JJ:
Mr. Smith wisely suggests that we must not place dogma over thought
and reason as happens with some religious fanatics.
I agree and here are some other fanatical beliefs to avoid:
- Apocalyptic collapse. A Sierra Club member knocked on my door
some time ago and told me he and others like him were looking forward
to a complete economic collapse. I asked him how he was going to
survive and he thought he could live off the land and was unconcerned
that millions would die of starvation.
- Manmade global warming. This dogma disregards the fact that the
earth and the oceans have not warmed in the last decade. Also from
1850-1940 it warmed and when we started placing huge amounts of CO2
in the air it cooled from 1940-1976.
- Dogmatic fear of nuclear energy even though it is the safest
energy on the planet with not one death connected to it ever in the
western hemisphere.
- Dogmatic mindset of not drilling in ANWAR even to the point of
not disturbing an acre of desolation.

Typical Lefty. Cannot refute logic so just spews out name-calling.
So you think half the people in the country who believe the way I do
are morons? What does that say about you?
I'd like to see global warming dogmatists explain why it warmed from
1850-1940 when we were putting negligible amounts of CO2 in the air
and then cooled from 1940-1976 when we started putting huge amounts
in.
Unfortunately natural cycles are ignored by global warming dogmatists.
Unfortunately dogmatic leftists think that only the right can be
dogmatic when they are about ten times worse.

The failsafes in placed worked as planned and the amount of radiation
released was less than happens with a regular coal fired plant. The
danger was greatly hyped by the press and the China Syndrome movie.
"Gimmeshelter":
"Maybe there have been no "deaths in the western hemisphere" due to
nuclear power but, how many do you suppose will die if one does cut
loose a little, mmmmm?"
JJ:
The new generation of power plants is much safer than in the past.
The French get about 80% of their power through nuclear energy and
have the least pollution in Europe and no deaths.
"Gimmeshelter":
"Oh! and, Joseph....pray tell what you plan to do with the reactor
waste? You have an empty basement available?"
JJ:
We have the facilities at Yucca Mountain but Obama will not let is
store it there. Arco was developing the technology to reprocess waste
and turn it to clean energy but Clinton put a stop to it.

I think Bush did that for a number of years. He also put us in debt

is a better term."
JJ:
While the Left thinks their president can do no wrong the Right is
not so dogmatic. Yes, Bush was a big spender (which I did not like)
with a lot of help from a Democratic Congress. The war in Iraq was
only cost about $100 billion a year so this was just a small part of
the spending in the Bush years.
Bush though was a spending scrooge compared to Obama. I'd call him
Obama light. Obama is the real thing.
And "Mgun," I'm sure I am much more positive toward Obama than you were
toward Bush, even though Obama is making much graver mistakes.
