for a point of view. Political thoughts will be permitted if they are connected with the teachings of the Ancient Wisdom. Others may be rejected. Please focus on the Ancient Wisdom and spiritual principles.

We prefer quotes of a hundred words or less as fodder for thought, unless an article is particularly interesting. Links to longer articles of spiritual interest are fine.

Here is the most famous quote from the Bailey writings:

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of men.

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth

Questions

Why is the word “point” used here – or should we say, why was this word chosen?

What is the Plan?

Comment

The quoted invocation says:

“Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.”

What do you suppose the “Plan” is as taught by DK?

DK says this about the plan:

“You might here ask and rightly so: What is this plan? When I speak of the plan I do not mean such a general one as the plan of evolution or the plan for humanity which we call by the somewhat unmeaning term of soul unfoldment. These two aspects of the scheme for our planet are taken for granted, and are but modes, processes and means to a specific end. The plan as at present sensed, and for which the Masters are steadily working, might be defined as follows:—It is the production of a subjective synthesis in humanity and of a telepathic interplay which will eventually annihilate time. It will make available to every man all past achievements and knowledges, it will reveal to man the true significance of his mind and brain and make him the master of that equipment and will make him therefore omnipresent and eventually open the door to omniscience. This next development of the plan will produce in man an understanding —intelligent and cooperative—of the divine purpose for which the One in Whom we live and move and have our being has deemed it wise to submit to incarnation. Think not that I can tell of the plan as it truly is. It is not possible for any man, below the grade of initiate of the third degree, to glimpse it and far less understand it. The development of the mechanism whereby a disciple may be en rapport with Those responsible for the working out of the plans, and the capacity to know (and not just dimly sense) that tiny aspect of the whole which is the immediate step ahead and with which cooperation is possible, that can be achieved by all disciples and should be held as the goal before all aspirants. `With the exception of probationary disciples who are not as yet sufficiently stable in their endeavour, all can therefore strive towards achieving continuity of consciousness and at awakening that inner light which, when seen and intelligently used, will serve to reveal other aspects of the Plan and specially that one to which the illumined knower can respond and usefully serve.

“To bring this about has been the objective of all training given during the past 400 years, and from this fact you can vision the utter patience of the Knowers of the race. They work slowly and with deliberation, free from any sense of speed, towards Their objective, but—and herein lies the immediate interest of what I have to communicate—They do have a time limit. This is based upon the Law of Cycles. It concerns the operation of certain periods of opportunity which necessarily have their term. During these times of opportunity, forces, influences, and energies are temporarily at work, and of these the Masters seek to make use.”
