Blayne,

Excellent post! Thanks for doing this research.

JJ, if you have read the entire post and the list of issues, do you still assert we are as free today as in 1960? This post in particular highlights the tremendous growth in _regulatory_ bureaucracy (there was no EPA in 1960, was there?).

JJ
I agree that the most points Blayne and others bring up do restrict our freedom, but two things I have brought up carry more weight with me so I still maintain my position.

(1) No draft today.

(2) The Internet.

In my opinion, I wouldn't trade the Internet for every new regulation added since 1969.

As I said, there are arguments on both sides. I could go into more detail but I do not think many are interested in pursuing this topic further.

By the way, I haven't heard the one about items that a woman cannot sew in her own home. I wonder how many women have been hauled away for sewing address or whatever. Sounds kind of odd to me. I'd be interested in knowing what the law or regulation is here. Sounds like something akin to spitting on the sidewalk type of law.
