John Crane's quote:
...Mal. 1:3 "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness."

Then Keith wrote:
For me the following part of the above is relevant," .... But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness." This verse speaks about the thunderous coming of the lord (higher self) through the head chakra when the disciple has refined his temple. If the physical bodies (mental, astral, etheric, physical) have not been refined properly then they will be shattered at his coming. Therefore, the warning .."who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? Only those who have prepared can withstand the high vibration and energies of fire unleashed into the lower triad. We will all have our own individual 'day of the lord' and a great day it will be indeed.

JJ:
Great interpretation Keith. If we remember that all inspired words have several levels of interpretation we can see that both you and John have merit in your comments.

The ancient Jews used to say that each scripture had interpretations that corresponded with the body, soul and spirit of the work. John interpreted the body and you the soul.

Rapter Keith:
(J.J. passed a great hurdle of initiation when he decided to defend his friend at his excommunication. Just think how blessed we have been to hear his teachings. If by some fluke J.J. had remained in the LDS, we would be all the poorer.)

Good point, but the real struggle occurred before this and even before my Nephew came along. I knew my days were numbered in the church. I wanted to choose my battle, but instead the battle chose me. But I do often think back on one significant event that opened my eyes, and, even though it was extremely uncomfortable at the time, I cringe when I think of how my life would be different if it did not happen and if I had settled in comfort for life within the zone of the church.

By the way, even though we normally discourage political posts, if I happen to make one that means the topic of the post is fair game and on topic.

Politics is always interesting and stimulating, but the subject can certainly open up a lot of diversions away from metaphysics. Perhaps when the subject does come up we can concentrate on the metaphysics - or principles - behind the events.

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.
