Moderation

My Friends,
Thanks for your comments (on and off list) on Book 4. They are helpful.
Glad to see Judes staying on the list and glad Woody gave her words of encouragement.
Concerning moderation let me say that most of the list is moderated. Those we take off are people who post regularly over a period of time who seem to create no major disturbance. Moderation delays your post on the average of about two hours. That's about the only disadvantage of it.
Perhaps the most frequent criticism I get (often off list) is that we do not reject more posts. Some do not want us to approve anything negative or with strong disagreement.
My view is that we should allow all on topic posts but the few who throw out personal insults or are so far off base that their post will prove a major distraction to the list. I do not recall ever rejecting a post merely because someone disagreed with me.
Sometimes members will gang up on another member and interrogate him or her or strongly seek to counter their views. I do not like to see this happen with some, for many are not as thick skinned as I. Even so, we usually do not reject such posts unless someone starts making it personal and attacking the personality or being overly judgmental.
In the past month I believe I have rejected just one post and that was on a way off topic conspiracy theory. I am not aware of Mindy, or other monitor rejecting any either.
My point is that a poster does not have to be overly concerned about being politically or spiritually correct when they write, for his post will probably being going through without question.
We are getting an unusually large number of off topic posts and if the number gets large enough it may call for some type of added limitation. That probably will not be necessary until the list grows a bit more.
