The Fourth

Dan writes, quoting JJ from an earlier post:

The fourth initiation is called "The Great Renunciation."  And was passed in the Garden of Gethsemane by Jesus and finished off with the follow through on the cross.

Abraham also gives an example of the great sacrifice when he showed a willingness to lose his dream by sacrificing his Son Isaac."

Then Dan writes:

The character in the Immortal - Joe - appears to have encountered his dweller (3rd initiation), defeated it to enter into the Angel of the Presence, and has since rec'd his 'mission' of service indicating that he is now in the midst of the 5th initiation of 'revelation' which will be 'completed,' I would guess, once he has successfully accomplished his mission of learning and, or teaching the 36 keys of Knowledge, Understanding and Eternal Life.

So where is his great renunciation (of the 4th initiation)?

Jesus had his in the Garden where he finally gave up his heart's desire to gather the lights into a new unified whole and accepted his mission to demonstrate the resurrection (basically) and said "please remove this cup from me if possible, nevertheless father not my will but thine be done," right?

Abraham's 4th initiation of renunciation was his willingness to sacrifice his son and, or dream.

Joseph Smith, if I recall correctly, failed his fourth when salvaging his honor in his friends' eyes turned out to be more precious to him than his mission.

So where is Joe's renunciation? Is it that he had to leave off in-depth spiritual study, which he dearly loved, in order to enter the 'real world' of business to reach such material success that he could then have the free time and, or money to concentrate fully on his service project?

That wouldn't even come close to demanding the complete sacrifice necessary for the fourth.

One thing a true teacher rarely discusses is where he is on the path. Those who claim to be high initiates are usually attempting to create a beastly power to get obedience out of followers so their teachings will require little substance.

Even so, the wise student can often come close to estimating where his teacher may be.

The trouble with The Immortal series is that it is a combination of fact and fiction so the true story of my progression is not revealed in completeness there, but there are some hints.

If I have passed the fourth then there is nothing in the Immortal series that tells the story. This would mean that I have written nothing about the experience. If such a story were to be told then it would be after I am gone from the scene.

Global Warming Enlightenment:

News Flash:   MINNEAPOLIS - A North Pole expedition meant to bring attention to global warming was called off after one of the explorers got frostbite. The explorers, Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen, on Saturday called off what was intended to be a 530-mile trek across the Arctic Ocean after Arnesen suffered frostbite in three of her toes, and extreme cold temperatures drained the batteries in some of their electronic equipment.

"...losing toes and going forward at all costs was never part of the journey,"  said Ann Atwood, who helped organize the expedition.
