Synposis: In the Bible, Book of Matthew, 5:48 (New Testament, KJV), Jesus admonishes believers to: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect." Similarly most who believe in some kind of "supreme being" also believe that their god is "perfect." Most Chritians believe that Jesus was perfect
and that God is perfect -- both in form and in whatever they think, say or do.
It is however, interesting to note how in the Old Testament that Moses was able to challenge God and have Him "repent, " thus convincing Him to change His mind.
How then is it that Moses -- being an imperfect human -- was able to challenge a supposedly pefect being and prevail?
Additionally, we are often taught that God, Jesus, and other such great beings cannot even endure the presence or existence, or any degree of "imperfection."
Ever find yourself considering your present state of imperfection and wondering how it is that you will ever become perfect enough to dwell in the presence of a being that is
not only all powerful, all knowing, but is perfect in every respect that you are not? Have you ever found yourself left to endure the futility and hopelessness when considering
the probability of ever obtaining such a level of "perfection" that would enable you to enter into and remain in the presence of your god?
If so, then you are invited to explore J. J. Dewey's teachings on "Relative Perfection" which may assist you in regaining the hope of obtaining that which you
have come to believe is unobtainable.
