Locked Doors

Even I can tell that America has some fear in it's society.

That's not part of any debate. Of course all people in every society have some fear about some things. No disagreement here.

NS:

I think the recent concentration on terrorism would have elevated this naturally.

Of course, the greater the obvious threat the greater the fear of the masses. Most people like myself continue life as usual. Why cower in fear over something you can do nothing about?

NS:

They are loaded up on guns and the media concentrates on mostly negative fearful aspects.

Guns has nothing to do with the current discussion, but you are right that the media does concentrate on the negative and the weak will be effected.

NS:

Hardly anyone in Canada even locks their door.

You can't trust Michael Moore's figures on this. He may have knocked on 100 doors to get five that were not locked.

Quite a few people in Boise where I live do not lock their doors, especially while they are home. I wouldn't, except my wife insists on it.

I grew up in farm areas where everyone had a gun and no one locked their doors so I could have made a movie making it look like people in this country do not lock their doors.

Incidentally I have knocked on about 25,000 doors in England and not one that I recall was unlocked. Some of them had three or four locks and it often took the resident a couple minutes just to get everything unlocked and the door open.

I was amazed at how much more security conscious they were in England than America, especially with their tight gun control. Apparently, a lack of guns did not make them feel safe.

NS:

Their crime rate I'm guessing is a lot lower and they don't feel the need to own guns.

Canadians have lots of guns. Even Michael Moore says this in his movie.

NS:

I bet their news channel doesn't have. "terror alert elevated" constantly rolling across the bottom of their screen.

Of course not. They do not have a bullseye on their back as does the US. If they were not depending on the United States as their first line of defense things would be different.

After Hitler went after France and England he then attacked the smaller "peaceful" countries with little defense, but did not go after them first. This gave them a false sense of security.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature ... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.  Helen Keller (1880 - 1968), The Open Door (1957)
