White Magic -- Lesson One, Part 3

2001-6-15 11:26:00

Note: I have taught quite a bit in the past about becoming an initiate through using the power to decide and initiate which is within us. This is a different approach to the principle than is used by Alice A. Bailey. In the Bailey writings an initiation is a recognized milestone in the mastery of the individual over limiting forces. In my writings this is presented as a self initiating power which is within us and must be used in order for us to attain to higher spiritual power. Neither presentation is at conflict and both together help to understand the principle of initiation itself, for in order to attain to the initiations as taught by the Hierarchy one must first develop the power to initiate within.

The Masters are not looking for people who have to be told what to do in every detail, but for those who are willing to initiate good causes of their own free will and bring them to fruition.

Now we will continue with an excerpt from my lecture series.

White Magic Lesson One, Part 3:

JJ:

What is initiation?

Audience:

"Isn't it phases of growth, or the beginning of the phase toward enlightenment?"

JJ:

Right, there are seven initiations altogether that you'll take on this planet. We'll talk about them quite a bit as we go through this course.

Audience:

"Is it like passing a test?"

JJ:

An initiation is an area in your life that you will be a master over. In first initiation you prove that you're a master over physical things. The second initiation shows you are a master over your emotions and glamour. In the third one you become a master over the world on the mind and illusion. There are seven altogether. We won't go into them all right now but keep in mind that this book and these revelations, are given to help us prepare for initiations. The fact that you're in this room shows that you're either a probationary disciple or a disciple. A probationary disciple is one who is seeking after the Path. A disciple is one who has taken several of the initiations and committed himself to the work of the soul. The fact that you're even here looking indicates that you are at least aspiring to something higher. Either you're just looking or you're committed to the purpose of your inner soul. You probably feel inside which category you're in.

Djwahl Khul says there are several basic concepts that must be born in mind as we go ahead here. First, as a matter of prime importance to each student, is not the fact of a particular teacher's personality but the measure of truth for which he stands. It is in the student's power to discriminate between truth and falsity. So, I'm probably a good person to teach this class, because some of you have said I have no personality. (Laughter)

Let's look at somebody like Jimmy Swaggart. He has all kinds of personality. He gets up there and he cries and he just oozes personality. And why do people follow him? Because of his "personal power." If you were to read his words on a sheet of paper without the personality behind it, what do you have? Who would pay any money just to read that? But you see him get out and storm around and cry and do all these things, then you're swayed by his personality.

The Tibetan says here that we need to get away from the personality. Many of the gurus and new age people we see around sway people by their personalities. People are hypnotized by astral essence. The Tibetan says the New Age Disciple must get beyond the personality and what we need to look at is the pure words and how they affect your spirit. Secondly he says, that with increased esoteric teachings comes increased exoteric responsibility. Perhaps we had better define these words before we go on because He uses them a lot.

If you memorize no other words, you need to get these down. What is esoteric?

Audience:

"Isn't the inward, hidden?"

JJ:

Yes. Some Christian Fundamentalists try to portray this and other metaphysical words as evil and sinister but it simply means inward, hidden things that are not outwardly apparent to the outer world--things that are difficult to find. What's exoteric?

Audience:

"Outward?"

JJ:

Right, things that are available in our physical world.

Audience:

"So this book would be exoteric."

JJ:

This book is now exoteric; it's available to you physically. The teachings are esoteric because even in this exoteric book it takes a lot of searching to understand.

[JJ quoting DK]

"Second, with increased esoteric understanding comes increased exoteric responsibility."

In other words, we have a responsibility to the outward world when the inner truths become revealed to us. So if you don't like responsibility, you should quit learning because with this learning comes an increased vibration, and a responsibility. What happens if we don't fulfill this responsibility?

Audience:

"We quit learning."

JJ:

Right, our soul begins to say to us, you didn't fulfill your responsibility so I won't work with you until you fulfill it. That's the way it is and why there is a Hierarchy. There are millions of hierarchies in the universe. The hierarchy over which Christ resides is only one hierarchy. The law of the hierarchies is based on the principle that you have somebody you must lift up before somebody above you will lift you up to where they are. It's an eternal lifting-up process. It's a chain, from the highest life in the universe to the lowest life in the universe; we're all lifting each other up, even mankind as a whole. Who does mankind as a kingdom have a responsibility to lift up?

