Here are two additional [op-ed] letters I have had published in the Idaho Statesman.

Letter #1 -- Published Aug 21, 2008.

The most fantastic and illogical sound bytes are in the press lately.

One that should obviously be fallacious even to a six-year-old is:  "We can't drill our way out of this problem."

By stating this, most of these poor souls, devoid of reason, are saying that we need not drill for more oil for it will do little or no good.

The hard irrefutable fact is this: For some time to come the need for oil will increase, not decrease. It will take an unknown period of time before alternative energy stops the growth of oil consumption.

In the meantime how do we solve the problem of obtaining more oil?

Answer:  WE DRILL OUR WAY OUT OF THE PROBLEM!!! There is no other way.

Where does Al Gore get the fuel for excursions on a private jet?

Answer:  Drilling.

Where does Barbara Streisand get her petrol for her giant RV she drives to the studio?

Answer:  Drilling.

How does Madonna manage a carbon footprint a whopping 100 times the average person?

Answer:  Drilling.

What is the solution to the increased need for oil to support those who tell us to walk and ride bikes?

Answer:  Drilling. There is no other way.

Letter #2 -- Published Oct 2, 2008

I find some of the recent letters criticizing Christians somewhat irritating. If a Christian in politics just mentions anything about his faith cries of violating separation of church and state are raised. Neither McCain or Palin have shown any inclination to impose any one religion on the majority, as forbidden in the Constitution, but they may mention their faith, which right is guaranteed by it. The Left seems eager to deny a person this right because he enters Republican politics.

Christians are also attacked for believing in intelligent design. The Left tries to make them look stupid by insinuating they believe the earth was created in six earth days. Most believers I have met, who accept intelligent design, believe the earth is billions of years old and the six days represent six cycles as indicated in the [original] Hebrew [text].

It is the Left who have the more illogical beliefs than fundamentalists, such as there being no intelligent design behind the cell or DNA. Or the belief that if we do not drill for oil that energy will magically appear. Or we can't even make an infinitesimal footprint in ANWAR for it will anger their God or God substitute.
