Lower Nature

Betty Writes:

I may be splitting hairs here, but I would think that the Beast indicates the animal or lower nature of mankind. The "Beast of the Bottomless Pit" symbolizes the desire-mind which is the adversary of the Spirit. It is energized by the desire-nature never satisfied - i.e., "bottomless."

I do not see any disagreement here for the beast is of the lower nature and the lower nature is controlled by authority and the authoritative control is the keynote of the chapter. When we are finished I think we will all see as one because it will make a lot of sense.

Her explanation of 666 is the closest so far, but won't comment on it until we get on into the chapter.