It's our responsibility to lift up the animal kingdom. As our vibration is raised up, the animals will be raised up too. Sometime in the future ages some animals will even be able to talk and we'll be able to communicate. Their destiny is in our hands to a great extent.

[JJ quoting DK]

"Let each student with clarity therefore take stock of himself, remembering that understanding comes through application of the measure of truth grasped to the immediate problem and environment, and that the consciousness expands through use of the truth imparted."

Okay, consciousness expands through the use of the truth imparted. Now this is a problem with many of the new age people I have found. I have found that they want to go from seminar to seminar, symposium to symposium, guru to guru and learn and learn and learn but not really use what they've learned. So this is where we have to go. Its almost like many of the new age people are roadblocked. Many are not moving up to the next level because we as a whole have to take the knowledge we have learned and apply it. Apply it to some use that will be beneficial and then we must lift others up to where we are. If we want to be lifted up to our next level, we have to lift others up.

That's why I'm a teacher. There are certain things that I know that I feel a strong motivation from my soul to impart. I feel that when I have done a good job at this, I'll be given my next revelation. The same holds with all of us. All of us are in that category. We all have things that we have learned and we must all teach them wherever we can find response.

This is in the words of the Tibetan. He says, "It's my duty to teach wherever I can find a response, no matter what the cost." It doesn't do any good to teach if you can't find a response but look in places where the truths that you know can find a response. When you teach them, you will feel illuminated inside. You will feel very good, a tremendous peace. No matter what's going on around you, when you find yourself in a teaching position, you will be accompanied by a tremendous peace.

Audience:

"Have you found this true? Do you feel good when you teach other people?"

JJ:

Well sometimes I teach people and they say, "I don't believe that," and I won't argue. If they say it's not true that we create our reality, I just say that may be. I teach elementary things, whether it be at a part or whatever, I'll say maybe we're vibrating at different rates.

It's good that you do that because many of us don't want to force anything on anybody else so we stay quiet unless they force it out of us. I know people that have worked together and were oblivious that each other were interested in metaphysics until they met in one of my classes. They'll say, "I didn't know that you believed in this stuff!" Here they work together and they didn't know each other's interest until they met at a class somewhere where they're learning the same thing.

So you don't know who's going to respond. And if they're not ready, it'll be like a person coming out of a dark cave into the light. It'll blind them and they won't like it. But still their eyes will adjust. If they're hit with a truth long enough, pretty soon it dawns on them that it's true. Don't worry if it disturbs them. You'll notice that if they're not ready, they get very agitated. Whenever you present them with something a little bit higher than they're willing to accept they'll appear uncomfortable.

Remember how agitated Jesus made everybody and they ended up crucifying Him? But He didn't stop talking about it, did He? He, the Master of Masters, continued to call everything the way that He saw it. It's something we should be a little bit bolder about than we have been in the past.

Many people I meet I test to see what they're like. You can kind of feel people out, whether they're the typical blue collar, four-wheeling guy or maybe they're maybe interested in something a little higher. I try to hit them with some off-the-cuff, or an off-the-wall statement to see if they're of a mind for higher knowledge. Nothing really too freaky. Then if that doesn't strike them too bad, if they don't leave the conversation, I'll try them with something a little higher. Pretty soon I hit them with some statement that makes them say, "Oh man, you're weird". When I get to that point I know I've reached their level and I back down and talk to them at the highest point I think they can comprehend. It's a good way to test people's receptivity. You keep taking them a step higher and then higher still until they get agitated. Once they get agitated you know you've hit them with as bright as light as they can handle.

Here's a question for you to consider:

Are we too timid about sharing our views with others? Are we too fearful about offending others?

Have you experienced this "agitation" from others when you have tried to share knowledge with them? Tell us about it and how you handle the problem.
