Seeing The Principle

Larry:

"So it looks each one gets an unearned gift when they enter the labor market. Then people predict what they will produce and the government prints money to equal that prediction. You still have the problem of people predicting all sorts of things based on all sorts of motives and maybe hitting the mark, and maybe not.

"You still need a 'Commitment Police' lest people game the system. People can still commit to 'extra work' (see above that I quoted) getting additional money and meet that commitment with a "product" designed primarily to meet a commitment.

"I am not even remotely convinced that this is worthy of serious consideration."

JJ:

At the beginning of the parable I wrote:

"I do not claim that all the correspondences are exact but wrote it with the purpose of illustrating several key underlying principles, most importantly the balance and internal integrity needed to create a stable monetary system."

Now I am sure you will agree that balance and internal integrity are necessary to maintain a stable money system, but you overlook the purpose of the parable and nit pick the details to death as if it represents some exact plan that I wish to implement. So far I have not presented a plan but have attempted to teach important underlying principles that any plan must take into consideration.

Can you imagine taking your microcosmic criticism and applying to the parables of Jesus:

If one reads these parables with this type of jaundice eye then he will never see the principles that Jesus was attempting to teach.

Even so, you rarely discuss the principles and the main points I was attempting to communicate but concentrate on picking apart details and often coming to completely wrong conclusions as to what the intended meaning is.

Of the various scenarios presented for the purpose of teaching underlying principles the "HP Dollars" comes the closest to what I would support and these are about as far away from anything that Karl Marx supported that one can imagine.

One reason these type of dollars have not been issued it is illegal, I believe, to issue any currency that competes with U.S. currency. It is also possible they have not even thought of the idea or if they did thought they would get in trouble by paying overtime with anything but standard money.

We would have to be free to make our own rules to use there HP (Hewlett-Packard) type of dollars.

As far as economics of the future is concerned I am not at present presenting a plan but basic principles so the plan that materializes can be founded in the most effective manner.
