Preparing for the Master

The Question:

When we examine a teacher, a book, or school of thought and find something that does not register with our truth detector - does this mean that we should write the whole thing off?

What is the approach of the true seeker?

Is it likely that he will completely agree with a representative of the Brotherhood of Light?

Do you think that sincere seekers will agree 100% with Christ when he comes?

Melva mentioned that we have covered this subject before. While it is true that we have talked about the quest for truth many times I think you will find that I am seeking for a different angle of vision when we revisit a subject. The questions will always have a different slant to reveal another piece of the elephant.

These questions highlight a perpetual problem that face all world teachers major and minor. Too many look at the teacher the way they would a piece of data. A piece of data is either all true or all false. For instance 2+2=4 is either completely true or completely false.

The student often takes the mistaken approach to a teacher of philosophy. The result of this approach is usually disaster. Such a student will think he has discovered an infallible source when he finds a teacher with whom he agrees. The trouble is the one with the black and white approach will usually find something with which he disagrees. When this happens he will then write off all the good things that come from the teacher.

Notice I use the word "usually?" This is because the black and white person sometimes becomes so mesmerized by his initial teacher that he forms the solid conclusion that he can do not wrong. Therefore, if he is told to meet a flying saucer on a mountaintop and it does not show up he will make an excise for the leader and still starkly believe.

I ask the interesting question as to whether a true seeker would agree with Christ himself if he should meet and be taught of him.

We received some insightful answers on this but I'll add a few words.

Many think that if they met the Christ that they would not only instantly recognize him but also just know that they would realize that all of his teachings are true.

Believe me it will not be that simple. If you think George Bush is a polarizing figure who separates people into two sides of the equation wait until you get a load of the Master himself.

DK says this:

The Factor of the Ray of Love-Wisdom as it controls the Ray of Harmony through Conflict and implements the Return of the Christ

In the first paragraph of this instruction, I ascribed the inevitability of Christ's imminent return to the decision of humanity to precipitate the existent conflict on to the physical plane, thus determining the sphere of Christ's activity. In earlier teachings also I have pointed out that He might come in one of three ways or in all three of them simultaneously. The issues which have emerged as the result of the conflict upon the physical plane, and of its shifting (by man's decision) today on to the mental plane, have made completely evident the fact that the locale of Christ's influence will be, therefore, the entire three worlds Of human evolution, which naturally includes the physical levels of experience and demands His physical Presence. Rays and Initiations Pg 615

Notice that he says that the conflict which exists among humanity will determine the "locale" of his influence? He has told us that there must be relative physical stability before the Second Coming, but this will not be the case in the astral and mental levels. There will be a lot of conflict on these levels and the presence of the Christ will only increase the tension.

Sincerity is a big aid in the quest for truth but this alone does not insure the student will always be able to bypass his illusions and dogmas and be 100% accurate in embracing the truths presented to him. When Christ does come many of these sincere people will find themselves rejecting him as a false teacher. The only thing that will correct them will be their own souls. To obtain the necessary soul contact requires a step beyond sincerity and that is an openness that will allow the seeker to question his long held beliefs and reassess them periodically with new teachings that cross his path from time to time.

Even the most astute student will have some problems with the Master for he will learn some information that he will have to take on faith to a degree. This does not mean he will accept blindly, but he will exercise his faith and test that which he does not know until he does know. Those who are stuck in their illusions will not apply the necessary tests and may wind up rejecting the Master.

In the meantime we can practice sensing truth and true teaching by listening to each other and sorting out that which is true and that which may not be true.

As I've said many times before, the attainment of regular soul contact is the best insurance we can attain in order to recognize true teachers and their connection with Spiritual forces.
